Disclaimer: If I owned Power Rangers, I wouldn't be writing fanfiction, I'd be writing new plots for a better show.
Author's Note: I was organizing my documents and found the original chapter of this story and some outlines for what is next. Please enjoy this little spark of inspiration.

Tokyo was quiet, almost unusually quiet on such an ordinary day. A lone figure stood watch on a corner street from the shrine. Amongst the shorter Asian forms she was a head above the rest. Yet, even because of this, no one seemed to notice her. Standing. Watching.
"Hurry Usagi-chan or you'll make us all late!" Another blonde yelled from down the sidewalk.
As if on cue a strange haired young lady ran around the corner and face plants in front of the silent woman. Her group of friends assist her up; commenting on how she hasn't changed since they were younger. Without even looking the tall women could sense the object as it glimmered in the sun. No one else seemed to notice the stunning item, but the woman picked it up as if called to, and went on her way.
The raven haired priestess smiled widely as her rambunctious group of friends approached her hushed temple. Less young girls come by these days since she stopped giving out luck charms. It never was the same without her grandfather.
"Thanks for coming everyone," she spoke as the gathered in front of her. "I assume the tardiness was because of Usagi," she tried to keep her tone friendly at the slight jab to her dearest friend. Usagi's face contorted in frustration. Rei embraced her and added, "At least the Americans did not make you fat."
"I'll take that as a compliment, Rei," the blonde laughed back at her sarcastically.
Rei led the group back through the temple to her private quarters. Soft mumbling could be heard beyond the rice doors, but this did not stop the group from interrupting the silence as it was their first time being together in years.
Once they arrived at their destination Ami jumped right into business. "What's the news, Rei? Why have you brought us altogether?" Looking around Res noticed that not all parties have arrived.
"We should wait for the others before we continue." Her voice was grave, which did not show outside.
As if on cue the door opened. "Rei," everyone turned to find Yuuichirou peeking beyond the sliding door. "I believe this belongs to your friend…Usagi. A woman dropped it off saying that she dropped it in the street." He held out the heart shaped locket.
Usagi instantly jumped up and grabbed it holding her hand behind her head sheepishly. "Thanks, Yuuichirou."
To her great luck, Setsuna and Hotaru entered before Rei could scold Usagi. "Yuuichirou, please let this woman know that we are very grateful of her honesty," Rei directed Yuuichirou quickly back out the door. "Please offer her a free fire reading or charm."
Yuuichirou could be heard saying something along the lines of the laying leaving straight away and that she was no longer there but Rei continued to guide him away from the group. When Rei returned she squinted her eyes at Usagi and sighed deeply.
"Now that we are all…"
"But Michiru and Haruka haven't arrived yet," Makoto chimed in.
"They have a show tonight," Hotaru added solemnly. She'd grown into an almost identical twin of Rei, and continued to live in Michiru and Haruka's home while they were on tour. "They invited us all to come see their final show. The lead offered to let them stay in her home which is apparently a mansion of sorts."
This announcement caused an uproar amongst everyone. Everyone talking excitedly over each other about these plans.
A loud whistle caught their attention and they all looked over at Usagi. "As much as I would like to discuss additional travel plans, let's see what Rei has to say," she stated matter-of-factly. It was moments like this Rei could see their future Queen clear as day. "Besides, then we can get back to planning our trips quicker."
Rei smiled knowing to appreciate these times, since darker ones were sure to come. "I will try to keep this brief, but the fires have been unsettled lately. I have been monitoring them for several months and there is something growing. Some latent evil I know is rising." Her voice fell silent at the end of her short speech, as if she felt helpless and small. She could hear a question being asked in the distance, but when she looked up she was surrounded by the stars.
In the distance she could see the galaxy, but most noticeably the sun which first glowed brightly and shaded over causing all of the surrounding planets and starts to disappear. A horrible screeching sound was coming from the same direction of the galaxy, and as each planet was engulfed in darkness it became louder. Rei crouched down, closed her eyes tight, and covered her ears trying to protect herself from being swallowed whole.
A warmth surrounded her though. Faintly, at first, she heard her name. Then she felt the arms around her, and the smell of roses hit her nostrils. She found herself in the same crouched position, and unable to remove her hands from her ears. It was only then that she realized the sound she heard was coming from herself. With all of her current mental power she forced herself to stop. With only a whisper into Usagi's ear did she finally speak, "I am certain we are in danger, Your Highness."
The rest of the group looked on with considerable concern. Setsuna could be seen speaking to Yuuichirou who was trying with all his might to get a look at Rei. Since her Grandfather's death he was determined to help take care of her, and protect her - much to her amusement.
Usagi gently stroked Rei's hair.
"Maybe a trip isn't a good idea right now," Minako spoke softly, not ready to urge Rei to speak further about her visions. The priestess was the strongest willed person she knew and even she feared what Rei would say next.
"No," Rei looked up. Her eyes glazed over from her most recent vision - no - experience. "We should stay together, and the trip will be the only way to be near Haruka and Michiru."
"Rei, how often is this happening?" Ami was effectively scanning Rei with her handheld computer, trying to make some scientific connection to what they just witnessed. She also hesitated to ask specifics. Knowing Rei will share the information when she is ready.
"Only three times before today. Every time has been different, but equally as intense." Rei stood up slowly. "There is a darkness that encompasses the sun and then the rest of the galaxy…I didn't see what happens next…it was suffocating."
A chill passed through the group, each one looking to each other for support. "Right," Usagi looked to her senshi. "I agree that we should stay together. I'll phone Mamoru and let him know there has been a change of plans. Hotaru, do you have any more information about where we are headed?"
Hotaru shook her head indicating she had no additional information. "Setsuna, have you seen anything?" She turned to her former guardian, hoping that the Time senshi had in sight to their current foe.
Having successfully appeased Chad, Setsuna made an attempt at accessing the Door to Space and Time. She was not surprised to find that she was locked out. "Seems that we are on a course that requires all of us."
There was a lot of planning to do.
