Chapter 2; Break Down

The next morning, Susie woke up to her old alarm clock whining like an insolent child. She just huffed tiredly as she shut it off. Deciding to not get changed, Susie just slowly opened her door, expecting to hear her Parents screaming.

But there was nothing.

"That's weird" Susie muttered to herself as she went down to the kitchen, which for once wasn't a disaster. She grabbed a glass from the cupboard to get some water, but then she looked out the window.

"YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!" Officer Undyne was screaming at someone in a car that Susie was all too familiar with. Susie watched in horror as her Adoptive Father was dragged out fop the old red pickup, covered in dust.

Monster Dust.

He was also covered in presumably booze stains and a nasty aroma was coming from the car and slowly filtering into the open window. It only took Susie a moment to recognize that it was an assortment of drugs, when there was a loud knock on the door.

"What do you want...?" Susie asked, a small tear falling from her eye. As much as she hated them, her adoptive mother had slightly shown her care every now and then.

"Ma'am, we have to seize this property" the officer said to Susie, who got even more sad. "We believe that... you're mother may not be the only one your father murder - hey, wait!" Susie didn't care anymore. She took off running to school, hoping that Kris could help her.

Everyone was turning in their class projects in Mrs. Alphys's class when the door swung open so hard that it went flying off the hinges, hitting the ground with a thud.

"KRIS!" Susie collapsed in front of her 'friend' and begun crying, the sheer amount of sadness breaking through her iron will. No one dared to interfere. Kris simply wrapped his hand around Susie's shoulder and walked with her out into the hallway, worried for Susie.

"W... what's wrong?" he asked, finally using his voice. Susie was still too sad to answer, tears still cascading down her eyes like a waterfall. "It... it's okay. We're friends... remember?" this caused Susie to stop, albeit, only if for a moment.

"I... this is it for me Kris..." she cried once more, scooting her head into her knees. This was completely out of character for someone like her, but Kris knew that somehow, he had to help. "M... my a...adoptive father... he killed my adoptive mother..."

Silence.

This was how Kris reacted. Very rarely did he talk, but once more he had been stunned back into silence. He tried to think of something, anything, but before he could, Susie spoke up once more, her voice creaky from crying.

"They... they're seizing the house... I'll have nowhere to go..." Susie locked eyes with Kris. "R... remember how I said yesterday... that our choices don't matter... I think I'm wrong..." Susie just laughed bitterly as the two sat there in silence, the monster girl's tears slowly drying.

"We... we'll figure something out..." Kris looked over to her, offering a small smile. "N... no matter what. B... but do you wanna go back to the Dark World?" Susie simply nodded a response and the two sat off for the supply closet.
