Nova and Adrian were almost done fixing dinner when the doorbell rang. Adrian ushered his dads and Max into the kitchen. Max offered to set the table while Nova and Adrian finished fixing dinner. Hugh and Simon stood off to the side chatting with them.
"Dinner's ready!" Nova called, setting plates of food down on the table. Everyone took their seats at the table and began fixing their plates.
Adrian reached for Nova's hand, whispering: "Do you want to tell them now?" Nova nodded. "Dad? Pops? Nova and I have something to tell you."
She gripped Adrian's hand tighter."I'm pregnant." she blurted out. Simon dropped his fork and Hugh's jaw dropped. Max paused mid-bite.
Max was the first to recover from his shock and smiled at the parents-to-be. "Congratulations!"
"You two are going to be great parents," Simon said. "And I can't wait to spoil the baby!"
"I'm so happy for you two!" Hugh said, turning his gaze to the couple.
They spent the rest of their meal discussing Nova and Adrian's future plans and how they would tell Ruby, Oscar, and Danna. Adrian's dads and Max had to leave shortly after dinner.
As they got ready for bed, Nova experienced a bout of sickness. It hadn't been the first time she'd thrown up in the past few days, but now she knew it was because she was pregnant and not because of some virus. After brushing her teeth, she changed into her pajamas which consisted of an old t-shirt of Adrian's and sweatpants.
"Are you okay?" Adrian asked as she climbed into bed beside him. He was wearing his usual pajama pants and no shirt—the tattoos from his days as the Sentinel still visible.
Nova nodded, snuggling up against him. Adrian draped his arm over her waist, and she laid her head on his chest.
"Nova?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think I'll be a good dad?"
Nova pulled back slightly so she could see his face. "Yes. I think you're going to be a great dad." She leaned forward, kissing him on the cheek. "Do you think I'll be a good mom?"
"I think you'll be an amazing mom." Adrian leaned forward, kissing her softly on the lips. "I love you, Nova."
"I love you, too, Adrian."
I feel like this chapter was kind of forced, and it's definitely not my best work. And I didn't do much editing. Also, I have no idea what's going to happen in the next chapter. Hope you enjoyed!
