The alarm clock blared in her ears. Heart reached over and turned it off. She hopped out of bed and stretched. That was some dream I had. She smiled to herself.
She had dreamt that she went to the spring dance with Haruo Tomei. They danced and danced and all the girls in school were jealous of her. Her heart fluttered. If only it were real.
Haruo was a senior and was a freshman. She hoped they'd be able to spend some time with him before he graduated.
She went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and showered. She put on her school uniform on and headed to the kitchen.
"Good morning mom, good morning dad!" Heart said.
Her parents smiled at her. "Good morning dear." Her mom sat a plate of food down on the table. "Make sure you eat all of it, ok sweetie?" Her mom said to her giving her a kiss on the fore head. "Honey I'm going to head on down stairs and set up before we open." Heart's mother said to her husband as she kissed him on the cheek and walked out of the kitchen.
"I'll be right down in a sec, hun." Heart's father called to his wife.
Heart's parents decided to open up and run their own café. And the best part is they get to live right above it. Heart loved to help out at the café after school.
Heart had finished her breakfast.
"See you after school daddy." Heart said as she hugged her father.
He smiled. "Have a great day sweetie."
Heart put her shoes in her backpack and put on her roller skates. She left the apartment and went on her way to school.
Skating to school always cleared Heart's mind and out her at ease. As she neared her school she could hear the school bell ringing. Another day at Misono Academy, Heart thought to herself.
She made her way through the wave of students smiling and greeting nearly everyone. She made her way down the hall and to her locker. She removed her skates and put them in her locker and pulled out her regular shoes. She bent down to put them on.
"Heart!" A voice called out to her.
Heart looked up and saw her best friend Tia Aranae. "Hey Tia, what's up?" Heart said.
"Did you hear? Volleyball tryouts this week after school!" Tia gushed. "You are trying out right?" Tia asked as she grabbed some books from her locker.
"I don't know T, I was leaning toward cheerleading this year." Heart said.
They began to walk down the hall. "I'm sure you can do both. Besides I so thought we would do volleyball together this year."
Heart did remember she wanted to do volleyball as well. "If I do cheerleading and volleyball I won't have time to help my parents at the café."
Tia's eyes dropped. "Oh yeah I forgot."
They walked in silence for a bit. "I'll tell you what, I'll run it past my folks and see what they think I should do." Heart said breaking the tension.
"Ok cool." Tia said managing a smile. A second bell rang just as they reached Ms. Kahza's class.
"Cutting it close Ms. Aino and Ms. Aranae." Ms. Kahza said sternly. "Please take you seats."
They both dropped their heads an sat at their desks.
"Now open your math books and turn to page 86." Ms. Kahza said as she walked to the front of the class.
After spending what felt like an eternity in math and English class it was finally lunch time. Heart and Tia made their way to their usual table. They sat down and Heart looked at the empty seat directly beside her
Tia noticed the look on Heart's face. "It's still weird not having Saki around. Have you heard from her?" Tia asked.
Heart shook her head. Saki Tsuzura had been friends with Heart since as long as Heart could remember. They were inseparable, practically sisters. But less than a year ago, Saki's father had received a job promotion that resulted in them moving to London.
And that was the last she had heard from Saki. It took Hear a long time to deal with Sake leaving. And to this day she wasn't over it. Thank goodness I still have Tia by my side.
