"She is already older than the normal age of those we train"

"Yes, but I sense the force is very strong within her. If she is left alone, she could easily fall to the dark side without control."

"Then that is what we must do. She will begin training as soon as she is able."

It would be a week before the girl would awaken. She woke slowly, her eyes were heavy and everything looked blurry. She blinked a few times and the ceiling came into focus. She turned her head carefully to look around her. It was unfamiliar, a medical bay, judging by the bed she was on and the equipment she saw nearby. The next step was sitting up, then examining her body. As far as she could tell she was fine.

"Ah, you are awake, finally." A woman wearing Jedi robes had entered the room.

"How long… have I been asleep?" The girl's voice cracked from lack of use and the woman handed her a glass of water. Grateful the girl gulped it down and her voice came out clearer, "Thank you."

"A week."

The girl gasped, "What happened to me? I remember running to help a Jedi and feeling…something, but then I can't remember anything after that."

"That was Jedi Knight Alek Squinquargesimus. It took all his strength fighting that Sith, but you healed him so that he was able to bring you here to Dantooine."

"I healed him?"

"Yes, you have the force strong within you, which is why you are here in the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, to be trained as a Jedi and learn to harness the force. I am Jedi Master Lonna Vash and I am to begin your training when you feel able. What is your name?"

"Lila Kaartinen. I am ready."

"The life of a Jedi is hard and takes sacrifice. Are you willing to give up all ties to family and friends?"

"Yes. There is nothing to give up." Her parents were dead and there were no known relatives.

"Come with me then. I will give you a tour of the enclave and then we will begin."
