Supernatural New Beginnings
Chapter 2
Dean watched Castiel as he spoke with Dominion.
It had been a week since Sam and Zara's wedding, a week since Castiel had effectively became human and a week since Dominion had kicked ass and hauled all of the Angels back to Heaven and banished all Demons back to Hell.
She had been popping in and out of the Salvage Yard over the last week, allowing her vessel to take control and spend some time getting to know them before leaving to continue the task of restoring the balance as commanded by God. She had finally reappeared this evening with the news that her work was done and that it was time for her to return to Heaven. Her last task was to release herself from her vessel and return to Heaven. She was leaving her vessel in Castiel's care and by extension the whole families care, since both Cas and Camille would be living with them.
Dean grinned to himself as he thought of his friend living a human life, the closest that he had ever come to being human had resulted in him being blown to pieces by Lucifer. It was certainly going to be interesting watching him learn what it truly meant to be human.
He had been concerned that his friend would regret his decision to cut himself off from Heaven and his angelic brothers and sisters by staying on Earth when Heaven's gates were closed permanently. He had spoken to him about his concerns but Castiel had explained that a human lifespan was fleeting in comparison with the Millennia that he had lived and that he would see his brothers and sisters again - he wanted to spend a human lifetime with the humans whom he called family.
They were still unsure how "human" Cas would become, his grace was bound and he was still in essence an angel, but as the week passed he had begun to show some more human traits. The working theory was that as the Heavenly realm was shut off from Earth that Cas's link would weaken and his grace would diminish, not entirely, but enough that he would appear human, eventually ageing and dying before returning to his angelic form and being allowed to return to Heaven. Of course, having a pure heart in the family who could actually see Cas's grace diminish didn't hurt.
"Hey."
Dean turned as Stacey joined him on the porch, his arm slipping comfortably around her waist as he drew her to his side. Inhaling the scent of summer berries as he pressed a soft kiss to her temple.
"All set?" he whispered.
"All set. We're going to run out of rooms if this family expands any more." Stacey said with a grin. She had spent the last few hours making up a room for Camille, Dominion's vessel.
Dean laughed. "Family's growing."
"The nursery is next. .." Stacey said softly with a sigh,"...not long now before the baby comes."
Nodding Dean stayed silent, his arm tightening briefly as he considered her words. The word, 'family' had taken on a whole new meaning for him. It was no longer just him and Sam. He was still astounded when he thought of the last year and the changes in his life. Sam married to Zara, with a baby on the way. Stacey, Bobby, Cas and now another addition. To top it off, no more Angel and Demon crap coming their way. Sure there were still monsters out there, plenty to keep even the biggest hunting family busy, but it felt like they were finally set for a run of normal. Well normal for them.
"Come on lets go say hi." Stacey said, placing her hand in his and pulling him away from the porch.
As they approached, the attention of the two Angels turned to them.
"Dean, Stacey." Castiel nodded to his friends.
"Dean Winchester, Stacey Singer it is good to see you." Dominion spoke softly, her violet eyes solemn as she regarded the two humans before her, two halves of one soul entirely in sync with each other, their aura's stretched and merged into one. A bond so strong that only the most terrible of tragedies could break it. It saddened her to know that these two warriors who fought and continued to fight to keep the world and her Fathers most treasured creation safe would once again be called to battle, the trials in their lives not fully extinguished by the banishing of Demons and Angels from Earth. There would always be another evil threatening to tip the balance, and warriors such as these were the first line off defence in the battle to prevent the balance of power tipping in favour of the the dark side. "You have my eternal gratitude for welcoming my vessel into your home and family."
"The more the merrier." Dean said, with a genuine smile. Of all the Angel's that he had met, excluding Cas, Dominion was the least dickish.
Stacey laughed. "Can't wait to have another girl in the house Dominion, with the baby being a boy us girls were gonna be seriously outnumbered."
"I am sincerely grateful that you have consented to Camille joining your family..." Dominion smiled softly, before adding "...it is time my friends."
The trio stepped back, moving a safe distance from the Archangel; Castiel had explained that Dominion would ease herself from Camille so as not to damage the fragile human body as she left, her ability to heal would leave with her. They watched as Dominion's violet eyes began to glow brightly, her grace seeping through as she unfurled herself from the body of her vessel. The air became charged and crackled with power, the static causing the hair on the human observer's arms to stand on end as the power rippled over them.
Dean held tightly on to Stacey, unable to watch any longer he tucked his face into her neck and closed his eyes as the brightness of Dominions grace seemed to overwhelm his senses. He knew that Stacey was safe, her gift allowed her to see the visage of even the most powerful beings.
"She is so beautiful Dean." Stacey whispered, transfixed by the scene unfolding before her.
The lights in the house and the yard flickering wildly as the supernatural being, free her vessel, hovered for a few seconds wings spread wide as she prepared to depart the Earth to return home.
"Goodbye, my friends." Dominion whispered into the minds of the two humans and the lone earth bound Angel and then she was gone.
Dean, Stacey and Castiel looked into the centre of the yard to where the young woman who had been Dominion's vessel stood alone, her expression sad as she mourned the loss of the Archangel who had been her friend for millennia.
