Hi everybody! I have gotten some reviews asking who Pawns is about. The poem is meant to be about any Shinobi, actually. This stems from how Kakashi tells Team 7 that people view ninjas as nothing more than tools.
Part of it is also inspired by Naruto and his dream to become Hokage, and how he started off as nothing more than a dead-last who no one believed in. Another thing about this poem is that it can be interpreted as you should give up, or (this would be the Naruto answer) always believe in yourself and work hard.
Another thing about poetry (and I am quoting Kakashi here) is always look underneath the underneath.
