Days, months, and years passed but with no sign of his Hikari. Atemu, once realizing the mistake he made wasted no time in hunting for Yugi as he searched the school from top to bottom, however, it was a failed attempt.

Yugi was gone and he doesn't know where.

Nor do the rest of the gang.

Yugi is gone.

Atemu even searched the school for Amy and there was no sight of her whatsoever. It's like both of them up and left to never return again.

And it was all because of him.

Why else would Yugi leave so suddenly?

He even went as far as calling Yugi's mobile though the line was completely cut off, so he rendered that technique useless. In another attempt to get hold of Yugi, he ran towards his Hikari's house just to find it empty.. Completely abandoned.

The thought of Yugi leaving because of him made his heart suffer from the pain and longing to hold his Hikari close to him, telling him how foolish he was for rejecting him when in actual fact, he loves the teen deeply.

He has for many years.

The fact that Yugi felt the same way came as a shock to him and the whole idea of being with Yugi was great, however, his mind reacted before his heart and rejected his little Hikari with thoughts swimming around in his head that, his best friend.. His light deserves someone so much better than him.

Ridiculous.

Yugi loves him and he loves his Hikari..

But now he has no way of telling his love about his feelings, about his idiotic mistake in rejecting the smaller teen.

It's been two years since he last saw Yugi. No one has heard a word whatsoever from the young teen. Even Seto is at a loss of his whereabouts.

It's like he and his sister seize to exist.

However, Yugi will always exist in his heart.

His only love..

Once the gang found out about the previous events two years ago, they went into total shock. It seems little Yugi never told them of his feelings for Atemu which was unlike him. Normally his little light tells the gang everything. No secrets between them. I guess love is different though? He did have his sister to talk to about such a sensitive subject, after all.

Atemu, since his light left, hasn't been the same. He skips meals and it's rare anyone see's him apart from at school. He's become distant from everyone and it's been that way for two years.

The gang try to lift his spirits up by asking him to duel or go to the arcade though he straight up rejects them with a "I'm fine." Normally the group would push him further, however, they've realized how stubborn Atemu really is and pushing him would only seem to rile the Egyptian up.

It's got to the point where the gang hardly speak to Atemu due to the barrier he's put between himself and the group.

No one can seem to break the barrier, no one..

Apart from his light.

But his light is gone and it's all his fault.

He lay on his bed, eyes wide open as his fingers held a picture in a deathly grip as if letting go means the picture would disappear, never to be seen again. His eyes were red and puffy from the two years of constant crying and lack of sleep. Moisture rolled down his cheeks as his eyes remained unblinking as his gaze remained on the picture before him.

The picture is of him and Yugi when they went to the park one time. Atemu's arm was slung around Yugi's shoulder and both were grinning at the camera, ice cream in hand. Yugi had a blob of ice cream on his nose as his eyes went cross-eyed as his gaze was focused on the ice cream, though the grin on his face was unmistakable. After the picture was taken Atemu remembered his ice cream falling from his hands before landing on the floor beneath him, resulting in a heart-warming laugh to escape past his lights rosy lips. That day.. Was when Atemu knew he was in love with the boy.

With a sob of despair, he held his head in his hands as he grieved for Yugi, body shaking with the intensity of his sorrow. He held the picture close to his heart before pulling the covers over his face, sobbing his heart out, hoping Yugi could hear his pain.

He needs to see his Hikari, he needs to ask for his forgiveness.

He loves him.

He beat himself up that day when Yugi left. He knew Yugi would've been hurting, hurting more than he is now. The smaller teen was so sensitive and innocent. He's never asked another out before so Atemu couldn't imagine the pain his light went through with his unexpected rejection. It left him in distress knowing he was the cause of his little ones heartbreak.

If only he wasn't being foolish that day.. If only he embraced Yugi's love with open arms.

Just like he wanted to do.

His life seems cold and meaningless without his Hikari by his side.

There's no one to light up his day with a bright smile or laugh at his silly little jokes.

Without his light, there's no reason to wake up in the morning.

What is life without his other half?

