Grand Magic Games Arc. Erza and Jellal have endured many trials that tested their relationship. It doesn't really help that most people view Jellal as the same sadistic man from the Tower of Heaven. With the Grand Magic Games in session, will the events solidify their friendship, or lead to other things, better or worse? Rated M for future content.

2. Chapter 2

As expected, Jellal was met with dozens of guards upon nearing the fighting grounds, all weapons pointed at him.

"Shit"

"Declare yourself, and your guild."

Jellal blinked at them, remembering that "Mystogan" wasn't the talkative type, nor was he one to cause a stir. In that case, causing a distraction and rushing into the arena wasn't exactly in his favor, especially with so many spectators and security so tight. It also served his memory that the last time he chanced revealing his identity, he received a wonderful sense link gift of being fed peppers and knocked out. He made no move for his staffs, and stood there mutely, ignoring their inquiry.

They stared at each other in tense silence, before a man he recognized from a previous encounter with the rune knights stepped forward.

"Mystogan of Fairy Tail, isn't it?"

Doranbolt stared at him suspiciously. "What are you doing here again, shouldn't you be with the rest of your guild watching the games?"

Jellal felt a small panic rise within him, but managed to squander it- everything was on the line right now. Once again, he remained mum, as he felt his counterpart would.

"I asked you a question, Mystogan. Or perhaps I'm mistaking you for someone else?"

Jellal could sense the taunt in his words, and knew he would have to reciprocate some sort of response to save no only his ass, but all of Fairy Tail's.

"I was sent by Master Makarov to recover my guild mate once the battle has ended. It is stated in the rulebook that a single member of the same guild may do so."

The air was thick with tension as the guards apprehended him, Doranbolt's eyes boring into his own.

"Very well. "

Jellal turned and continued toward the arena, feeling all the eyes of the soldiers burning into his back.

The eyes did not waver from him, even at the conclusion of the battle. Suspicion grew within Doranbolt when Jellal collected the collapsed and bloodied Erza tenderly, continuing wordlessly to the recovery wing, a sneer adjoining his lowered voice as he watched the cloaked man carry her away.

"I might find favor with Fairy Tail, but that does not assuage my individual suspicions, Mystogan."
