He guided him in cleaning the wound and sterilizing the tools. He watched his hands shake and tense up, fighting back a flinch when needle and suture pierced through skin and flesh. He taught him to stitch and tie the knot correctly. He accompanied him through. He taught them, one after another, boys and girls, to take care of themselves and each other, till clumsy hands became steady and speeding hearts were finally calm and determined. And then all his teaching would last.

This lifetime service was not just a promise for him to keep. It was his mission. Even death could not stop him from accomplishing it.