Stacey jogged down the porch steps and walked quickly towards the young woman, engulfing the smaller woman in a warm hug.
"Welcome home Camille."
xxOOxx
"Come on seriously!" Dean shouted as he pulled his once white boxer shorts from the laundry, watching in disgust as a pair of red panties dropped into the basket. He paused for a moment as he remembered Stacey wearing those very same panties, grinning to himself as the memory of her not wearing those panties interrupted his internal rant. Whilst he could appreciate some red panties on the woman he was in love with he wasn't overly fond of the fact that his boxers were now pink.
The house had been chaotic since Sam and Zara got back from their honeymoon and the reality of seven adults living under the same roof had taken hold. Cas and Camille were attempting to learn the more mundane elements of human life and after some instruction, were taking on some of the household chores including laundry. Clearly, the concept of separating whites and colours had yet to sink in.
Grumbling, he grabbed his boxers and made his way upstairs into the kitchen.
"Sammy..." Dean growled as he joined his brother at the kitchen table a pleading look crossing his face "...tell me you've found something for me to gank which is close to home and I can handle alone."
"Unless you want to go hunting with Stacey, you're stuck here until the baby's born Dean. You know the rules no hunting alone," Sam said, "It's to close to Zara's due date for me to be on the other side of the Country hunting. I don't want her worrying about us whilst we're away and Bobby's out of commission for a couple of weeks until his leg heals."
He didn't miss the look on Dean's face at his suggestion that he hunt with Stacey, for Dean that was a no go topic. They had sat down as a group and decided that Stacey would hunt with Bobby and Cas, and Sam with Dean.
After the disastrous hunt in Pontiac, Dean had stubbornly refused to hunt with Stacey, they were to close he said and he wasn't prepared to risk being used 'by some evil son of a bitch' to hurt her. So it was agreed that they would only hunt together if either of the teams needed back up, which wasn't often. As a result Dean was going stir crazy staying at home with nothing to do except hang around the yard and work on his car whilst they waited out the last few weeks of Zara's pregnancy.
It didn't help that Stacey and Bobby were taking up the hunting slack and had been away almost continuously for the last month. They had only returned home late the evening before, Bobby with a concussion and a nasty gash on his leg and Stacey practically dead on her feet from the drive. They were both still asleep.
"Look Dean I was going to call in some other hunters, but there's a hunt a few States over, werewolves would be my guess. You should take Stacey, gank the monster then take a few days just the two of you."
Dean sighed, "call in the other hunters."
"Dean..."
"No Sammy, just no. Even if I wanted to, I can't drag Stace out on another hunt. She's worn out." Dean interrupted. Stacey was asleep, had been from the moment her head had hit the pillow ten hours ago. She hadn't moved an inch when he had slid himself out from under her getting out of bed, a sure sign that she had hit her limit and needed a break.
"Who's worn out?"
Dean turned towards the sleepy voice, his eyes lighting up as the woman they had been discussing walked into the kitchen, long hair tousled and sticking up simultaneously, the ultimate bed head. She was clad only in one of his t-shirts which did nothing to cover her long bare legs, an extremely sexy and compelling sight.
He shifted slightly as his body reacted as it always did when he was in the same room as her and If it wasn't for the fact that the shadow's under her eyes clearly told their own story as to who was worn out, he'd be more than a little tempted to take her upstairs and show her how much he had been missing her. With her having been gone for weeks, and the house being so busy they really hadn't had a lot of alone time. Something he needed to remedy soon.
"Morning Stacey." Sam said. He immediately understood why Dean was dead set against going on this hunt with Stacey. His friend clearly was in need of a break.
"Stace, baby what are you doing out of bed?" Dean asked, as Stacey slid into the seat at his side with a groan.
Stacey didn't immediately answer, instead took a sip of Dean's coffee, sighing as the bitter liquid hit her tongue.
"Cas and Camille are bickering like a pair of kids." Stacey said tiredly, "I had to come downstairs before I was forced to shove an angel blade somewhere it wasn't intended to go."
Dean laughed. "They've been at it all week. Cas has no finesse when it comes to the ladies."
"Got to say Dean, they kind of remind me of you and Stacey when she first got here." Sam said, remembering his brother's inability to deal with his growing feelings for Stacey so instead he had acted like a twelve year old boy, fireworks had ensued.
"Bite your tongue Sammy, I was all suave with Stace." Dean said, his green eyes sparkling at the memory of Stacey's first nights home and the sparks which had flown between them from their very first encounter. He really wasn't suave with Stace, Sammy was right he'd been unable to accept his growing feelings for Stacey, and her apparent dislike for him had him all tied in knots.
Stacey giggled. "Sure you were hun."
"Seriously Dean you should talk to Cas." Sam said earnestly.
Dean raised a brow. "Come on man, Cas is like a brother to me but no way am I giving him the birds and the bees talk."
"I'm not suggesting that Dean, but if he's got feelings for Camille ..." Sam trailed off, the unspoken, don't be a dick and speak to your friend clear.
"Fine." Dean said, "I'll talk to him later."
"So did I hear you mention a werewolf attack Sam?"
