Sonadow - Eternal
Chapter One
"Shadow are you up yet? You are going to be late for school." Nancy, a deep purple almost black looking hedgehog dressed in navy blue jeans, a baby blue fitted shirt and black trainers, called up from the bottom of the stairs.
"Yeah, just trying to find my…oh never mind. Be down in a minute mum." Shadow called back as he poked his head out of his bedroom door.
"Alright but you need to hurry, if you're late again Mr Snipes is going to give you detention." Nancy called back then walked away into the kitchen to wash away the breakfast items in the sink.
Shadow grabbed his school back and rushed out of his room and down the stairs. He entered the kitchen, kissed his mum on the cheek good bye and ran out of the house after putting on his long dark blue trench coat and gothic like black boots. Nancy smiled warmly and chuckled to herself as she heard the door slam shut as he rushed out.
"Oh Shadow, what am I going to do with you?" She softly said, putting a mug on the draining board after washing it up in soapy water.
Shadow ran down the road as he threw his backpack on his back and soon caught up with his best friend. They exchanged a quick hug and walked side by side to the high school.
"Almost late again Shadow, naughty-naughty." Rouge, a white bat with purple wings wearing a short dark pink skirt, a fitted white shirt with the top button undone and black high-heeled ankle boots with sliver buckles on the side of each one , teased as she lightly pushed the hedgehog beside her.
"Yeah I know right, I really need to listen to my alarm. Why do they have a snooze button there anyway?" Shadow replied with a light chuckle.
"That's because the people who invented them wants everyone to be late. It's a conspiracy I tell ya. " A voice from behind the two spoke out then walk in between them and put an arm around each.
"Hello Sonic, nice of you to join us." Rouge grinned as she glanced at the blue hedgehog.
"Oh it's always nice to be in my company…so Shads did you finish the report?" Sonic chuckled then asked Shadow with a casual tone, trying to keep his heart in control from bashing out of his chest.
Ever since the first year of high school, Sonic has been crushing on Shadow, with it growing more and more into love as the months and years went by. Shadow has no clue to this but does feel something on the lines of love back but never pursued it for fear of rejection. Having Sonic in his life as a friend was better than never having him there at all in his opinion.
"Oh damn the report…I completely forgot to write it last night." Shadow widened his eyes in realisation and panic.
"Relax, it's not due in until tomorrow but I thought I better remind ya. I can help you if you like…how about staying over mine and we can work on it tonight." Sonic suggested with a hopeful tone.
"Yeah you would sure love that wont you blue." Rouge smirked as she thought to herself.
Rouge, Knuckles, Tails and Amy were the only ones out of the whole high school who knew about Sonics little obsession over Shadow. There was one incident, a couple of years ago, when everyone almost found out but Knuckles soon sorted it out, with Rouge's help of course.
"I would have to ask my mum if it would be alright but since it's for school, I don't think she will have a problem with it. Thanks." Shadow smiled as he and Sonic locked eyes.
"Awesome and when we are done I want you to check out this new horror movie my sister brought the other day. She said it's scary, now what was it called again?" Sonic beamed out with joy then took a moment to think of the movie he was on about.
"Well hopefully you can show me tonight…oh no look who it is." Shadow laughed lightly then frowned when he caught sight of the school bully, making Sonic let go of the two and walk normally in between Shadow and Rouge.
Blake transferred to this high school a month back from an unknown place he refuses to talk about to anyone. He took a deep dislike to Shadow, for reasons the hedgehog didn't know of, and was a complete ass towards most of the students here but Shadow got the worst threats from the human.
"Oh look it's, the blue moron, the slut and the freak." Blake, a short human with tanned skin green eyes and brown hair dressed in black jeans a blue t-shirt and white trainers with black on the soles, said as the three stopped at the front of the school.
"Aw is little Blakey upset because his daddy doesn't have the time for him, what a shame." Sonic faked a sad look and tone then burst out in laughter when Blake growled out in anger.
"At least I have a dad, unlike some freak we all know…how's life with out a dad stripy shit?" Blake sinisterly grinned as he looked at Shadow.
