DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN MERLIN!

The sound of leaves crunching and fallen branches snapping underfoot sliced through the silent forest as a shadowed figure fast approached a parting in the dense surrounding forest. Tiny slivers of moon light broke through the thick canopy overhead, lighting the way for the stranger in black. The light wind kissed the leaves as it blew past like a whisper. Finally arriving at its destination the mysterious figure walked to the centre of the clearing looking around the surrounding foliage as if looking for something. Not long after the bushes rustled to the figures left causing the cloaked man to smile into the darkness. 2 cloaked men stepped into the clearing from the bush, one in midnight blue the other a dark forest green, perfect for sneaking around at night. The new arrivals bowed to the man in the middle before standing at either side of him on a slight angle facing the surrounding woods. The group stood patiently, searching with their eyes as the sound of footfall along the forest floor alerted them to another. 2 more people emerged from the dense trees one clad in royal blue and the other in a muddy brown cloak, joined the circle, completing it.

"I'm glad you finally made it" the black cloaked man said to his men. They all bowed in greeting before straightening up. There was a beat of silence in the clearing until the man cloaked in forest green cleared his throat.

"Sire? You wished to see us?" he asked curiously.

The man smiled over at his companion before removing his hood. The man short raven locks, high cheek bones and startling blue eyes. He was pale and lanky with lean muscles but held himself like a king.

"Ah George, no need for formalities you know this. Now as to why I called you all here it seems and old friend has tried to contact me." He said.

The remaining men removed there hoods. The man in midnight blue has shaggy blond hair which slightly covers his deep brown eyes. He has the build of any knight of Camelot and carries a sword at his hip that just visible from under his cloak. The man in muddy brown has brown hair that reaches his shoulders, his eyes are icy blue but have a gentle look to them. He his tall and has the body of a swimmer. The man wearing royal blue has short clipped blond hair with blue-grey eyes with the build of a seasoned knight; he seemed to be the oldest of the group. The last man is wearing a forest green cloak has long black hair and hazel eyes with a lanky build and not much muscle.

"Are you being purposefully cryptic? It's too late at night for riddles" the blond haired brown eyed man said irritably.

"Hush Will, I know your tired but this is important." The leader replied patiently.

Will shut up then and looked at his leader waiting for him to continue.

"I got a message from my old friend from Cameliard saying he needs my help, Will I need you and Thomas to send a message to Freya and Ada informing them of my quest and George and Lucian I need you to stay with me while I call for him." The man said.

Will and the man wearing the brown cloak, Thomas, bowed to their leader before flipping there hoods back up and striding into the surrounding forest and out of sight to complete their mission.

"Stand back my friends" the man in black said while taking a step forward.

"O drakon, e male so ftengometta tesd'hup'anankes!" the man roared to the sky before stepping back in line with his shocked friends.

"Merlin what was that? Some kind of spell?" Lucian asked shocked by the inhuman roar that just escaped his lanky friend.

Merlin rolled his eyes slightly before saying "I'm calling a friend I already told you that Lucian."

"Wow" George muttered still amazed.

"B b bu But I haven't heard anything like that since, well since…" Lucian stuttered.

"My father, I know." Merlin finished sadly before the wind picked up and the distant sound of wings beating against the air to keep a large body airborne got louder until you could see the large form of a dragon descend from the sky.

The loud thump vibrating throughout the clearing signalled the dragons landing. As the group looked up to the mighty creature before them Merlin stepped forward and bowed his head in respect. The dragon returned the gesture before is golden eyes travelled around the clearing, calculating the other members of the group.

"Kilgharrah my friend you said you needed my help." Merlin stated as the dragons eyes returned to the young lord before him.

"Indeed Merlin. Princess Ada has been targeted. Your father tasked me with looking out and protecting his children but I cannot save Princess Ada as I have to remain hidden. Dragons are meant to be extinct I must not be seen or I will be hunted. You and your remaining knights have 3 days to get to Ealdor to protect My Lady. I'm sorry young Dragonlord if I had known earlier I would have contacted you sooner." Kilgharrah bowed his head in shame while the group stared stunned at what the dragon said.

"We leave in an hour, George you stay here. I will contact you once we get to Ealdor and the Princess is safe." Merlin said "Lucian, Will and Thomas pack a small bag and get a horse from the stables. We shall meet in the courtyard. Don't be seen!" Merlin ordered. The group nodded before pulling their hoods back up and disappearing into the surrounding forest.

"Thank you Kilgharrah I will need you on standby in case something goes wrong. Wait in the nearby cave I will contact you if your needed." Merlin said then bowed respectfully to the large dragon. Kilgharrah bowed his head before spreading his wings saying

"Your father would be so proud Merlin." Before taking flight and disappearing into the night sky.

Merlin sighed heavily and ran a bony hand through his raven locks. Flicking his hood back up, he turned around and walked into the forest blending with the darkness.
