My chest seemed to tighten as I sat there, looking up at him with my bare legs tucked underneath me. The silence seemed to stretch out long between us and I dare not move. Even when the back of my neck started to prickle, sweat and tension over coming me in equal parts, I stayed perfectly still, my injured wrist close to my chest. In the daze of fear and pain I found myself in, I startled at the sound of his voice.

"Say you're sorry," he said, the same curl of his lips returning to his face.

"Excuse me?" I blurted out before remembering I was actually in way over my head.

"I said say sorry; you ran away," he repeated, looking at me as if I was hard of understanding.

"You-you broke my arm," I stammered out, unsure with what was happening. One moment he was staring at me, wishing as if I was dead, the next it was like nothing had happened.

"Well then say sorry and I won't break the other one."

Now he was back to the stern look, staring down at me as I sat on the floor. My anger started to build. What was his problem? Not only two seconds ago did he barge into my life, break my wrist and now he's playing with me.

"N-no," I said, building confidence as I grew more angry, "I, I won't. You can't just come in here...I'm not scared of you. Just because you're some scary vampire you can't tell me what to do."

That might have been the wrong thing to say. He was definitely scowling now and I flinched slightly when his fangs darted out. It was one thing to think it but at the sight of his teeth my heart stopped before almost bursting out of my chest, a pain blooming under my rib cage. He opened his mouth, his fangs gleaming in the low light, but before he could say a word there was a knock at the door.

My heart stopped for the second time in the same amount of minutes. In fact we both seemed to freeze, are eyes locked as we waited.

Another knock.

"Harriet. Harry, it's me. I locked myself out again."

Shit. No, no! Why for the love of Christ, why did he have to come back now?

Oliver knocked on the door again. It seemed to break the tension in the room and both me and the vampire got to our feet, me clumsily from the floor, keeping my arm close by. My mind seemed to be blank and whirling at the same time. Without thought I found my feet racing the few steps to him. I grabbed the front of his blazer, pulling him round to face me after he slightly turned toward the door.

"I'm sorry," I rushed out, trying to put as mush sincerity as I could without raising my voice too loud. I couldn't look at him but instead kept my eyes locked on to the chest of his shirt.

"I'm sorry I ran, please. I'm sorry."

I tried to keep my voice as low as I could, I couldn't risk Oliver hearing me but I had to do something. It was a risk, revealing how vulnerable I was but I couldn't have Oliver step into this room, I knew it would all be over then. I waited with baited breath to see what he would do, my ears straining in the silence.

It came as a shock when I felt his hand gently brush against my face, his fingers fixing some lose hair behind my ear. With the same hand he coaxed me to look him in the eye with my chin. There was something gentler there than a second ago, a soft curiosity as we shared breath, his other arm had snaked around my waist and I still clung to his lapels as he pressed me closer to his side. With one more disheartened knock and a huff under his breath I heard Oliver walk back down the corridor, muttering under his breath. In the long silence that followed I couldn't look away from his eyes. I finally came to my senses and dropped my eyes in embarrassment. It felt as if I had been staring for hours. That's when my eyes caught the light gleaming off his fangs and the whole situation dawned at me. A cold rush flooded me and I felt bile pool in my mouth as I thought I was going to be sick. A vampire had been sent to kill me and my brother would be back any minute, most likely with a spare key from reception. I tried to slow my breath down as I took a step back, the arm around me fell to his side and my fingers ached as I let go of his jacket.

"He'll be back soon," I told him, my eyes on the ground as I took a few more steps back.

From the corner of the my eye I saw him stay still, carefully watching me. "Who?"he asked.

Finding the nerve to face this, I looked back up to him, knowing I had to find away to save him in the very least.

"My brother, we're sharing the room. He makes friends with the staff wherever we go, they'll give him a spare key," I tell him, knowing that that was just the start. "What can I do to stop you two from meeting?"

He seemed amused at my questions, a smirked stretched across his face and I wondered when he got rid of the fangs.

"I don't know, doesn't sound as if we have much time before he gets back"

"Please"

"Begging's a good place to start", god could he look more conceited, "but what if I want more?"

"Just tell me what it'll take. I'll do whatever you want" I plead, hoping to god this would work.

The look on his face said that this is what he was waiting for. "I think I want your Harriett. All of you. And I mean everything."

Surprisingly, a sense of steady calm washed over me. People had been asking this from me my whole life, I knew had how to handle this. I could save my brother one last time.

"Okay. I give myself to you, everything. I'll be your good little thing in a corner and when you're done with me you can kill me off, but you don't go after my brother. Not now, not ever." I clarified, still utterly at ease even after bargaining my life and freedom away.

He seemed even as shocked as I was as I calmly negotiated with him. He before to take a few slow steps closer to me, his eyes narrowing as he took me in.

"You understand what that would mean? You would be mine completely, I could do what I wanted to you. Hurt you, break you? All for one other person?"

Even with the cold sliding down by back I kept my cool. I had to be strong for now, I could cry and scream later, but right now time was running out.

"You don't think I can? Well I can. I walk out with you now I'm all yours but nothing happens to my brother. You don't hurt him, the vampire that sent you doesn't or any of your other little friends," I confirmed, "He goes on and lives a nice, normal, long life."

"You're a stickler for details I see" he counters.

"I've been ripped off my whole life, I know to read the small print" I concluded.

Amused and self satisfied he looked me up one more time, waiting on his decision as if he doesn't always know what he wants. There was a buzzing in my ear and the heat of the room suddenly crashed upon me and I felt the back of my top stick to me with sweat. I flinched as he struck his hand out in front of, a mockery as if this was some normal business deal.

"Deal." he said.

"Deal."

I reached out and took his hand but instead of shaking it he pulled me the last few steps further into him. My wrist twinged as it crashed into his front but I soon forgot about it. With one cool hand around my own, the other lifted my face to his. My eyes slid shut as our lips brushed, his lips soft and gentle as they looked. The world dropped away in the few seconds of the kiss, it was short and surprisingly sweet. And this time when I opened my eyes I didn't flinch at the sight of his fangs. Instead, quite instinctively, I tilted my head to the side and looked behind his shoulder, noting the standard hotel art on the wall. I felt the brush of his check on my jaw as he leaned in, a warm breath on my throat before the feel of his bite. There was a smart of pain and I let out a heavy breath as I roused from the slight trance I was in. My lids were soon drooping again however and without even knowing, I slipped in to unconsciousness.
