Another surprise. This fic was inspired by the episode 'Zero.' Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own 'Law and Order' and its characters.

Note: This was inspired by the episode 'Zero,' with that elderly judge who suffered onset dementia.

With Age Comes Wisdom

By LTP-girl

The elderly man trudged is way down the steps of the courthouse, briefcase and wooden cane in one hand, and grasping tightly onto the railing with the other.

A young woman approached him from behind.

"Do you need some help, sir?" the spritely redhead enquired, taking his arm in hers.

He looked up at her, his eyes reflecting defeat. He nodded, giving in to her assistance.

She smiled, and continued to guide him down the concrete steps, until they had reached the hotdog vendor located at the bottom of the steps.

"Thank you, um..." he began, not sure whether the young woman had told him her name.

"Mandy," she informed him.

"I'm Michael Cutter," he introduced himself.

"Oh yes, you're the new District Attorney, aren't you?"

"That's right."

"I'll see you round," she said, starting to make her way down the street.

"Yes, see you," he replied, hobbling his way towards the hotdog vendor.

All of a suddenly, his dentures slipped out of his mouth, and landed on the pavement.

Goddamn it! That's the second time that's happened today.

He scrambled to pick them up, looked around to make sure nobody was looking, and quickly slid them back inside his mouth.

He reflected back on that morning, when he sneezed on the jury. His dentures went flying, and landed in someone's pocket, resulting in a very disgruntled juror, and very embarrassed prosecutor.

Oh, well at least I've still got my mind, he thought to himself optimistically. Now where did I park my car?
