Artemis Fowl Drabble
Word prompt: Salt and pepper by Liris (Thank you, btw)
The morning was bright and warm, streaks of sunlight bouncing off the walls in the kitchen. Artemis had just arrived downstairs, to find the delicious and irresistible scent of bacon and half-boiled eggs waft its way up his pale nose. Smiling slightly, he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his Armani pants and strolled into the room. At the stove was Butler who was, as usual, making breakfast. It was just the two of them present in the Manor on that particular day, and Artemis planned to make the most of his time without any squealing children. Taking his seat at the table, Butler offered him a cup of Earl Grey tea as he started to cook the rest of the meal.
Sipping on his tea, he watched as his manservant prepared breakfast, occasionally using a spice or two from the cabinet on the left. Currently, he was using some salt on the raw strips of meat while on his left was a bottle of pepper. Opposites, he mused to himself silently.
The sudden word brought strange other thoughts to his mind ordinary people wouldn't have considered thinking. But then again, it seemed like everything he did or thought these days, he would relate to her. It was true; they were both complete opposites, like salt and pepper is. He was a criminal while she a cop, he cold and merciless while she warm and compassionate…the list would have gone on and on. They were water and oil, sun and moon, light and dark, hot and cold…
"Complete opposites, salt and pepper…" He murmured, not noticing.
Butler turned to his charge, an eyebrow raised in surprise. Wiping his hands on a napkin, he left the last of breakfast to his charge, his face fixed in a thoughtful look. Artemis watched as Butler headed towards the door curiously. "While that maybe true…" Butler concluded slowly, "They complement each other. After all, how do you think you get such tasty bacon everyday?" He winked at Artemis, something he did very rarely, as he left the kitchen.
They complemented each other, Butler had obviously pointed out. Artemis settled on his seat comfortably, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
A/N: Didn't work out as well as I would have liked, but there's the next. As usual, prompt me please, and review.
