"Attention students," calls the principal, an Erudite woman in her mid 40's, "We have two special speakers this parents day, the parents of William Eaton have revealed a secret that they have kept hidden for almost two decades.
"They told all their friends and relatives to keep quiet about the fact that they are the legendary Six and Four who saved our city from Jeanine Matthews and the Beauro of Genetic Welfare.
"They are now ready to share their experiences with us and I ask that you give them your full undivided attention as this is a great opportunity. Please give a warm welcome to Four and Six!" she finishes and Tobias and I walk onto the stage, holding hands.
I take the microphone she offers to me, I look at the crowd and see what looks like all the students from lower, middle, and upper schools are here.
"Thank you for that welcome, and please call us by our real names, Tris and Tobias," Tobias says and I nod as we take a seat, still holding hands.
"Well, Tris and Tobias, I have some questions here on these cards that were submitted by students and I will be asking you these questions, if you don't want to answer, you can always decline," she says and I smile gratefully at her.
"First question: How did you get so brave, from a lower levels student," she says and we think about it for a moment.
"I guess we make each other brave, but having half the average number of fears helps too," I say with a laugh and continue, "Tobias and I were born Abnegation so we did not have any luxuries to be taken away from us," I say and she nods.
"Also, it helps to be brave when you do those things to save people you care about, you end up doing brave things without thinking and only realizing after the fact that what you did might be reckless," Tobias says and I roll my eyes.
"You're never going to let it go that I went to Erudite to be a lab rat to save people, are you," I ask and he shakes his head,
"Never will I forget what is was like waking up and realizing you had gone to what very well could have been your death, no I don't think I can forget that," he says and I squeeze his hand.
"Next question," the principle says, trying to get the ball rolling again, "was it part of the plan to let Six go into the weapons lab, I never thought Four would let her, from an upper levels student" I raise my eyebrows at that one.
"No, originally my brother was supposed to be the one going in but I went in last minute, Tobias didn't let me do anything, it has nothing to do with what he let me do," I say, getting a little angry but Tobias's hand rubbing my back calms me down.
"I had gone on a special mission in the city while all this was happening, but even if I was there, I couldn't have stopped her, she would have kicked my butt," Tobias says, shrugging his shoulders and I laugh a little at him along with the rest of the school, quite murmurs here and there.
The principle gives us a smile, "Onto the next question: Why did you hide who you are for so long, isn't it nice to have fame and be recognised? From a mid level student,"
"We hid who we were because we wanted a chance a normal life, same for our children, both of us had to grow far beyond our years to kill people, try to save the ones we cared about, and lose many along the way.
"We did not have a chance at anything remotely normal from ages 16 and 18 and we knew that we would never have that if people knew who we were so we kept it hidden for almost two decades.
"The only reason we are here today is because Will got too smart for his own good and figured it out. With our children's support, we are finally able to share our story and tell them how their parents met each other, which is quite a funny story," Tobias says with a grin.
"Tell us the story!" yells a kid from the crowd and the group yells ascent, the principal looks at us for permission and we nod.
"It all started when Tris was a scrawny little Abnegation girl who fell into Dauntless life," Tobias starts and I hit his arm, rolling my eyes.
"Tobias helped me into Dauntless and I think I had feelings for him right at the start but I kept lying to myself, he was my instructor and it felt wrong but it got stronger everyday," I say and Tobias gives me a smile.
"I just fell head first into the deep end, liked her from the moment I saw her, no point in denying it, I was also the first one to say, 'I love you' and the one you initiated the first kiss," he says and I hear some of the girls in crowd sigh while the boys pretend to throw up.
"Anyway, we had no more that an instructor/initiate relationship during the first stage for training, the physical stage that gives you more than a few sore muscles and trips to the hospital," Tobias says and I nod.
"And a cut ear on the ear," I remind him and he grins,
"And a cut on the ear," he agrees
"The other initiation instructor who was a Dauntless leaders and traitor until he died in the war, was cruel and made Four throw knives at one of my friend's heads.
"My Abnegation roots took over and I stood up to Eric, he made me stand in front of the target instead of him. Four ended up cutting my earlobe, Eric would have made him throw knives all day if he didn't."
Again, more sighs from the girls and comments on how perfect we are for each other.
"Are there any more questions?" I ask the principle.
"Yes, actually, here is a question from an upper levels student: How many friends helped you and how many did you lose along the way?" she asks and I tense up a bit, this will be hard but I am determind to answer.
"Well, the friend who has been with me through thick and thin is my best friend, Christina Ronalds, she is actually our children's godmother. It is amazing that Christina and I are still friends, we have been friends since we were sixteen.
"One friend we both lost was Uriah Pedrad who was killed at the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, we have stayed good friends with his brother and his brother's wife Shauna and Zeke Pedrad.
"Two people who were very important to us were Marlene and Lynn, Marlene died during a simulation that made her step off a roof and Lynn died in the factionless attack on Erudite.
"We lost a lot of lives in Erudite almost including a lot of our friends. Another person we lost who was dear to everyone in Dauntless was Tori Wu, she died trying to get out of the fence, little did she know her brother was alive on the other side."
I have to stop and take a moment to regain my composure, luckily, Tobias starts talking.
"One person who we are not exactly friends with is Nita Rodreges, she gave us information that was vital to our success when releasing the memory serum.
"Another member of the Beauro that helped us was Matthew Hamilton, without him, we never would have had a chance of making in to the weapons lab, same goes for Cara White.
"We would also like to recognise the death of her brother, William White. During the attack simulation, Tris was forced to kill him or she would have died herself, that's why we named out son after him," Tobias says with a sad smile, placing his hand over mine.
"Okay, I have one more question from an upper levels student: How do you live a normal life when you have been through so much?" she asks and I share a look with Tobias.
"Well, the first thing you need to understand is that we do not have normal lives, both Tobias and I wake up screaming at night quite often. We try to live the way normal people would but when you have the blood of so many on you're hands, it can be very difficult.
"I want everyone to know that it can get better, I know a lot of you're parents were in the war and are just as broken as us. You have to feel the pain and let yourself move on." I say with tears running down my face.
"It also helps to have a loving family, Tris has always been there for me and I for her, things only got better when we had kids becasue we realized that we had people who needed us and it gave us a greater purpose." Tobias says and I take his face in my hands and give him a small kiss.
The crowd of students clap so loud I can't hear the principle but she motions for us to go off stage. We wave goodbye and walk off, hand in hand together.
As soon as we walk of stage I launch into Tobias's arms and let myself bury my face into his shirt while he rubs my back. Even though I feel drained, I also feel happy, we did something to help people and shared our story.
