Preface: Porcelain.

Miyami Kinomiya is the youngest of six. She has four brothers and a sister, as well as an arsenal of cousins – three of who live nearby – on either side of the family. Her most notable relations are to acclaimed soccer-prodigies Tyson Kinomiya and his former captain Kai Hiwatari whose team won the FIFA U-17 World Cup championships in Russia last June; a title her eldest brother, Kirin, had earned when he was fifteen. Accordingly, Miyami played for the Presidio Middle School girls team as their "sick" midfielder alongside best friends Aspin Grant and Amber Benson, and is prepared for tryouts in September of her upcoming freshman year at George Washington International.

The same pretentious high school Kai, her brother (closest to her age-wise) Kaz, and their burly-looking compatriots (Tala, Bryan and Brooklyn) are enrolled. At least she knows she has her self-appointed Praetorians whenever some inconsiderate boy thinks flirting with her is a good idea. Furthermore, making matters brighter, childhood friends Max and Rei are going to be in her homeroom class … as well as bookworm Emily York: The proverbial thorn, impaled very deeply, in her side.

So deep Miyami dreams of Emily's insistent promotion of the effervescent joys education offers …

Another individual she's oh-so-eager to reconnect with: The equally as petite and personable Ming Ming Love, to who she is frequently compared after they shared the spotlight in last year's Drama production. Unapologetically social out of self-interest, Ming Ming stalks Miyami relentlessly around campus due to her web of fashion industry connections (on behalf of her designer-mother, Tanya Belyaev), gabbing going-nowhere insinuations in her ear and making offhand promises to introduce Miyami to some bigwig agent should she ever consider a career as a songstress.

What Ming Ming doesn't know?

Miyami can't sing.
