Chapter 2; Unwilling Confident
Sakura couldn't help it.
She didn't know why she answered the door. She didn't know why she fixed her hair or why her heart skipped a beat as she softly padded over to the door on her bare toes. She didn't know why she never thought to wake her roommate when the door buzzer rang so late after midnight.
Except she knew exactly why, because it was him.
The door creaked open slowly and pale fingers crept pass the oak edge. His dark features were only visible for a flash before he'd pushed his way inside and pulled her against him. His fingers were cold as the strong digits closed around her bare arm and her hip sending cold fire flaring in her belly as his calloused skin teased the bare skin between her vest and shorts.
"Sasuke..." she'd begun to speak her voice quivering but he wouldn't allow her. His lips crashed over hers silencing anything she might have said as it all became a wanton moan as her hands slide up his powerful arms pulling him further into the kiss. All the things she'd planned to say, her demands died replaced with the fact that he was here now. Even if it was only in this moment he belonged to her. That was until she felt the thick wet blood of an open wound beneath her fingers.
"You're hurt." she said breaking the kiss. Her reflexes wanted to kick in, to take charge and treat him, in any other situation they would have. Except he had pinned her to the wall of her apartment and when she'd broken the kiss he'd growled and attacked her neck with kisses and bites. And that drove her crazy.
"It's nothing." he spoke voice raw and raspy. He'd been gone a month this time, doing god knows what. Peacekeeping, soul searching, hunting down the last remnants of Akatsuki, Sound and anyone else that might destroy the fragile peace. He'd been drinking too, she could smell it on his breath.
"You always say that. What will you do when it is something?" she asked staring into his eyes as he leaned back smirking lazily.
"Then I'll come to you Sakura, to put me back together." he answered kissing her more softly and drawing a whimper out of the girl. She knew that was all she was to him, self medication just like his wandering and his whiskey.
She didn't care though, he could use her all he wanted.
"I don't know." Spoke the Uchiha frowning at the paper before him. The girl opposite him squeaked her white eyes opening wide in concern. Carefully Sasuke sipped his green tea considering what he'd just read, it had very quickly devolved into shameless smut.
"What's wrong with it?" asked the Hyuuga leaning forward. The Uchiha couldn't help but think she looked a little adorable in her disguise. The thick rimmed glasses hide her white eyes from all but those looking directly at her and her dark hair was pinned up and hidden beneath a dark hat, it also hid her lack of a caged bird seal.
"We seem a little out of character. I don't think Sakura would put up with being a booty call, and I seem a bit...too nice." Or romanticized Sasuke thought, how was he supposed to scare people away if they reinterpreted his actions so sympathetically.
"Oh she so would. All you'd have to do is ask and that girl would be bent over with her shorts and panties around her ankles before you could blink." Hinata protested vehemently leaning over the table, she had a slight lewd grin on her painted lips that Sasuke had begun to associate with the Hyuuga having a naughty day dream.
The first time he'd noticed it he'd used the Sharingan to peak into her mind...that had been a mistake. The mental images that had flooded his mind had involved himself and Naruto doing unspeakable things with a multitude of devices to the Hyuuga girl. It had been more than he needed to see.
"And you need to be sweetened up a little, romance does that to people." added Hinata after she finished her little internal fantasizing. Sasuke snorted and rolled his eyes.
"I don't think this counts as romance. More like pornography." rasped the Uchiha raising an eyebrow as the Hyuuga pouted.
"One man's trash another man's...well you know." started Hinata cutting off whatever dirty thing she might have said when the waitress strayed too close. She still put up her sweet and innocent act whenever there was anyone else around. It seemed he was the only exception after their last mission.
"So what else is here."
"You don't get much much business these days huh?" asked the Uchiha allowing his eyes to flicker over the exotic weaponry. Some he imagined he might be able to use somewhat effectively, others he wouldn't even have the slightest clue how to start wielding.
He'd stick with sword and shuriken in accord.
