It was the day of the Cooking Festival and Komatsu had butterflies in his stomach. "Toriko-San, I don't know if I can do this! I mean there will be so many other fam-" Toriko cut him off by saying " Don't worry Komatsu, you'll do fine! Beside we're here to cheer you on." he said jesturing to his fellow kings.

And as it turns out Toriko was right Komatsu mused to himself as he stood with his fellow chef Zaus in the beginning of Championship Cooking! Even though he was nervous he knew his partner was supporting him on the sidelines. After they heard how this was going to work; you go in the not-at-all-menacing, dark tent and looked for ingredients to use, some easy to prepare others...oh dear. As soon as he entered he found himself touching something hot, burning even. He then looked up sensing something was off. It was. He looked up and screamed, hearing Toriko-San's cry of rage outside."I came to get you, Kid." he said grabbing Komatsu's arm.
After a terror filled moment, Toriko appeared behind Starjun,grabbing his shoulder. After his partner conversed with Starjun, fire suddenly spread through out the tent. He could hear the crowd ripple with confusion and horror. He was flung away from the two like a ragdoll and if not for Sunny, it would have been a rough landing. Though it still hurt when Sunny dropped him after his hair got cut by a terrifying bug thing.
After that he got flung to and fro through the chaos until he met Coco, who was in the froes of his own battle with the creepy mosquito guy. So very creepy. Coco told him to go to Toriko and with the help of Yun that is exactly where he was heading. With a few crash landing, he got there only to be met with a heart stopping scene. His partner was a bloody mess, looked unconscious, and was hanging from Starjun's fist. Then Starjun noticed him. Uh-oh.
After he screamed his partner's name as Starjun came towards him and his partner answered his call, they initiated a bloody dance of skill and before Komatsu knew it his partner had lost and he made a dangerous deal to save him.
