A dog called Fox?
Nina looked over Bellas body, her heart beating so hard and fast it filled her ears, it was the only thing she could hear. Bella started to move as she started to stir, shaking her head slowly, her lips parting groaning in pain and confusion, looking like she was dehydrated and had been out when the temperature dropped in the night.
'Shhh, Bella you're in the woods, it's Nina Greenwood. Can you open your eyes for me?' looking over her injuries Bella was groggy and confused by her surroundings, Fox on guard watching the girl that smelt of dogs and faintly like death.
Bella had her arm around Ninas shoulder, as Nina was taller than her she was slightly stooping down to one side, Bella felt like a dead weight, unaware of how her feet were even carrying her, feeling numb and cold, her eyes rolling into her head looking for Edward, he had made her come here for a reason, didn't he?
Bella felt Nina's tentative hand around her waist pulling her close to her as a mean looking dog was against her heel, looking straight ahead to where her truck was waiting for them.
'Nina?' Bella asked as her head snapped around looking down at Bella who looked as though she was going to puke up everywhere.
'Yeah? What is it?' she looked into her eyes.
'I- I really don't know what happened' getting upset.
'Hey, it's okay, do you want me to call your Dad or take you home?' her eyes widened in fear of her Dad finding out about this or is Jake ever found out she left him for Edward.
'I-I can't can you take me to Jacob Blacks?' Bella asked Nina nodded letting the tail down for her dog, clipping his harness on so he didn't fall out and sat down almost lifting Bella into the truck.
Jake got to the woods Bellas blood on the floor, trees and pooled up where the grass and surrounding plants had all been pushed down for quite a while, and the smell of another dog, phasing and calling for the others hoping Bella would hear as he went home in the hope Bella would have go there or someone would know what the hell was going on.
The car ride was in silence, Nina not knowing what to say or if she should call her Dad or take her to the hospital though Bella was older than her she felt like the one making the decision out of the two of them. Bella coughing hard and wrapping her arms around her as Nina, much to her dislike turned the heating up, it was muggy as hell and hot enough to fry an egg on the buck.
Jake scanning the whole house going out of his mind, going dizzy with the tsunami of thought wiping him out, sitting on the porch with his head in his hands getting tight chested and upset.
'Bella' squeezing his eyes shut.
Pulling up near his house letting Fox off his lead and out the truck there were bears and wolves around here. 'Good boy' she scratched his ear and told him to heel up, stuck like glue to Nina, she opened the door and helped Bella climb out, as they slowly made their way towards the house, Bella saw Jake sitting on the front porch step with his head in his hands looking tired and defeated.
'ARGH NO' Nina told him making him fall silent though it caught Jakes attention he saw Bella and in a matter of seconds he was somehow over by her side. He looked her all over, kissed her cheeks and held her close completely un-worried that a few inches from Bella was Nina.
'I thought you were gone' he said kissing her again.
Nina watched them, Bella and Jake were a dream couple but when she chose Edward it was the talk of the small town but with Edward leaving her and she and Jacob hooking up was even more scandalous though he absolutely adores Bella. Shifting awkwardly Nina clears her throat and unwinds her arm from around Bella as she is being slightly crushed by Jake.
'What happened?' Jake asked as he leant down towards Bella she didn't answer she just looked to Ninas, Jake didn't follow her gaze,
'Come on, let's get you warm and clean' Following then with her eyes as Jake picked Bella up with ease and Jake took her inside the small house.
Pissed off at the fact, Bella hadn't thanked her Jake didn't even acknowledge that she was there. Looking at Fox who was fixed on something in the woods.
Jake carried her in though the door as though Bella was made of glass, Nina didn't want to intrude but felt it necessary to follow them to make sure Bella was safe. The door was shut.
Sitting on the porch step emptying her shoe of a stone and re-lacing her shoe Fox licking her hand standing alerted as the door opened.
'SIT' Nina commanded as he did as he was told,
'Hey' Jake sat down next to her looking at each other.
'How is she?' Jakes face just pure relief.
'Scared, she-she doesn't know what happened, or how she got there.' his hands wringing together over and over. 'I didn't wake up, I never noticed she was in danger' Jake scolded him self.
'Well it was Fox that found Bella, we were just walking through and he must have known that she was in trouble' Nina clicked her fingers as Fox turned and moved to her hand as she stroked his little ears and short ears, stroking his shining coat.
'Good boy' Jakes voice excited so Fox's docked tail wagged hard to it became a blur but didn't move from Nina's side.
