Chapter Two: Sesshomaru's Return
A week had long since passed since Sesshomaru was suddenly pulled away for business. This was not an uncommon thing for the Lord. But it had left the young Miko in a state of confusion and yearning for the demon lord to return. The scene in the garden continually played through her mind of the demon lord pinning her against the tree. The thought sent a shiver of pleasure to run up the Miko's spine. She closed her hazelnut eyes a soft smile playing on her soft pink lips as she fantasized about the demon lord.
Ashia had kept a close eye on the young woman while her lord was away. The entire castle knew about the incident in the garden between their lord and their hopefully soon to be lady of the western lands. It had been to long since the castle had heard the soft cries of a babe through out the halls of the castle. Ashia smiled at the thought of the powerful demon lord and miko joining as one and making their castle a home again. The elderly maid peered into the room of the miko, which had coincidently been the room next to Sesshomaru's mainly reserved for the lady of the western lands during a courting period. Her eyes landed on the supposedly sleeping form of Kagome, the young woman lay on her stomach her bare back exposed to the warm morning sun rays her long onyx hair laid sprawled out around her.
"She is truly a sight to see is she not?" Said a smooth velvety voice over Ashia's shoulder. The elder woman jumped from surprise as she turned to face the demon general. "Kai, you know very well you should not say such things about Kagome." The elder woman said in a scolding tone. The emerald green eyes of the general lit up as he laughed, "They are not married yet so I am allowed to look. And we all are only assuming she will marry him or he marries her. You of all people should know Sesshomaru is not the marrying type. You have watched the Lord grow up he does not have a soft spot for humans, well except for Rin." The general said with a shrug of his shoulders when he added the last statement.
Ashia smiled with a knowing look in her eyes as she looked back at the Miko lying on the bed, "Kagome is not a normal girl Kai. You will understand soon enough." Kai rolled his eyes at the elder woman she always tended to know something he did not and it was a waste of his time to try and pry it out of her he had learned that a few decades ago. A resounding smack was heard through the halls as the elder maid hit the youthful general against the back of the head. "What was that for you old hag." Kai said rubbing the back of his head glaring at Ashia. "It is rude to roll one's eyes. It will do you well to remember that." Ashia said in a motherly stern tone. "Yes 'mother' dearest." The general answered in a sarcastic tone. "Go tend to your pupils I have already sent them to the dojo for morning training. It won't look good for the teacher to be late now would it?" Ashia said with a smile.
Kai's shoulders slumped as he headed towards the dojo knowing he had to overly energetic students waiting on him. Ashia turned her attention back to Kagome as she slipped silently into the room closing the wooden door behind her close. Kagome's eyes snapped open as she heard the clicking of the door closing. She smiled seeing her favorite elder lady in her room she sat up holding the white silk sheets to her body, "Good morning Ashia. How are you this morning?" She asked as she stood with the sheet now wrapped around her body. "Very well Kagome. I take it you slept well." The elder woman said as she tossed a kimono onto the changing screen for Kagome as the young miko slipped behind it. "Yes thank you Ashia. May I confide in you with something?" The young woman asked as she pulled the kimono over the screen dropping the silk sheet out for Ashia to have. The elder woman picked up the sheet, "You know you may confide anything in me."
Kagome came out from behind the screen wearing a silk white kimono with pink sakura blossoms blowing about the fabric. "Ashia I cannot stand it any longer. I dream about him, I am beginning to think I can even feel his touch in my sleep. These dreams feel so real. I am giddy when I talk about him even when I think about the handsome face of this demon god." Ashia smiled as she listened to Kagome gush about a certain demon lord while she made the bed with fresh sheets. "Ashia I am terrified to admit this, but I think I am in love with Sesshomaru.." Kagome said in a soft whisper as if afraid her words would seep through the walls and everyone in the castle would hear her confession.