"Ya, downside to peace times. Only really sell practice weapons these days and you can't exactly charge a lot for them." spoke the brunette fanning herself idly. The village was in the midst of a heat wave and even stripped down to her loose t shirt and shorts the heat was just near unbearable for the brunette kunochi.
"So if Naruto is to be believed you're a master with everything here." He hadn't meant to sound so skeptical, he just couldn't help it. The brunette laughed lightly and shifted off her perch, there was a clink of ice as she took her cool drink with her.
"Hmm more or less. I have my preferences though." answered the brunette stretching out a finger to rub dust from one of the more unique items. It looked like the bastard child of a whip and a katana. She sipped her drink.
"You're drinking?" he asked noticing for the first time the heavily iced drink smelled slightly of alcohol.
"Party next door, thought you would have gotten an invite." answered Tenten shrugging unapologetically, he appreciated the candour. Naruto had mentioned something like a party, it had seemed unappealing in the heat though.
"You opened just for me?" He asked feeling rather unused to the kindness, since he'd returned many of his former comrades had taken to holding him in little more than disdain. He tended to return it in kind.
"You got expensive taste. Want a drink?" she asked casually but it wasn't much of an offer, before he'd even managed to form an answer she'd mixed a bright swirling drink on her counter and forced it on him. She was certainly quick with her hands he had to admit.
"It is hot out." and more so inside he had to admit, and alcoholic or not the drink had plenty of ice in it.
"I haven't fought anyone seriously in over a year. Some days that's a happy thought, others it fills me with disgust." she'd hopped onto her counter her shirt waving a bit to reveal the taunt muscle of her stomach, lazily she brought the straw to her red lips.
"I see." the Uchiha frowned scrutinizing the girl more closely now, it was often hard to tell with ninja whether they were drunk or not. So much of their grace was ingrained right to their bones that unless you knew them well you wouldn't catch the signs they were drunk. Still Sasuke thought the woman might have been.
"You would, wouldn't you." the chocolate toned woman muttered her doe eyes taking in his profile a bit more carefully than he'd ever known her to do so in the past. A heavy silence hung from a moment.
"Sorry, that sounded more accusatory than I'd meant it. I just mean you'd get it." The kunochi apologized taking another mouthful of her drink. Sasuke waited to see what she'd say next, suddenly he was finding this woman he'd bought weapons and cleaning oil off the last year endlessly more fascinating.
"I've trained so long to become just like everything in this shop, a weapon. It's not completely but, there's so much of me now that only really felt alive...when I was fighting. So, to me at least, peace feels like..." her brow had scrunched up rather cutely as she seemed to struggle with what it was she wanted to say. Sasuke didn't think it was that the words evaded her either, rather she didn't want to say it aloud.
"Like I'm dead." the Uchiha finished.
"We're not though, are we?"
"Well, did you like it?" asked the Hyuuga nibbling on her pastry as the Uchiha finished the second story she'd asked him to review.
"Actually, I did. It was quite interesting, at least until you had us screwing on the shop floor using the weapons as...aids." There was certainly some of the last few story paragraphs that the Uchiha wished he could erase from his mind. Hinata looked like she'd just been struck.
"But that's the best part! You two are so head strong you'd probably just tear into each other and..." And there was the Hyuuga's usual dirty glazed over expression. Sasuke began his usual count and sipped on his tea. It was only a twelve second delay before the girl returned to herself. It wasn't even close to the record.
"I thought you mostly wrote stuff about me with Sakura though?" Well the ones she had him in anyway. He'd already seen the large box of 'NaruHina', 'NaruSaku' and 'SakuHina' she'd had when she first started showing him her writing. Apparently after he'd discovered her hidden perverted tendencies she'd taken to 'shipping' him too. Usually as her buddy to help her avoid love triangles.
A lot of her stories had herself and Naruto as a couple so he and Sakura would be a sort of back up couple. Then there had been that story she showed him where she and Sakura were the main couple. As if he and Naruto would be raising a bunch of brats together!
He came out of his musing when Hinata laughed.
