MBS 2
A/N: I thought I would get a head start and post the first two chapters for your viewing pleasure! I hope you are anticapating my new version of the story because the story line is set in stone and is more planned out, which means I do have the ending already in mind. I am very excited to reaveal my storytelling to all of you!
The next morning, Luna could barely open her eyes. She assumed that crying herself to sleep would make them more swollen than they usual were, so she tried to go to the nearest bathroom on the floor in order to fix herself. While opening the room door, she took a long look around to see if anyone else was out for she did not want to show her swollen face. She tip-toed to the bathroom, but unfortunately for Luna, the door did not budge, not even the slightest bit. Luna released a big sigh.
"That was a pretty loud sigh." It was Louis. "Good morning." Luna used to her hands to cover her face, "Hey."
By the sound of his feet, Luna could tell Louis walked over to her. Though she had covered up her face, looking down she could see his feet right in front of her.
"I came to check up on you-Why are you covering your face?" Luna turned her head, hands still put up in front.
Luna took a step back, "N-Nothing. Nothing to worry about here-"
Louis took a step forward, "What do you mean?"
"I said it was nothing." This time Louis grabbed ahold of Luna's hands gently in attempt to coax her from moving, but Luna had a strong resolve. Louis was not playing games anymore. "Why are you being so difficult? I am only trying to-"
Louis managed to win over Irene and he saw. He let go of her hands.
"You were crying weren't you?"
There was no longer anything to hide, so Luna stopped trying to cover up.
"I said it was nothing." Luna said softly.
"Lets go to my room," Louis dragged Luna up the stairs that were beside the elevator and walked up a floor.
To Luna's displeasure, Masaomi was leaving his room at the same moment.
"Oh, hello you two," Masaomi noticed the twins.
Luna was about to cover her face again when Louis wrapped his arms around her, covering her face in his chest. Apparently this made Masaomi a bit flustered, "Um, what are you guys doing."
Louis made up an excuse, "I forgot how much I missed my little sister, so I felt like hugging her again."
"O-Okay, well I am gonna go down for breakfast. I'll see you two later and Luna I have a favor to ask of you too."
After Masaomi left, like he said, Louis brought Luna to his room, he closed the door and sat his sister on the bed that was placed in an identical spot compared to her room. Luna saw what an immense difference his place turned into. He had a white desk covered with hair gadgets and supplies, with two matching wooden chairs, and he had a beautiful window across from the door with white curtains. Louis slid one of the wooden chairs next to the bed and sat down.
"Sorry," Louis apologized, "I know how much you hate it when people see you upset."
"I'm fine. I'm just glad it was you and no one else." Luna confessed, "I did not know being back here would trouble me so much. I even had a whole mental conversation with myself yesterday about coming back. And I can't stay away forever. I had to come back sometime."
"True." Louis said. "Though I would love to give some advice, I could never know what you are going through. You did go all the way to the U.S without telling me, so I can't really understand how you felt about leaving."
"Wow, way to lay down the law. Ouch." Louis laughed, "The truth hurts."
"Yeah it does, but I didn't mean to not tell you at the time."
"Alright."
"I really wanted to leave, so anywhere was fine for me. I didn't even decide where I was going to, until I left for the airport and took a last minute flight."
"Well, that makes a lot of sense. How come you never told me where you were later?"
"I was worried you were going to tell everyone else and they would all come to find me."
"Oh."
"Anyways, I'm sorry too, for not telling you right away. You are my twin and you have the right to know."
"Thanks."
"You too. You hid me earlier."
"You have to think fast on your feet in this household."
"It is pretty hard to go around without someone asking what you are doing every single second. Last night, Yusuke was making a big deal about my room and whatnot. Is it true that no one was allowed to go inside?"
"That is correct."
"Why is that?"
"Even with Ema moving in, we still had more rooms to go around and giving your room to someone else would be like removing you from our family. Instead, we all had a mutual agreement that we would leave it alone."
"-But the sheets were new and everything."
"Well, I put on a new set before you arrived."
"Ohhh, okay."Luna's own stupidity made her laugh, "Am I dumb or and I dumb?"
"Yeah, pretty much." Louis replied, in which Luna feigned a gasp and then the two laughed merrily it off.
"I am so glad you are back. I said this yesterday, but I really missed you." Luna said.
"Me too and by now, I think your face is well over being swollen."
"Okay, great because that means we can go downstairs for breakfast and I am hungry."
