He was turning to leave her

He was turning to leave her. Again.

Lyssa looked around sullenly then hurried up the spiral staircase to the boy's dormitory. Her hand on the wooden door, she sighed. If she messed this up, nothing could ever be the same. Choking her thoughts before they could escape her, she shoved against the door.

"Severus, you really can't hide up here forever. Someone is bound to find you sometime, you know." Her voice was low, and he turned. She was taken aback, as tears tracked down his cheeks.

"I know. God, I know. But, I can't really fix it, can I?" He question dared her to challenge reality, to tell him he could change it. She sat on the bed, taking his chin in her cool palm.

"No, you can't. But that doesn't mean you have to live the rest of your in that moment." He shifted then, grabbing her waist with both hands. Before she could make the room stop spinning, he was above her, and she was pinned.

"This'll never be what I expected to hear from you. I kind of expected a fuck-Lily attitude."

"I have a fuck-Lily attitude. It's just, that is not what you need right now. You need to know that it was not your fault, what happened out there. From…where you were…you couldn't tell if she was helping you...or Potter. And you cannot be blamed. I won't let you be blamed." She lifted a shoulder, pursing her lips. "I would beat the hell out of her if I could. But that wouldn't help you. So, I won't."

"That's what I love about you," he said, as his lips brushed hers. "You'll never think of what you want. You'll always put someone else first.
