Hello everyone. Another chapter is coming up. Now I'm going to introduce another OC based of a SU character.
You might asking why im not doing "Cows" instead. It's because i don't have any ideas for that episode. The events are still happening in this AU.
But i won't remake it. The same is about Bertie's Chase. The next chapter that is a remake will be "Saved from Scrap"
Anyway enjoy the Chapter guys!
Chapter 2 Faceless Engine
1950 (Marco's P.O.V.)
A week later me and Toby were finished with the work at the docks. The hole was filled and the new track was build." Didn't thought we would be done here so fast. I expected we need another week for it." I said to Toby.
"Yeah. But I guess when two reliable engines work together, work is done twice as fast." He replied.
"Well what's up next. The Fat controller said we should look at the sidings for scrap. Right?" I asked.
"Yep." Toby said and went to an empty siding. There stood very old trucks. He decided to pull them out carefully. It were five pieces of rolling stock: A broken Truck, a van with a hole in his right side, a oil tanker, cut in half, a coach who was almost burned down and a flatbed with something strange.
"What the heck is that." I yelled as I examined the flatbed. On it were a rusty, broken, black painted tank engine. It also had a face, what surprised us.
"It's a tank engine...is it still alive." Toby asked.
"Hey...can you hear us." I said to the Engine. Nothing happened. It didn't responded.
"That's weird. Why is an engine here on the sidings." The tram was very confused.
"I don't know. We'll better ask someone who knows it. Let's head to the Killdane Scrapyard and ask Neil. He's older than the both of us." I suggested. We've uncoupled the flatbed from the rest of the trucks and went to said place.
We arrived there after half an hour. We looked around the scrap yard and tried to find Neil. Luckily Toby found him, shunting some trucks full with scrap iron.
Neil was...a unique engine. He was only half as tall as Toby and looked basically like a green box on wheels, with S&M 2 painted on his sides." Hello there ol' chums. What brings you to me." Neil asked.
"We were cleaning up the Harbor, when we suddenly found this here." Toby explained and looked over to the scrap engine on the flatbed.
"Oh my. You two just found Marklin." Neil said surprised. He seemed to know who that engine was.
"Who's Marklin." I asked confused.
"That fella on behind you is Marklin. He was besides Thomas one of the first Shunters for the NWR. He worked from 1916 til 1920 at the docks in Knapford." The box engine explained.
" Why isn't he doing that anymore. And why does he look so strange but familiar." I continued asking.
"Well...first of all. He was ,unlike us three and the rest of engines I know, a faceless engine. That means he couldn't talk and he wasn't alive at all. He was put out of order because he fell into the sea. His driver once came drunk to work." Neil explained.
"Um Neil. Could it be that Marklin is a German engine." Toby asked.
"What does make you think that." I asked the tram.
"Well, even though he's rusty as hell, some part of him aren't. And that shade of black is the same as that of your livery Marco." He stated.
"Indeed Toby. He was a German engine. And before you ask why he has a face even though he isn't alive at all. We decided to paint one on his smokebox, so we could kinda talk to him." The green box explained." Well anyways, leave him here. I'll take care of him. We've been looking for him for 21 years."
I was uncoupled from Marklin and Toby shunted the flatbed into a siding, so that Neil could take care of him." Now that you talked about it we maybe need another engine to work at the Harbor. I mean me and Henry are busy with goods work, Gordon has to pull the express, Edward and Thomas have a own branch line. And James is also busy with other stuff." I said.
"Indeed. Me, Percy and Amethyst are also busy with work on the Ffarquar branch." Toby added.
"Well. Tell the Fat Controller about it. I'll bet he'll get one for that job." Neil said and then we went back to Knapford.
We found him standing at the Platform. I decided to talk to Sir Topham about the issue at the docks." Very well. I was planning anyways to buy an engine to work there. In fact I ordered one a few days ago. By the end of this week." He explained. Me and Toby were slightly relieved.
"I wonder what an engine well get." I asked.
"If it isn't someone like Those darn B12's, then I don't really care." The Tram answered.
And just like the Fat controller said, it happened. Me, Percy and Amethyst were waiting at the docks to greet the new engine. It was lifted from a big ship onto the rails. I examined the engine. It was a Danish Class Cs tank engine, painted in white. Then I heard a annoyed groan and immediately I looked over to Amethyst. She didn't looked very pleased.
"Ah Sodor. Good to be here." The engine, who was female said. She looked around the docks and was surprised to see someone familiar to her." Oh Hello Amethyst. Never thought I'd see you again." She said smiling.
The saddle tank groaned again." Hey Pearl..." She answered.
"You know her." Percy asked his "big sister" confused.
"I guess I'll do." Amethyst growled." Before we met Perce, I worked at the Manchester Goods Yard and well...we worked a few months together."
"Oh. She seems like a pleasant engine." I said.
"Well...how do I say It. I'm more the cooler engine and she has a huge stick up her bunker. She's no fun at all." The purple saddle tank explained.
"It's not really like that. I do my jobs properly and you are just messy." Pearl corrected her.
"See! No fun at all." Amethyst huffed and left to continue her jobs at the Quarry.
"Well...anyway welcome to the NWR Pearl. I'm Marco. And that engine next to me is Percy." I said to change the subject.
"Nice to meet you two." The Class Cs said and smiled." What jobs are you doing by the way?"
"Uh well I'm a mostly goods engine."
"And I'm the station pilot of Knapford, more or less." Percy said.
"Why more or less?"
" I'm doing that and I'm also doing sometimes small goods work on Thomas' branch line." He explained.
"Oh. I guess then this dock is My new work place. Right?" Pearl asked.
"Uh Yeah. Sorry if it's still a bit messy at some points. We had...er...some arguments happening here a week ago." I explained.
"What sort of arguments?"
"Uh nothing important. We prefer not to talk about it."
"Oh I see."
"Well...enjoy your work Pearl. I better go and also do my jobs." Percy said and went back to the station.
"He's a bit naive. But that makes him kinda adorable." Pearl had to admit.
"Yeah. He's the cinnamon bun of the NWR." I chuckled." Anyway see you soon Pearl. I have a goods train to Vicarstown running in fifteen minutes." Then I also left. I kinda liked our new addition. But the conflict between her and Amethyst bothered me a little bit.
"So. How's that new engine Marco." Edward asked me that evening at Tidmouth sheds.
"Actually she's pretty nice. But her and Amethyst know each other and well. They aren't actually the best friends ya know." I said.
"Tell no more! This is going to be the cause of many arguments." Gordon growled and rolled with his eyes.