Both Luna and Louis went ahead and went downstairs for breakfast. Downstairs, Masaomi, Wataru, Yusuke and Ema were all eating breakfast.
"Good morning," Louis announced to the family. Ema replied, "Good morning, Louis and good morning to you too, Luna."
Luna wondered on whether to not say anything or reply. She chose the latter, "Morning. The food looks good." The dining table was filled with more eggs, bacon and toast than you could imagine. And a glass of water for every person, except Wataru, who had orange juice.
Promptly after their morning greeting, the twins went to the table and took a seat beside one another in sync, which made Masaomi chuckle, meanwhile, Yusuke and Ema stared in awe. Wataru on the other hand had his hands full eating his meal. Luna and Louis simply responded with shrugs and dug into the food. The family had had experienced the twin-ship between Tsubaki and Azusa, but this was on a whole other level. Azusa and Tsubaki had Natsume, though Louis and Luna were a pair. Unlike Azusa, Tsubaki and Natsume, the twins were more similar in personality and behavior. They might have lived apart for all this time, yet old habits die hard.
"This was just like when you two were kids," Masaomi said reminiscing, "And speaking of kids, Luna about that favor I asked you about? Is it alright if you went with Yusuke and Ema to school. I was supposed to drop of their documents since their are going back to school again. And then after school, you, Yusuke, and Ema go to pick up Wataru and Futo."
Yusuke frowned, "We are not kids, bro."
"You guys will always be kids to me." Masaomi declared.
"It's alright, Yusuke." Ema added in with a small chuckle because she was glad to just be a part of the family. Yusuke seemed to be tamed by her few words much to Luna's amusement.
"Do you mind?" Masaomi asked.
Luna nodded in agreement, "I don't mind at all."
"If you're going," Yusuke said as he stood up from his chair, bowl in hand, "Ema and I will be leaving soon, so you should hurry up a bit."
Yusuke and Ema left the dining to put their dishes away.
"You don't have to wait for me, we can leave now." Luna said. She attempted to leave the table, but Louis stopped her. "You haven't finished eating yet."
"It's fine. I wasn't that hungry in the first place-And I don't want to make them late. Um, could I borrow someone's car?"
"Are you sure you're qualified to drive?" Masaomi asked. "The road is opposite."
"I'll catch on. I did get my license here first. I'm sure the muscle memory will kick in."
"You can borrow my car. The keys are at the desk near the entrance." Louis offered.
"Okay thanks."
The drive to the college was not the worst, but it was not the best. Yusuke was definitely ignoring Luna for some reason throughout the ride. He was only talking and listening to Ema and it really bothered Luna. Luna only asked the questions in the first place to be polite and only Ema answered them. It was as if Yusuke completely forgot she asked him a question. Anyways, Yusuke would answer her questions if Ema said something along the lines of, "What about you, Yusuke?" It irritated Luna.
Luna could not even describe the relief she felt when she finally pulled up to park at the school." She could not wait to "kick" Yusuke out.
"Have a nice day." Luna said.
"Aren't you coming in too?" Ema asked.
"I'll catch up with you guys later."
Adding on to Luna's already irritated-self, Yusuke decided that now was the perfect time to interrupt her, "Ema lets go. We need to get to class."
"Sure go ahead." Luna was so close to cracking.
Luna waited for them to leave and once they were gone, she almost forgot the papers Masaomi had given her before she left the house and went inside the school. Surrounding the school's several white buildings was a black gate. Luna had to go through the main entrance in order to get inside, yet there was one thing she had forgotten, she did not know her way around the place. She forgot to ask Ema and Yusuke where the main office was. In general, Irene was okay with directions, but she had never visited this school. It would be nearly impossible to navigate such a big campus.
"It's worth a short. I did tell Masaomi I would deliver these papers."
Every building and hallway looked the same and some of the classrooms were identical, so it was hard telling if she had passed already. The signs around the school were vague and it was tough trying to find a map. This was going to take forever. In Luna's opinion, she felt like she was walking around in circles and by now, she had lost track of the time. Luna walked down what it seemed to be the fifth time she went down this same white aisle. She turned the corner to the right and suddenly out of the blew, she bumped into someone.
"Ow."
It all happened in a flash. One moment Luna was taking her sweet time trying to find her way around the school, and then the next, she finds herself on the floor. Looking above, Luna saw bundles of colorful papers flying in the air. They almost imitated tropical birds that Luna remembered from her trip to the zoo in the U.S. It looked like magic. Colors of orange, yellow and pink drowned the white dullness of the school.
