"Shh. There's no one else in the hallway," she said as she pushed him against the side and placed a long passionate kiss upon his lips.

Momentarily he froze, unused to such familiar and intimate acts until recently. And even now it was unbelievable that this was happening to him. He carefully slid his hands behind her neck and deepened the kiss.

God, this woman scared him.

She removed his hands and held them in her own as she slowly pulled away from him. Gradually his senses began to return and he opened his eyes. She was looking at him and he swore he never felt so exposed in his life.

Why do I have to be on a damn spaceship right now? He thought to himself.

His brief thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and Marie calmly let go of his hands and placed herself casually by his side. Although he was certain his face gave it all away when the lieutenant who had passed by looked him right in the eye as if he disapproved. He met his subordinates gaze and gave him the most frightening glower he could muster, causing the man to quicken his pace.

A hand caressed his shoulder. "We should get out of here," she spoke as she guided him in the opposite direction.

"Wait," he said softly, stopping her. "I don't really understand the exact details of how I feel right now, but I want you to know that…"

He stepped closer to her and for that moment, clichéd as it may be, it felt as if time slowed. The rising and falling of her chest and the way she looked right into his eyes, not revealing a single thought of her own, would forever remain in his memory.

He would forever recall the moment when he first told Marie...

"I love you," he said too late. He looked to his wedding band and then back to his living quarters that held his wife, and he felt guilty.

A/N: Thanks to Valkerie, Trekkie2, danigolightly, and bookdragon01 for reviewing the first chapter of this which was originally a one-shot! I hope to continue working on the story as I feel I've got something planned out! But of course rarely does anything ever go as planned!