"Gods no, you and Sakura are so overdone. I just used those to ease you in." she was smiling sincerely as she pulled out some other sheets of paper from her bag. With no small amount of trepidation Sasuke took the stories.
He didn't have to read much of the first one.
"No. Just no." He hammered the page onto the table face down and tried to force his blush to subside. Hinata high giggling didn't help with that.
"There is no way, I repeat no one I would be Tsunade's Anbu Captain in charge of sensual pleasure." Even saying that much seemed to kill some small part of the Uchiha. Hinata just seemed to find it funnier, she was outright grinning now.
"It could be fun, she's got those big fun bags." He ignored the odd euphemism and instead glared at the pale girl.
"You've got big 'fun bags'" returned the Uchiha before he could think better of it. Hinata's almost predatory expression quickly informed him of his mistake.
"You noticed! Is that you're way of saying you like me?" she asked and Sasuke was worried she wasn't mocking him. Since he'd become the only person she could act like her perverted self around they'd been spending a lot of time together.
Mostly because she was now openly stalking him.
"You're putting words in my mouth." growled the young man trying his best to look menacing despite knowing well by now intimidation had no effect on the white eyed woman. She said it was 'cute', when he done his 'sexy' serial killer thing.
Insane prevert.
"Would you like to put something in my mouth?" she asked falsely innocent pouting just slightly. The worst part of it all for Sasuke was she was getting better at pushing certain buttons the more he saw of her perverted side.
An interruption silenced any further arguing or flirting.
"Sasuke...Hinata? What are you two doing here, um, together?" Sakura stood a few feet away staring at the pair at the messy table with abject confusion, hesitantly she made her way over to them.
"It's just like my last story!" he heard Hinata whisper furiously to him as Sakura approached. He favoured the Hyuuga with a mildly incredulous look for a moment and failed to see one of the sheets slipping from the table or Sakura reaching down to retrieve it. Hinata's soft curse alerted him. Later he'd blame his actions on Hinata, and her dirty stories infecting his mind. As fast as he could Sasuke had leap from his chair intent on distracting Sakura enough to ignore whatever dirty story she'd picked up.
He barely registered her shocked wide eyes as his lips met hers in a firm kiss and he barely noticed her arm looping up around his shoulders or her body melting against his own as he slipped the paper out of her increasingly slack grip.
Then he broke the kiss, sat back down and returned to sipping his now cold green tea. Hinata had a look of worrying intrigue in her eyes and Sakura was simply staring at him, and gingerly touching her lips.
"I think the Hokage wants to see you Sakura." Hinata offered after a surprisingly long stretch where no one at all spoke. Softly the pink haired girl nodded and in a trace left there table.
"If she asks later...this never happened." Sasuke spoke after a moment pondering what possessed him to act like that. Genjutsu, threats, a fireball, there were so many better ways he could have reacted. The perverted Hyuuga was rubbing off on him.
"Sure. But more importantly, that kiss happened in my story too!" the pale girl was way too enthused about that. She was practically vibrating in her seat as she spoke.
"So?" Sasuke asked unsure of the significance. Hinata wrote a lot, it wasn't surprising at least something from it would match up.
"Don't you see? I can write the future! Image the possibilities!" she was practically cackling as she barely avoided being over heard by the other patrons. Sasuke edged his seat back slightly and picked up another of the unread stories the insane Hyuuga had brought.
Might as well see what might happen if she really could write the future.
Hanabi Hyuuga huh? Sasuke didn't recognize the name but decided to read on anyway as Hinata whispered her nefarious plans to him. Apparently she'd introduce a dress code consisting solely of high heels, bowties and tongs.
That would be interesting.
Had some major writers block with the next chapter of Lucky Island, keep erasing and rewriting everything I put down. But I wanted to update something so I took a break to do this instead. It's short but I hope you like it.
I do love Pervert Hinata :)
If you're interested then the first to review this chapter can make a recommendation and prompt for the next chapter of Cracks in Time. Just pick one of my stories and the characters you want involved, it could even be this one if you wanted.
