Hiya, thanks to reviews so far though they are few but this has allowed me to reply to all. PLEASE REVIEW! I love them so much, questions about the summary, storyline, characters etc, also requests, praises and constructive criticisms are all loved and very appreciated.
Did anyone else realize that Yankee Doodle has the same tune as the Barney song? I did about 8 years ago on a family trip to America, we went to see a parade and they were playing Yankee Doodle with the band, I had never heard of Yankee Doodle who went to town riding on a donkey, no, pony? yeah pony, Mary went on the donkey(well some sort of four legged animal that doesn't die when sat on) so I shouted out (being young) "its the Barney song", resulting in lots of bad looks from some rather patriotic Americans.

Chapter 2: ruinae
"Barney is a dinosaur in our imagination…" He sang for the god knows what time as they walked to the ruins.
"Jack will you shut up about Barney the annoying Dinosaur!" Daniel had finally lost it with him. He knew frustrating him like this was mean but what else was there to do when you're bored another than annoy everyone else?
"Oh come on Daniel, show me some love"
"Love? Jack are you drunk?"
"No, I was just thinking" he paused, "I love you, you love me.." He trailed off remembering singing this with Charlie. Even though it had been a few years ago, he still remembered now again, and he still blamed himself for what happened. Truth is he hadn't really spoken about it to anyone, other than Daniel a little when they got back from their fist mission as SG1 so the problem was still there, he just learnt to bury it and build up the walls so he could forget. It grew easier with time on SG-1 and Carter helped heal the wounds left by Sara, even though it was completely different, but she just seemed to help somehow.
He was pulled away from these thoughts when he heard Carter pick up to his astonishment where he had trailed off, but with slightly different lyrics to what he remembered;
"Lets get together and kill Barney, with a P-90 and some C4, no more purple dinosaur"
He and Daniel froze in complete shock. Did she just...sing? Their mouths were open wide in disbelief as she continued walking. "We should hurry up if we want to get there before sundown" she said without turning back. He smiled, she was obviously in one of her rare yet wonderfully playful moods; maybe this trip could be fun after all?

"Wow! Look at these!" Daniel was actually jumping up and down when they reached the ruins.
"Here we go again"
"Definitely Ancient"
"Ancient? If the Ancients built this place then why isn't there a Stargate if you thought they were the original gate builders?"
"I don't know. But I'm sure that if I can translate everything, it will reveal the purpose of this place, and that might tell us why"
"Daniel look at this place, it would take weeks"
"Actually it would take months...if I can copy down the writings and take them back to Earth, we wouldn't need to be here that long, but I would at least like to translate the main pillars before leaving."
"Alright. Carter and I will set up camp, Daniel, translate away"

He and Carter were lying on the ground star gazing the foreign stars above them when he heard Daniel approaching. "Fascinating" Carter said from next to him, mesmerized.
"What is?"
She pointed upwards towards the biggest and brightest star. "This star looks like a red giant thats swelling and contracting. I mean its hard without a telescope to tell but its close enough to tell I think"
"Tell what?"Astronomy was not one of Daniels strong points.
"Its going to explode!" He answered to their surprise. "Telescope on roof remember!" he said in response to their surprised looks. Gosh, he did know some things! However, it was fun seeing the shock on people's faces when it came out with these sort of things.
She continued, "its glowing very brightly again due to fusion. It's forming heavier elements in nuclear reactions, soon exploding in a supernova". She shifted, Sir, do you recon it would be possible for us to check out the planets moon and watch from there considering it's closer to the star? I mean this could be a first hand account of planetary nebula forming new galaxies!"
"Correct me if I'm wrong but when stars explode don't they form black holes, in which case we should be getting the hell out of here."
"Not on this occasion Sir, from my calculations the star is no way big enough to create a dense enough core that will form a black hole. Only a neutron will be formed, and besides it is definitely not near enough to be dangerous even if it does become one, the event horizon couldn't be big enough to suck us in or danger us."
"We'll see, first I want us to try and stick together" he turned to Daniel "meanwhile what did you find out?"
"Well like I said before this place is definitely Ancient. The writing on the central pillar talks about the 5 tests of man, and to teach and test those who failed among them to be better in their second chance of life."
"Meaning?"
"I'm not sure Jack, you ordered me to come back before I could translate anymore"
"Alright. Everyone get a good night sleep for now and I'll see you in the morning." He said getting up.
"Night, sir" Carter said without moving.
"Carter don't stay up looking at the stars all night, they'll be there in the morning, well, tomorrow night."
"Yes, sir" she got up and headed to her tent,
"Night Daniel"
"Night Sam"
"Goodnight everyone...hey Daniel want me to read you a bedtime story?"
"Only if its not about Barney the Dinosaur"
"Damn it!" He said getting into his tent. He heard Carter laughing gently in her tent, he loved being the one to make her laugh. He laid down and drifted off to sleep, dreaming about a giggling blonde with bright blue eyes as she blew off Barney's head from the body of a host dressed as a Goa'uld. She was the best 2IC anyone could ask for.
Have to be honest, Carters version of barney song is not mine, its a version i learnt at school or similar. There are many versions to Barney songs, including the imagination one and I'll tell you it hopefully to make you laugh, I would have put it in the story but it didnt quite fit , it goes a little bit like this;
Barney is a dinosaur who like to play with children, He takes them to his great big house, And f***s till he kills them :)