"I'm so sorry are you alright?" Said a voice.
Luna's perspective changed from above, to slowly shifting downwards to see a boy, frantically picking up his papers. He would grab a couple from the ground and stuff it into his backpack and would pick the papers flying in the air as if they were birds using his arm as a perch. His curly, chocolate brown hair would fall in front of his face as he searched the ground for more of his papers.
"Y-Yeah, I'm okay." Luna said quietly still on the ground, her grip tightened on the documents Masaomi gave her. "Oh, let me help you." Luna began to retrieve some of the papers and she handed it to him. The boy paused, he looked up from the ground and swept his hair behind his ears, revealing his icy blue eyes and pale, freckled face.
"T-Thanks." The boy said.
"No problem." Luna replied in trance.
Time passed by the second and then passed by the minute.
"I am so sorry about this. I should seen where I was going." Luna continued to give more papers back. The boy proceeded to as well, stacking papers in a pile and stuffing some in his bag and with the final papers the two stood up, the boy towering over Luna by a head, holding his stack of yellow, orange, and pink color.
"It's totally fine. I couldn't see with all these papers in the way. So I haven't seen you around this place before. Are you new because you look lost."
"Yes, I am lost, but no, I do not go here. I work."
"Really?! You work. You look so young."
"Well, I'm only twenty-one."
"Twenty-one?! I am twenty-one." The boy smiled in disbelief. "What are you doing here miss worker, if you don't go to school her?"
"My brother asked me to turn in the guardian documents for our other siblings who go here and I don't know my way around."
"Oh, the guardian document? Those are turned into the main office and I just so happen to be heading the same way. Follow me." The boy began to head the hallway in the direction Luna came from and Irene followed closely behind.
"A teacher asked me to give these papers to the office for a reason he did not tell me." The boy said. "-So, I can only hope this isn't a death mission."
"That would be bad."
"Yes, bad, indeed." The boys chuckled, "And if this is indeed a death mission, by the looks of it, I just dragged you into this mess too."
"I'll take my chances."
"And here we are. I gotta give these to the printer lady." The boy stopped at two double-doors with glass windows. Luna pulled open the right door for the boy, who gladly went inside.
The boy with the colorful papers left into another room, leaving Luna alone. Luna walked to the front desk and behind was a older lady with red-pointy rimmed glasses to match her red, short bob. She was busy clicking at her computer.
"Excuse me?" Luna said.
"Yes, how may I help you?" The glasses lady said, taking her attention off of the computer.
"I have these documents for Yusuke and Ema Asahina."
"Oh, that must be the guardian slips, you can just hand that to me."
Luna was relieved to hand that document off because she would not have had to waste all that time wandering around the school. She was glad to be going, though she could feel in her gut that this placing was compelling her.
By the end of school, Luna was back in the car. She was waiting for Yusuke and Ema to come back. As Luna thought, the two came back together, side by side.
"He is way too attached to her," Luna muttered to herself. she watched the two get closer and closer to the car. Yusuke's eyes were only on Ema, his cheeks tinged red crimson. He was soft for once, except his "persona" disappeared when entering the car.
"Now we have to go pick up Wataru and Futo," Ema said as she buckled in her seatbelt.
"Alright." Luna cranked the car to life and drove off to Wataru's school through Ema's direction.
At Wataru's school, from the walking distance you could hear a hefty amount of children playing and among them Luna could hear Wataru's happy voice. Yusuke had taken the lead retrieving the youngest brother, while Ema and Luna stood near the gate entrance of the school. They were greeted with many yelling and screaming children on a blacktop.
Yusuke went up to the teacher monitoring the children. "Hello, we are here to pick up Wataru." He said with a softer voice.
Luna saw the teacher nod and yelled out for the little boy, "Wataru! Your brother is here!"
Wataru paused in the middle of whatever he was doing in the moment and it appeared to be him chasing people in a game of tag. His friends looked to sad to see him leave, nonetheless, they still waved to him and promised to play again as Wataru said his good-byes. Wataru may had felt sad for leaving his friends, moreover besides that, he was excited to see Luna there to pick him up for the first time. Yusuke lifted Wataru from the ground, pretending to capture him. He whispered something to Wataru, who laughed. Maybe Yusuke was not so bad because watching them together made her feel their radiating love.