The elder woman laughed at the sudden shyness of the young miko, she walked over to Kagome who sat infront of her vanity mirror combing out her hair. Ashia took the brush from the young woman's hand taking over the task for her. "Kagome if you ever want to experience life you have to allow yourself to love. It is a part of life." She kissed the top of the young girl's head in a motherly way. "Allow yourself to love again." She whispered into the young miko's ear.
Kagome looked at her reflection the words the elderly woman had said touching deeper into her soul than Ashia would ever know. She had taken herself out of the running for falling in love ever since Inuyasha only saw her as a replica of his dead lover. She never had time in her era to even try dating and the only one who ever seemed interested in here was Hojo but she had her doubts even about that. Her shoulders slumped at the thought that she would grow old and alone that was one of her greatest fears. She looked at her reflection a glimmer of determination flashed into her eyes; she would allow her heart to lead her blindly if that is what it took. The young miko was brought from her musings by the resounding of trumpets announcing the return of the Lord of the manor. "He's home." She said softly with a hint of nervousness in her voice.
Guards stood at full attention as they saw their master approaching. Many tried to keep a glazed over stare straight ahead as they noticed the gorgeous Inu demoness hanging off their normally stoic demon lord. The woman wore a crimson red kimono with two black dragons intertwining on the back, it clung to her every curve. Her long silver hair was pulled back into a high pony tail that traveled down her back resting just below her lower back. Her lips were painted red to match her kimono that had slits up the sides that traveled up to her thighs showed off her long slender legs. The scent of arousal coming from his guards made Sesshomaru snarl as he passed them. His amber eyes fell upon the woman beside him his stomach churned at the thought he was betrothed to this vixen due to a treaty. The guards quickly snapped to attention. They knew better than to cross their lord, too many of their comrades had succumb to his anger to make them learn their lesson.
Rin's face lit up as she saw her father figure returning she ran straight into Sesshomaru's legs attaching herself to her lord. "Maru! You returned to Rin." Kai was close behind the young girl trying to stop her from running into their lord. He had noticed the new woman and had a feeling it would not do for the ward to make her presence known to the woman yet. Sadly Kai was not fast enough to catch the girl from meeting the new woman. Sesshomaru patted his young ward gently on the head; he glanced at the woman hanging off his other arm as she visibly cringed at the sight of his ward.
"Rin this Sesshomaru has told you numerous times before his person will return." He said calmly. Rin smiled up at him ignoring the woman beside him, "Yes but this time you came back to be with Kagome." She said taking his hand into hers trying to led him towards the miko's room so they could make up. She had noticed Kagome missing her father figure while he was away, "She has missed you. You must come see her it will make her very happy Maru." The young girl kept babbling on about the miko filling her Lord in on all the things that had been happening while he was gone with the Kagome and everyone else. Sesshomaru was rather impressed with his young ward's memory of all the events in order. He would remember to commend Kagome for her work with Rin's education thus far. His attention was pulled away from his musings by the woman by his side.
"Who is this Kagome woman this human child keeps talking about, my dear?" A cold, venomous voice said. Rin looked at the Inu demoness narrowing her eyes at the woman, "She is Lord Sesshomaru's soon to be mate, duh!" She said in a matter fact of voice. Rin looked up Sesshomaru, "Right Maru?" She asked with pleading eyes' hoping what she thought was true.
Sesshomaru looked down at his young ward, "Rin this Sesshomaru will not be taking the miko as a mate." He said in his normal cold tone, he heard a soft gasp from the stairwell the moment those words passes his lips. He felt his heart clench as the soft scent of Kagome assaulted his nose. This was not how he wanted to see Kagome or for her to see him. He had much to explain to her yet about what was going on between him and the woman on his arm.
Kagome had come down to meet Sesshomaru on his arrival she froze on the steps as her ears caught his statement. She felt her heart clench and her knees grow weak as she heard the proclamation from the cold demon lord. Her hands clutched onto the railing of the stairs in an attempt to keep herself up right. But her world was starting to become blurred as a whirl wind of emotions swept through her body, she began to tumble forward.
