A/N: I warned you, you can't say I didn't….this one is particularly miserable.
Scene 2:
Kana had fallen ill, deathly ill, and was forced into bed rest. The whole time she kept apologizing, "It's my fault that you lost your eyesight. I couldn't protect you. I didn't expect that to happen. I was so weak that I couldn't even shield you from a rubber duck…"
Hatori tried in vain to ease her guilt, "There was nothing you could have done. It isn't your fault, don't blame yourself."
She didn't believe him.
Akito summoned Hatori one day, "She wants to forget, it's her memories of you that are hurting her. You, the man so pathetic he gets wounded by a rubber duck."
The God didn't even try to mask his chuckles.
Hatori couldn't ignore the order, the mandate to erase his love's memories.
As he stood there holding her head in one hand, her hand in the other, she still kept expressing regret, "Forgive me, I couldn't protect you. From something so-so feeble as a-a r-rubber duck!"
Tears leaked from her eyes, covered by his palm.
"Kana everything's going to be alright now, I promise."
She continued to be contrite; right up until the flash of light wiped her mind clean.
And Hatori swore to himself that he would never tell anyone the real reason this happened.
