Steven universe Three gems ch 2

Onyx was led to an arena sized training ground. Lined up were several dark colored gems from Hemitites to Diopsides practicing their sparing moves in perfect sync under the teachings of a pale blue gem with white hair, her gem located on her lower back.

"Moonstone." called the amethyst guard, gaining the attention of the white haired gem.

"One moment students." Moonstone said in a soft, mellow tone to her students before turning to the other two gems. "Yes?"

"Blue Diamond requests you to take this one in your care." The Amethyst shoved Onyx before moonstone, who looked down at him with a gentle look.

"An Onyx?" she said warmly, "Why I haven't seen an Onyx in half a millennium. Please do give my regards to blue Diamond, I will see to it that he is well trained." at that she placed her hands together and leaned forward in a bow.

The Amethyst just rolled her eyes before leaving Onyx with his new sensei.
Onyx looked up at Moonstone, saluting to her respectfully. "There's no need for that my child." she said to him, placing his hands down. "This is a safe place."

Back on Pink's colony, Jasper was roaming out of the beta kindergarten into the desert while Fire Opal followed her.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Jasper took the time to lay some ground rules with the new gem.
"Alright squirt," she said roughly. "Since we're gonna be together for the time being, let's get some facts straight."

She held up a finger. "Rule one. I am in charge. That means you have to what I say, when I say. Got it?" Fire opal just looked up at her and smiled innocently.

"Rule 2, as gems our purpose is to serve the great diamond authority. Meaning we live up to their expectations. For instance as a quartz my duty is to serve as one of their soldiers, where as Fire opals, such as yourself-..." she paused suddenly, at a loss for words.

"Yes?" said Fire Opal patiently, smiling.

Jasper racked her thoughts. When she had recently first emerged she knew what her purpose was for the diamond authority but hadn't really taken the time to study up on the use of other gems on Homeworld other than their powers and abilities and which court they belong in.
She knew Fire opals were normally made for yellow diamond's court but what they did for her, Jasper wasn't sure. She also knew that these types of Opals had pyrokinetic powers, but unlike ruby soldiers whose fire powers were linked to their emotions, Fire opals can mentally control fire with their minds much better than rubies.

"...N-never mind about that." Jasper said, "Rule 3, according to Fuscia. If anything goes wrong both of our gems will be on the line."

"Okay!" Chirped Fire Opal.

"I mean it!" snarled Jasper. "If one toe gets out of line, we're both shattered. We cannot afford to make mistakes got it?"

"Relax. I'm more than prepared."

"Don't get over confident. Now the first thing we should do first is try out is your fire powers."

"Oh you mean this?" Fire opal's body suddenly caught fire, Much to Jasper's surprise, before going out. "or how bout this?" she made three fire balls appear and juggled them, then throwing them in the air where they dissipated. "Or maybe this?" she held up a thumb, took a deep breath, and stuck the other thumb in her mouth, blowing, erupting another flame on the first thumb. Then stuck the second into the ember until the tip of both thumbs caught fire and she gave the two thumbs up to Jasper who just stood mouth agape before they went out. "Oh! Oh! or how about this!" and before the larger gem knew it a flaming pair of wings emitted from the smaller's back. Fire opal leapt up in the air and flew around, hollering in excitement, and doing loop de loops and twirls in the air, showing off. Jasper was exasperated.

"How about-"

"I get it! I get it, I've seen enough." Jasper huffed pinched her brow irritably after Fire Opal came down. Apparently this gem was naturally gifted so what reason did she have to watch over her? "Looks like you have it taken care of. You're on your own." She turned on her heel and walked away back to the kindergarten, mumbling to herself. Opal watched her confusedly.