'How's your Dad, mine said he is going fishing with him soon' Jake seemed to relax after a little while as though knowing what Bella was doing though he still turned and twitched now again as though ready to spring into action.
'Yeah, he is good thanks. Yeah your dad is so sweet' laughing thinking of his funny sayings and cheeky grin that Jake had inherited.
'Sweet? More like annoying' Jake looked out to the tree line and saw Leah and Sam standing there Quill appearing in-between them both like a human barrier.
Nina noticed the change in Fox first as he became rigid and ears pointing towards the forest, Nina and Jake sitting side by side, Fox between them not standing ready to go.
Nina looked at the tall, slight guy standing in the middle, his hair shaved underneath and up in a bun, a soft look on his face though only in cut off jeans, Nina was shocked to see nothing on his feet, he was chewing on something, or perhaps talking, unsure as they were a little way away,
Ninas eyes darting over to the lean and tan skinned girl with a choppy bob framing her frown as her arms were folded tightly across her chest, Nina was certain that she had seen her before, she used to be with Sam the shorter guy with a thunderous look on his face.
Sam was looking at Jake and the strange girl, who was she and why was she there? Quill was wondering if Bella was ever found and if not why Jake wasn't going out of his mind.
'Who is that?' Leah asked almost dripping venom not wanting some bitch prowling around the pack causing rifts of trouble.
'Easy girl, don't be jealous' Quill retreated as her balled up fist went hurtling towards her.
'Pack it in' Sam scolding them like misbehaving children.
Fox was now barking, Nina poked his back end to make him stop but he didn't his hackles raised up as the hairs on Leahs neck raised up ready to take down the mutt if it went for them.
'STOP' Nina barked out almost making Jake jump at the change of character Fox stopped but continue to growl and stalk the three that were standing looking at them.
'OI Fox, Heel up!' she said standing up he stopped and didn't want to look away from the threat.
'Sit DOWN' Nina herself growled as Fox sat down looking at her rolling over onto his back surrendering to his master.
'Bad dog' she clicked her fingers and he sprang up his nose against her fingers, there was no fuss.
'Sorry about him' Nina shook her head at Fox, wondering what was wrong with him.
'I bet she could get Paul to behave after a few classes' Leah said as Quill laughed that echoes across the field.
'We need to see if Bella is okay' Sam stated as Leah groaned internally and Quill just kept quiet, it seemed to be the easiest and beat option.
'If we must' the exasperated tone make Jake glare at her.
'Let me know how Bella gets on' Nina looked at the people approaching, feeling like it was her time to leave.
'Thanks again Nina' Jake said as Fox stuck by her side, not moving away from her.
Climbing in the truck Fox sitting shotgun with the window down kissing his muzzle, he was naughty but also the best boy, licking her face as she set off, turning the key, ready to tell her Dad about her morning before her lunch shift at the florist they had a wedding soon so it was imperative to make the most of the free time she had whilst it was warm and dry.
'How's Bella?' Sam asked Jake stood up looking down to Leah.
'Fine, not that you could give a damn' turning and walking into the house closing the door firmly behind him, gripping the door handle tightly warping it to the shape of his hand.
'Babe? You okay?' Jake called though, knocking on the door, seeing Bella looking at her cut legs, he walked into the steam filled room, kneeling taking her thin leg in his hands and wanting to take it all away, make the pain go, the confusion, the conflict as well as the frustration, make his girl better wishing he could have been the protector he thought he was.
'I saw him, Edward h-he wanted me to follow him, and I did. I didn't think twice' Bella admitted still staring straight at her feet as Jakes hands stilled and slowed.
'So you followed him?' Jake asked hurt
'Yeah, I can't remember Jake I did at the time but it feels like it was hours ago that it all happened. I just went with him' her head bowing down feeling so stupid.
'You're safe now' Jake rubbed her shoulder softly. 'Because some dog found me' Bella seemed to laugh at herself.
'Hey, come on' Jake said but Bella was wallowing, as well and angry at herself for skipping down the road to danger with out even looking for any signs.
'Jeeze Jake needs to realise we are on his side soon or I'm not falling for his cries for help' Leah turned phasing and bounding into the woods letting off steam. 'I'll find out what's going on' Sam said looking in the direction Leah had gone off in.
'So I'll just stand here I guess' Quill said with a deep sigh swinging his arms around looking a little lost, checking his phone and texting Embry to see what was going on at the garage.
