From our correspondent Averil Allana.
A C-Sec investigation into an anonymous fraud claim has discovered that a large amount of funds have gone missing from private accounts based in the Salarian Embassy. An alarming amount of bugs and spy programs were embedded in the the embassy's computers and financial facilities. While some are alleging that it is an internal affair from a division of STG to try and avoid taxes, others – including head of the investigation Sergeant Marnis Averlak; a turian – believe the perpetrators of the fraud (approximately 12,000 credits from 7 separate accounts), and the nature of the missing funds, is more nefarious and complex than a simple tax dodge.
Averlak told one of our reporters "STG are known for spying upon their allies and themselves, I won't deny it – the salarians are shifty with their knowledge and secrets. It's just how they are – and we can normally put up with at least some illicit spying as it is not a huge deal. Merely observation. This reeks of another convoluted ploy by intelligence services wanting too close an eye on their compatriots – but the methods are more of brute force than salarian sophistication. We don't have much evidence, but I think this may even be a theft, not some monetary diversion. And I trust my instincts."
STG officials have refused to comment explicitly on the matter, only relaying a short statement saying they are currently performing "security updates."
In other news, hanar comedian and political commentator Zelenner, has announced a 15 date tour of Citadel Space titled 'The Management of Mindfish' starting on the 20th July in Milgrom, Bekenstein.
