Well this part 2 has been a long time coming. I am very nearly done with the continuation as well, expect 3ish more parts in the VERY near future.

Thanks to Missiamphetamine and acro_acro for letting me steal bedtime traditions from your kiddos and being my sounding boards! Love ya both!

"Rose, it's time for bed! Go get on your nightie and brush your teeth while I lay your brother down. Don't forget to pick a book!" Hermione called to her daughter before gathering up her son and carrying him to his room.

"Yes Mummy!" Rose's voice rang out.

"Okay, Mr. Hugo, let's get you in for beddy-bye!" The small toddler smiled at his mother sleepily, beginning to nod off as she laid him in his new big-boy bed. After reading him a short story, she kissed him goodnight, set the bedrail, and exited the room.

Reaching her own bedroom, Hermione was surprised to see Rose laying on her bed, kicking her feet while lying looking at a stack of books. "Mummy, I brought books!"

"I can see that Rosie, but I thought I told you to just pick one! And what are you doing in here, we need to read in your room. Then you can just go to bed."

"But Mummy, I'm little! If I fall asleeps, you can just carry me!" She patted the spot on the bed next to her. "Come on, read to me!"

"And what are we reading today? Oh, this is a good one!" She tucked her daughter under her arm and began to read the fairy tale to Rose. Sure enough, the 4 year old began to drift off to sleep. Hermione finished the story, and did exactly as Rose suggested, carrying her off to her own bed. However, when Hermione laid her down, she stirred.

"Mummy, so when do we go to Scorpy's recital? I wanna see it!"

Hermione laughed. "It's not til Saturday sweetie. We have all of tomorrow still and then we go on Saturday afternoon. Do you think you can wait patiently for me?"

"Ummm, I think so. But, I really REALLY wanna see Scorpy! I miss him. He's my bestest friend!"

"But I thought Albus was your best friend?"

"Alby is my cousin, Scorpy is my best friend!" The 4-year-old's logic caused Hermione to chuckle.

"Okay, sweetie. Just two more days. Time to sleep though now, I love you!"

"It's only two more days, just two more days," Draco chanted as his fingers rubbed at his temples. He wished desperately that he could put a Muffliato on the door, but he had promised Scorpius that he'd listen to him practice for his recital. Five year olds only have pieces of so much difficulty, and after the first dozen playings of "Ode to Joy" Draco was going a bit mad.

The volume of the piano music increased as the door opened. Draco looked up to see his mother enter his office.

"I'm about to tell Scorpius to get ready for bed, but he wants you to read to him tonight. Are you at a good stopping point so you can come up?"

"Yes, Mother. If you will pry him away from the piano, I will meet you both upstairs in about 10 minutes?"

"That will work." She gave her son a kiss on the head, and exited the room to collect her grandson.

A sigh of relief escaped Draco's lips as the music stopped. He loved his son, and loved that he'd taken so easily to the piano, but could not wait until Scorpius was able to learn more musical variety.

He journeyed upstairs to the bedrooms, rolling out the kink in his neck as he ascended the stairs. Reaching Scorpius's room, he found his mother and his son on the small bed, Scorpius with a book and his stuffy in his hand. Narcissa was adjusting the covers around him. After kissing him goodnight, she left her boys alone in the room.

"Come sit next to me Daddy!" Scorpius seemed very excited by the idea. Draco moved towards the chair at the side of the bed, when Scorpius stopped him, "No Daddy, on the bed! Rosie said when her mummy reads to her she sits on the bed. You try it!"

"Okay, Scorp whatever you say. So, are you all ready for your recital on Saturday?"

He nodded his head. "I think I need just a bit more practice, then I'll be all set."

Draco held back a groan at the prospect of listening to more of the same song for the next day and a half. He smiled down at his son, "You're going to be amazing, no matter what."

"I know Daddy, I just want to be perfect since Ms. Mione and Rosie are coming to listen. I gotsta make a good impression."

Now Draco chuckled at his son. "I know they'll love it anyway. So what are we reading?" Scorpius presented the book to his father. "Fox in Socks. Why this one?"

"Rosie said it's her favorite cuz it was her mummy's favorite when she was little. She wanted to see if it'd be my favorite too! And then I told her my favorite book so far and she's going to read it. Then we're gonna see which one we like more!"

"Sounds like a good plan. Are we reading this one together, or just me tonight?" Scorpius was getting better at reading, but sometimes liked for his Daddy to read to him.

"You please, I just wanna listen. Oh, and Rosie said, that you have to read it as fast as you can!"

"Okay, that means you read tomorrow. Now let's see… what's this?" Adhered to the inside cover was one of those Muggle sticky papers, reading, "Good Luck! -H" with a smiley face after it. Draco was confused by the luck wish, but turned the page and began.

Following the directions as given, Draco attempted to speed through the book, but had to stop on nearly every page, causing Scorpius to laugh incessantly. "Do you think it's funny, making fun of your old dad?"

"Yes" Scorpius rolled with laughter. "You're silly!"

After enduring a bookful of Dr. Seuss rhymes and tongue twisters, Draco closed up the book and rose from the bed, making a mental note to cushion the headboard the next time Scorpius insisted on this sitting arrangement.

"So, what are you going to dream about Scorp? Flying dragons and rescuing princesses?"

"No Daddy! I want to dream about being a detective and figuring out who did it!"

"Well that sounds like a very fun dream indeed. What do you think I should dream about?" Draco loved hearing the creative ideas that come out of a child's brain.

"I think…" Scorpius tapped his finger on his nose in thought. "I think you should dream about what you're going to do with Ms. Mione on Saturday!"

Draco acted scandalized, though there was definitely genuine surprise in his voice. "We're going to watch your recital with Rose, you silly. What else would we do?"

"You kiss her!"

"Kiss her?!"

Scorpius nodded in response. "Uh huh! Make it a date!"

"Oh, okay. Now it's bedtime. Time to get comfortable." Draco readjusted the covers as Scorpius laid back.

"Night Daddy! Sleep sweet!"

"Sleep sweet Scorpius. I love you." He tickled his fingers across Scorpius's belly and waved goodnight, turning off the light as he exited the room.