His eyes were stinging from the salty tears that were constantly falling from his eyes like a waterfall. His shirt and bedding were drenched from the moisture which in turn made him feel uncomfortable.

Deciding to at least get some new clothes to sleep in, instead of the clingy ones he wore. He made his way downstairs where he knew were a pile of clothes that were waiting patiently to be brought up. Once downstairs he went into the living room and froze.

His heart was racing rapidly as he locked eyes with amethyst.. Those eyes he yearned to see for two years.

"Hikari?" His eyes filled to the brim with tears before they shot down his cheek.

Said person nodded, a small smile pulling at his lips. "It's me.. Yami."

Atemu shook his head as he held a hand over his mouth in disbelief.. "No.. No... I'm dreaming right?"

Yugi shook is head as he held his arms wide in invitation for his Yami who accepted in a heartbeat as he ran and embraced the smaller teen.

Atemu wrapped his arms around his lights waist as he let out silent sobs.. His Hikari is here..

"Shh.. It's ok, I'm here now" He wrapped his arms around Atemu's neck as he pulled the taller closer towards his body.

Both stayed in each other's embrace for a couple of minutes later in silence before Atemu spoke.

"Hikari.. I'm s-sorry."

Yugi frowned as he pulled Yami at arms length, his eyes staring into that of crimson. "What for?"

Atemu squeezed his eyes shut tightly before opening them. "Two years ago.. I made a mistake." Once Yugi made no sound he continued. "I've always loved you but I've always thought you deserve better than me.. So I rejected."

Yugi sighed. "You think that's an excuse Yami? Don't you think I can make my own decision in whether you're good enough for me or not?" he moved away from Atemu's embraced as he turned around, his back towards his Yami. "I loved you dammit.. The rejection itself was like a million stab wounds to my heart.. This is all because you didn't believe you were worthy of my love?"

He didn't wait for a reply as he continued, tears gathering in his eyes. "The line you used is what is always said in movies Yami.. If you loved me then you would've been like 'Fuck it, he loves me and I love him so let's work this out between us'" Atemu's eyes were wide at Yugi's use of words, however still remained silent as Yugi continued. "I had to leave, my dark.. I had to get away from it all, a storm built up in my heart over your rejection, I needed to get rid of it.. I needed to concur it, does that make sense?"

His back was still turned towards Atemu so he couldn't see his nod, however, he sensed in so he continued. "Me and my sister went away, to Egypt actually. And it was beautiful." He gave a nervous chuckle. "It's funny I should say that actually because I never really paid attention to my surroundings in the two years of being there." He wiped the tears that fell down his cheeks, as he turned around and continued with a small smile. "Because.. My mind was focused on you and you only.. Even after the rejection I still love you and for some reason I had the urge to come back, to confess my love all over again."

"Hikari.." Atemu took a step closer towards Yugi.

"So here I am Yami.." He watched as his Yami took a few more steps towards him before lifting a hand to stroke his cheek lovingly. He closed his eyes as his body tingled from the touch.

"Ask away Hikari.. Do what you came here to do" He continued to stroke the smaller teens cheek who nodded in reply.

Yugi smiled up at the taller teen. "Then Yami.. I know we've been apart for two years but my love is still strong and I was hoping we could forget about the past events and focus on the present and the future events to come, so will you, um.. Will you take me as yours so we can enjoy our future together as a whole?" He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Maybe he could've worded his confession better..

Atemu grinned as he leaned forward, breath apart from Yugi's lips. "Ra.. Yes, let's begin our journey together as one." He closed the small gap between their lips as his merged with Yugi's, this kiss was passionate, filled with all the love and regret from what happened two years ago. Atemu, in this kiss, projected his sorrows from the previous events and his happiness that Yugi is now his.. His to love, hold, and cherish for all eternity.

Both wouldn't give this moment up for nothing, because it was them, both in each other's embrace as they share their love with one another.

After air became a big issue they broke apart, both staring into the others eyes lovingly as they try to catch their breath. Both smiled in the others embrace though none broke it.

After two years apart, the two will be hard to separate.

They're in love, after all.

A love in which would last for all eternity.

"I love you Aibou."

"I love you too Mou Hitori no Boku."

"Forever"
