Remember my first-ever one-shot? I couldn't resist making a part two, since yesterday was Valentine's Day. Yeah, I'm a day late but at least I did something! I reread the first part of this two-shot and I realized that I used to write horribly... anyways, I don't own HOA. Now enjoy yourselves!
Fabian's P.O.V.
One year ago, today. Valentine's Day. The beginning of Nina and I's relationship. Okay, that sounded a little cliché, but that day could seriously have been a chick-flick. I wouldn't have traded that day for anything, though.
"Good morning, good morning! It's sunny this morning, a few stray clouds, with a 100% chance of LOVE raining down on Anubis House!" a voice, strangely sounding like Amber's, called from the hall outside my room. I chuckled, kicking my legs over the side of the bed and stretching my arms.
This year, Valentine's Day landed nicely on a Saturday, which meant Nina and I had the entire day to ourselves. One glorious day where PDA was allowed (not that I was thinking about that), romance was encouraged, and chocolate could be eaten without guilt.
Chocolate. Oh no. I had completely forgotten.
"Alfie! Did you actually go out and buy the chocolates for the s'mores last night?" I yelled after dashing into the hallways.
"Nope! There was a big box of them in the cupboard, so I used those!" Alfie replied from the living room.
Great, just great.
"Trudy, I'll just be out for a moment!" I shouted as I passed the kitchen, stirring Trudy from her hustle and bustle in the kitchen.
"Wait, where are you-" I closed the door behind me and sprinted over to the school as fast as possible. A few freshmen were selling boxes of chocolates and flowers in the auditorium, and I didn't have time to go anywhere else.
After I finally arrived at the school, I tried to make it all the way to the Drama classroom, which doubled as the auditorium, but something-someone, actually-stopped me before I could get halfway there.
"Where do you think you're going?" that someone asked from behind me. I cringe, recognizing that voice. I slowly turned around to meet the sparkling eyes of someone I knew only too well.
"Hey, Nina. What are you doing here?" I tried to play the whole thing off nonchalantly, but she just laughed and grabbed my arm.
"Don't worry. This year, I'm planning Valentine's Day for us!" she said, tugging me through the halls of guys trying to buy their girlfriends last minute presents. I think I saw Jerome there as I was dragged against my will.
"B-but isn't the guy supposed to do that? Pay for the presents and set up the date?" I inquired as we made our way back to Anubis House.
"Don't worry. Me and Amber planned this all yesterday, so you don't need to fret about a thing!" she replied, pecking me on the check.
Instead of going back into Anubis House like I thought she was, she went around the side of the building to a small clearing we used to go when we need to get away from our loud housemates. Homework, talking, kissing (only after we started dating), it all happened right there.
But now, it was adorned with little roses and a red blanket. A picnic basket sat in the corner of the fabric, and there was soft music wafting through the air. And this year, I took pride in knowing that my girlfriend did all this. For us.
"You like it?" she asked softly, hoping my silence was one of surprise, not disappointment.
"I love it! But-"
"But what? Do I need to get something else? More food? A bigger blanket? Does it smell weird? I knew the roses smelled a little funny!"
"I love it, but not as much as I love you."
Nina stood speechless, her face frozen. Slowly, her lips turned upwards into a big, bright smile.
"I love you too, but not as much as I love food!" she yelled, running over to the blanket. I followed her, laughing until it hurt. Flopping down onto the blanket, I grabbed a marshmallow from the basket.
"No, no! Not until you eat lunch first!" she scolded, snatching the treat from my fingers and replacing it with a piece of cheese.
"Cheese? Really?" I questioned.
"It's delicious, taste it," she responded, taking a cheese bite herself. I bit into the tiny square, and instantly I understood what she was talking about. The creaminess, the sweet taste, it all melted in my mouth and I couldn't resist another one.
"Told'ya you would like it," Nina taunted.
Reaching for the basket again, I pulled out something that wasn't cheese.
It was the rose I had given Nina last year. The one that would never die.
"Oh yeah. I kept that. Hope you don't mind," she blushed, taking it from me and placing it back into the basket.
"Why would I? I think I would be hurt if you didn't keep it," I whispered, leaning in for a sweet kiss.
Well, a sweet and strangely-cheese tasting kiss.