The western lord caught sight of the miko on the stairwell he watched as his loyal servant Ashia caught the young woman before she fell down the stairs. His attention was pulled away from the miko by the vixen beside him. The woman was lavishing his neck with attention, "You will stop this indecent act in front of this Sesshomaru's court Kyra." The western lord said with a bored tone. Kyra was taken back by his tone of voice with her, not once while they were alone did he address her in such a manner. He turned to one of his maids, "Take this woman to this Sesshomaru's bed chambers and show her around the castle in the process." He then left for his study. Kyra watched her demon lover leave her she glared at his retreating figure 'how dare he leave me.' She thought to herself as she followed the maid around the palace.
Ashia helped Kagome back to her room, she watched helplessly as the young woman was doubled over empting her stomach of all its contents. The miko's whole body was trembling as tears ran down her cheeks she could not believe he had stooped so low to rid himself of her. "Why would he do that? I thought he had honor, is that not required of a lord?" Kagome said as Ashia gently washed Kagome's face with a cool rag to cool down the young miko.
"Unfortunately, my dear that is not a requirement of any Lord. Though I did believe our lord had some manners from his mother. Sadly I believe he has lost all concepts his mother taught him." Ashia said with a venomous tone. "His mother would be ashamed of her son's actions of late." This caught Kagome's attention, "What do you mean Ashia?"
The older woman smiled as she thought fondly of her previous mistress "She raised Sesshomaru to be a loving and loyal boy. She taught him his daily lessons the two were always seen together. Until she became ill, at the same time his father began courting Inuyasha's mother. The lady began to become violently ill when ever her soul mate was away with the other woman. Eventually she became so sick it killed her." Ashia's eyes fell upon the young woman infront of her she did not want to see her suffer through the same fate Sesshomaru's mother had suffered through. The very sight of another woman on Sesshomaru had made Kagome ill. Hopefully this was not the start of Kagome suffering the same fate the previous Lady of the Western land suffered. She only hoped Sesshomaru and this new woman never slept together or this curse of soul mates will again take the life another woman caught in the web of the western lands.
"Excuse me Lady Kagome I have something I must go tend too. I will return to bring you dinner do try and take it easy my dear." Ashia said tenderly as she kissed the young girl's forehead. As soon as she was out of the eye sight of Kagome her eyes turned from caring and tender to filled with rage at the actions of a certain demon lord. She stormed off towards the study knowing she could find the pup there.
Kagome watched the woman with a confused glimmer in her eyes, "She's never acted this way before." She sighed as she sank down onto her futon her eyes turned to the large window beside her bed over looking the western lord's lands. "Maybe it is best if I leave with Shippo that way he won't have to see my face around his castle or lands ever again." She hugged her knees to her chest in a desperate attempt to comfort herself. "Opening my heart is not worth the pain I receive in return." She whispered to herself as tears began to run down her cheeks.
Kyra looked around the bedroom she was to now share with the western lord. The walls of the rooms were left white and bare, the large futon rested adjacent to the corner wall it was covered in silk black sheets and large pillows. In front of the large bay windows sat a low lying desk with silk cushions around it. The desk was covered in scrolls that did not interest the slender woman; though laying on the corner of the desk was a cherry wood box. The demoness picked up the box and examined it with a critical eye she tried to open it only to find it locked and with a powerful protection spell around it. She growled in frustration as she slammed the box back down onto the table. "What is he hiding in that damned box?" Her eyes lit up as she looked down at the box, "My father did mention the sacred jewel holder was residing here. Could this box hold the jewel?" She smirked as she stared at the box. "Soon the jewel will belong to me as soon as I can get into that stubborn dog's mind and brain wash him. That shouldn't be too hard." She said with a laugh. Her attention was pulled away from the box as she heard laughing coming from outside.
She walked over the bay windows that looked out into the gardens she spotted Rin and Shippo playing with Kai. Her eyes narrowed, "Of course he could get rid of a few things. That will all come in due time though." A devilish smirk played across her lips as she made plans to rid the castle of certain 'pests'.
