Phases of Paradise

II: Waxing Gibbous Moon: Tsume

Paradise.

Feh. A child's tale.

Yet there is a thrill at hearing that word.

Should I believe it?

Could this be more than wishful thinking?

Part of me hopes so.

I squash it down, like a bug.

The rest of me disagrees—

It is but a lie!

A fanatical trick,

That appeals to your base instinct,

And makes you question.

I support that part of me,

Fully and wholeheartedly.

So I refuse to join this.

This endless quest.

Yet a part of me,

A squished, helpless, broken part—

It struggles and howls,

And breaks free.

It claws its' way up,

Takes over my heart.

Hope and Faith it's called.

It conquers Reason and Logic,

And urges me to seek my dreams.

To join this pointless quest.

So stupid and frail,

Yet controls me all the same.

Paradise—is it really there?

Will I ever see it?

Will they?

Runt, and Porky, and that prick of a leader,

They deserve to, searching as they have.

But the question remains.

"Will I?" my Heart asks,

"No." replies my Brain, merciless.

Reason and Logic,

Vying against Hope and Faith.

Which will win?

Paradise?

Or human slums?

I'll wait,

As this rag-tag pack runs,

Runs in this never-ending journey,

Of Life.

To Paradise.

Or Hell.

And see.