"Pretty awesome actually. I don't need a dead beat dad who only runs away when things get tuff. Me and mum are doing just fine without him." Shadow frowns with crossed arms.
"That's right so why don't you run along to the shit hole you crawled out of and go flip yourself." Rouge waved him off in a dismissive manner as she grinned.
"Or how about I rip both yours and the freaks wings out then start on the morons quills?" Blake threatened with a devious grin.
Before any of the three could answer the school bell rang and all the students started heading inside. Blake narrowed his eye at the friends with hate then walked inside quickly.
"Well we better get inside before we get a late report." Rouge sighed then all walked inside the building.
They walked to their classes and took a seat in their usual chairs. Sonic had double maths, which he was not looking forward to. Rouge had geography, which she didn't mind to much about but was glad she wasn't Sonic. Shadow had arts and crafts first lesson but even if he enjoyed the lesson he hated the fact that Blake was there too.
"Right then class today we are going to go out on the field and sketch what ever we see." Mrs Summers, a white rabbit with baby blue eyes dressed in a long light pink dress and flat white slip-on shoes, announced with a bright cheery smile.
The class was soon empty as the students followed the white rabbit out of the school and over to the fields, away from those doing P.E. They each had their A4 sketch books and various pencils with them. All found a nice place to sit and soon began looking and sketching something in sight of them. Shadow had picked somewhere a little away from everyone and sat under a shady tree, leaning up against it. He was looking out through the metal green gates surrounding the school and saw the perfect thing to draw. There was a small cottage looking house with wild flowers and a stone path leading up to the front door. There was a low stone wall going along to separate the front garden from the street out front.
"Looking good Shadow, well done." Mrs Summers softly said as she glanced down at Shadows work.
"Thank you, although I'm having a little trouble with some of the flowers, it's hard to see clearly from way back here." Shadow nervously smiled up.
"Nonsense Shadow, you are doing remarkably well even from this distance." Mrs Summers complimented with a warm smile then walked to check on the others in her art class.
Soon the bell went signalling the end of class and all moved to their next scheduled lesson. Shadow walked into his Maths class and took his seat, placing his text book in front of him at his desk.
"Hay hun, how was art class?" Rouge whispered from behind Shadow, leaning forwards a little.
"It was relaxing and Blake didn't start on me so I would say very nice for a change." Shadow whispered back as he slightly turned his head around to look at Rouge.
"Alright quiet down students, the lesson starts with a small pop quiz." Mr Snipes, a tall pale skinned human with blue eyes, short blond hair, wearing a brown suit with a crisp white shirt and black shoes, announced then chuckle at the complaining noises coming from his students.
He handed out sheets of paper to his class faced down then took his seat at his desk.
"You have twenty minutes on the clock, you may begin." He said as he set his timer…
"That was horrid." Rouge sighed as she and Shadow walked out of the classroom after the lesson had ended.
"I don't know, I thought that pop quiz was a little too easy." Shadow smirked as they walked down the corridor to their next shared lesson.
"You would, if we didn't know Tails I would say you were the brainiac in our little group. Although you are the second smartest in the school, Tails coming first that is." Rouge laughed a little.
"I'm not one to boast but yeah you're right." Shadow chuckled as they reached the science room.
"I like this class, I wonder what we are going to be doing today?" Rouge said as she and Shadow sat next to each other on one of the two seater workstation.
"I hope we get to blow up a jelly baby again, that was way passed awesome." Shadow smirked as he watched the science teacher walk in.
"Yeah and smelled super sweet, shame they can't put that smell as an air-freshener or something." Rouge whispered with excitement.
"Ok today we are going to do something a little different. We are going to make crystals and record how they grow over the next few weeks. Once we come back from the holidays you will find something very interesting with them. I'm going to pass out instructions and the ingredients are on the workbench on the far side of the room. You will work in pairs, with who ever you like, so chose someone you work well with." Professor Page, an elderly light brown fox with sunset orange eyes dressed in a white lab coat and black boots, announced as he passed out the instructions on each desk.
"Right then partner, you get the stuff we need while I'll go through the instructions." Rouge smiled at Shadow who nodded and stood up.
