Rain

Disclaimer: I still own nothing.

I used to hate the rain, but lately I've gotten used to it. It almost helps me sleep on the nights when I'm not pulling extra hours at the lab. When I'm lying in my bed trying to forget about the day's events, it always helps to hear the soft pattering on the shingles. Most people I know would hate living on the top floor of a six-floor walk-up apartment, but I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when I successfully lug an armload of groceries up the steps and drop them on the kitchen counter. The fact that rent is ridiculously cheap is also a plus, although it's not like I really have money problems. Being a CSI pays pretty well these days, and I don't worry about Lindsay's school or clothes since Sam died and basically left us everything he owned (which, technically speaking, may not actually be half of Vegas, but it's pretty damn close). Speaking of which, I was supposed to pick up the real estate section of the paper when I left the lab. I love where we live now, but it would be nice if we were closer to Lindsay's school.

Lately, though, I've been a little worried about Gil. Well, not worried so much as puzzled about his behaviour. He looks like he's been sleeping better, his face isn't as puffy as it used to be, and just the other day he came into the lab and I almost didn't recognize him. The man has gone and shaved off that hideous (but somewhat distinguished-looking) beard. Lord only knows what's gotten into him. Oh, and last night? Greggo was running some tests and blasting his music (something along the lines of Android Lust) and Gil actually bobbed his head for a moment in a semi-serious imitation of Greg's head-banging.

Something has definitely come over him, and I have to say, I think he's found someone. Of course, I don't know how Sara's going to deal with it if he ever decides to let the rest of us know. In fact, I can't believe she hasn't picked up on it, being the most perceptive of any of us as to what Gil's up to. She seems like she's more balanced out now since that case with the mental hospital, and lately she's been putting in less overtime than normal. Of course, when Gil decides to let the rest of us in the identity of his new girlfriend, I only hope he respects Sara enough not to flaunt it around the lab. God knows we don't need anymore chaos around here.
