A/N: Next chapter! Hope you like it. R&R
Evangeline paced. "It's almost six! Where is she?" Amil was at home getting ready for school and Layla never came home. Evangeline rushed down the stairs to the kitchen. "Mom!"
Willow was sitting at the table with her head in her hands. "Is she home yet?" With a shake of her head, Evangeline confirmed her Mother's worst fear. "First Buffy dies, then you kinds are born and I'm told to get you prepared by Giles, and now your sister is gone."
The phone rang and Evangeline picked it up, "Mom's in tears, whatcha need?" She knew who would be calling: Amil or his father, Xander.
It was Xander, "Your sister not home yet?"
"No."
Xander sighed, "Let me talk to your mother please."
Evangeline handed her mom the phone, "Its Xander." She took the phone and kissed her daughter good-bye. "Bye."
Down the street and around the corner, Evangeline bumped into Amil. Amil caught her as she fell. "Layla…" Amil hugged her. "She isn't home, not yet."
Amil rubbed her arms and took her bag. "She'll come home. If not, we'll go look for her after school." Evangeline nodded and brushed dirt off her skirt. "Unless there's something else you have to do."
"Yeah, tryouts." He looked at her funny, "Cheerleading. Layla made me tryout for cheerleading and she was supposed to become the library aid for a while. Mom's punishment was to make me do something I dislike and send her somewhere else."
Amil flinched, "Separating the inseparable?" Evangeline nodded. He shook his head and led his friend to the school.
"Angie!" A girl squealed. The duo groaned. A blonde bobbed into view, "Did you do your homework? Can I please copy it?" Evangeline handed it over, "Oh you are the best!"
Amil gave her a small smile, "Let's head to the library."
"Oh, we have a new librarian." The girl said.
Amil and Evangeline froze. "What?" The girl nodded and handed back the homework. Evangeline put her work back in her bag and the duo hurried to the library.
"No way!" They heard from within, "It can't be true! He isn't his childe!" Evangeline opened the door to see her sister arguing with Giles and a younger man.
Giles rubbed his eyes, "Miss Rosenberg, please." He tried to calm her. The other man was smirking. "This young man must be his childe. That's what he told you he was."
"Layla!" Amil exclaimed. Evangeline rushed in and tackled her sister. Layla hugged her back. "Where were you all night?"
Layla groaned, "I was conversing with someone who is telling me that he is the great-grand childe of Angelus." Amil stepped back. Evangeline frowned. "Yeah, that's what I said but Mr. Giles and Mr. Dimitri disagree. They say he was telling the truth."
Giles frowned, "Children, this is Dimitri, he is the new Watcher. Your Watcher."
Dimitri blinked in confusion, "Three Slayers?" They all nodded. "Okay then." He hung his light brown duster on a chair.
Amil took point, "Where did you come from, Dimitri?"
"Russia."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty-three."
Layla looked up from her sister, "You speak English very fluently." He nodded, "Did you know you would be our Watcher?"
"I knew that I would be Watcher after Rupert but that's about it." Dimitri responded. "The fact that I have to train three Slayers is something unexpected."
Evangeline straightened, "What do you know about this vampire Layla was with all night?" She cast her sister an evil glance.
"His name is Lore, he's lived less than a lifetime so he is very young." Dimitri said, "He was born in Scotland and lived in Canada most his human life. He is Spike's childe and he holds that reputation pretty well."
Giles looked up, "How?"
Dimitri smiled like a little kid in a candy store, "Well, Spike killed two of the three Slayers he came across, yes?" Giles and the kids nodded. "Lore killed Buffy."
Layla smacked her forehead against a wall, "Spike must not be too happy with Lore." Amil and Evangeline nodded their agreement. "Nor would Angel… Oh my, he's in danger."
Evangeline nodded and walked away. Amil followed her out of the library. Giles watched them go and then turned to Layla. "You were out ALL night with a vampire?"
Layla waved him away, "I fell into a grave and he was taunting me all night over it." The men looked confused, "I couldn't reach the edge and the ground was too soft to get a grip on." Giles began to laugh. "It isn't funny!"
Dimitri patted her shoulder, "No, it's hilarious." He smiled, "You need to get to class. Miss Rosenberg." Layla huffed at him, stood up, and stalked away.
After a moment of silence, "I'll check up on Angel and Spike." Giles said.
"I'll go look up what's written about Lore." Dimitri replied.
Amil sat in the shaded corner of the cafeteria the three Slayers always sat in. Evangeline plopped down next to him and leaned against him. A moment later, Layla sat down across from the couple. Amil and Evangeline stared at her.
"Do you want proof that I'm still me?" Layla asked them. Neither one said anything so Layla stood back up and turned away. "Fine, have fun without me." She stalked away.
Amil frowned slightly, "She isn't going to stay on campus, is she?"
Evangeline crossed her arms, "I don't care if she does or not." After a minute she stood up and looked at Amil, "I know where she's going and I don't like it." Amil raised an eyebrow, "She's going to find Spike and Angel."
Amil jumped up and followed his friend out of the cafeteria.
"Hello?" Layla called down the hall. She looked at the door on the far end and bit her lip. "Angel?" The doorknob turned slowly and Layla gripped her backpack strap tighter.
A tall, dark-haired man opened the door and looked at her. "Who are you?" He held the door open and beckoned to her.
Layla ducked into the room and turned back to Angel. "I'm Layla Rosenberg." Angel smiled. "I'm here about Spike's childe."
Angel grabbed her arm, "Spike's childe?" He growled, "You mean Lore?" Layla nodded. Angel growled and tightened his grip.
Layla hit her knees and cried out. "Please, Angel! Let go!" When he did she rubbed her arm. "I'm sorry about Buffy and what Lore did but you can't hurt him."
Angel stopped pacing, "Who are you really?" He stood over her menacingly.
Layla stood up and stared him in the eyes. "I am your worst nightmare if you hurt Lore." She gripped her cross necklace. "You hear me?"
Angel smirked, "You aren't a Slayer." He mocked. "You can't hurt me."
Layla smirked and flipped her wrist around. "That's where you're wrong." She placed the cross on his bare arm and held him as still as possible. Angel tried to yank his arm away. "I am you worst nightmare, Angel."
Angel eyed her and smirked, "You ARE the Slayer."
Layla laughed darkly, "Not THE Slayer, but A Slayer." Angel looked at her with a strange expression. "So let's talk."
A/N: Finally finished it! Sorry about the long wait!