"Sis, you're here!" Wataru exclaimed.
"Wataru don't move so much. It's hard to hold you with you being jittery and everything." Yusuke scolded.
"Okay, so how about Futo? Do we have to drive to his school too?" Luna asked.
"No, we usually meet up at a park near Wataru's school. We can walk there and then walk back to the car, and then go home." Yusuke's voice sounded less tense. He really was not that bad.
On the way to the other park, Yusuke and Wataru held hands, unlike Luna and Ema quietly walking side by side. Up until now, Luna did not want to admit that Ema made her a bit iffy. Despite her being nice, obviously and welcoming, there was something off. She reminded Luna slightly of her younger teenage-self.
Anyways, the four got to the meeting place that Yusuke mentioned earlier. At the middle, there was a play structure and the park was surrounded by trees with alternating leave from green to yellow, yellow to orange, and orange to red. The breeze that showed nighttime's approach shook the leaves from its owner creating a beautiful picture.
Ema and Yusuke went a separate way to look for Futo around the park. That meant Luna was on watch keeping duty for Wataru. He played on the playground and thankfully, he did not ask Luna to play along too. She was plenty content by seeing him using his energy. Sure, she was a youthful twenty-one year old, however, in comparison to Wataru, she would not even be on the same level.
The trees attracted Luna's attention. It was okay to keep her eyes off Wataru for a tiny smudge. She looked down the rows of tree at the other side of the park. More people were at the park by the view of it. Familiar people? Or were Luna's eyes messing with her. She went towards the direction they stood at, and the closer Luna got she recognized Yusuke.
Yusuke gripped a boy's collar, though the boy retaliated by pushing Yusuke to back. It only made Yusuke's face turn red in anger, matching his bright, red hair. The girl in between the two gasped. Luna watched Yusuke slug the boy in the face.
"Yusuke, what are you doing?!" Luna yelled at him.
The girl and boy next to Yusuke were not some strangers, they were Ema and and lip-bleeding Futo. Futo whipped the blood on his lips, smirking. Blood on the upper lip, but pink gloss the lower. Ema's face was bright red.
Luna connected the dots. Futo's pink glossed lip and Ema's blushing face. Yusuke would not be compelled to do anything aggressive, unless provoked and Luna learned that today. He did not seem like the type of person to attack for no reason. Her blood began to boil. Her patience was wearing thin. She could care less about Futo, in spite of the face that she knew she had a bad feeling about Ema.
"Ema, can we talk?" Luna could tell her face was frowning, "-Alone." Ema complied in an instant and Luna pulled her to the side.
"What were you doing-letting him do that to you, your step-brother? Were you daft enough to actually follow along because-Never mind. You know this is not right as much as I do." Luna had hoped that her message was clearly received because she meant serious business.
Luna finished the conversation with the other two, "I am going home first with Wataru…And I want you three-," Luna pointed her finger at them, "-to sort out your priorities."
Ema sputtered out a small "yes". Futo rolled his eyes, which Luna ignored. It forced Yusuke to grab Futo's uniform collar again. Ema attempted to stop Yusuke and she succeeded. She tamed him.
All Luna knew was that the ride home with Wataru was a silent one.
The next morning, Luna woke up to the sound of knocking and Louis' voice, "Wake up, sleepyhead." Luna forced herself up and out of bed to welcome her twin inside.
Louis smiled at her, "So, how was your first day back?"
Luna reciprocated his smile, "If you want my honest feelings, it was as if I've never left. It seems the younger ones are taking after their older siblings."
"Why is that?"
She filled him in on the scandalous dirt that caused such an eventful evening yesterday. Afterwards, Louis held Luna's hands and said, "We all love Chi-chan. You know that, right? It's similar to how much we love you."
"That doesn't justify what they did."
Louis laughed, "You are still so stubborn. Ema is our special family member now. You need to more patient with her."
"I don't know." Luna dropped onto her bed. She combed her fingers through her bed-head.
"Please, let me." Louis faced a cringe and he sat behind Luna. Unlike her, he gently brushed his hair through his sister's, and he tied her hair into a braid, "This is just like old times." Luna said.
"Yeah, just like old times," Louis agreed. "I promise to keep a careful eye on the younger ones."
"Thanks. You're the best," Luna turned around to face her brother.
"I know," Louis joked, "And I am getting really hungry."
"Yeah, me too."
