~~~~~ A Day of Bad Luck and My Lucky Charm ~~~~~
Natsu groaned. Once he reached home, Lucy was happily welcomed by his parents (and utterly ignoring their son for a stranger, since all the attention was on her as if she was the one who was injured). Here he was, sitting in his room, flipping through channels as he listened to the laughs downstairs. Yeah, sure—Lucy wanted to go up now, but didn't want to be rude, so she promised she'll get up soon. But how long is soon?
There was a small knock on the door, and Natsu replied in a not amused tone "Come in," and it was Lucy, opening the door, giving Natsu an apologetic smile. In her hands was a tray full of food, probably to eat while they study.
"Sorry, Natsu. It's just that, your parents wanted to have a small chat with me. I didn't mean to take too long…" Lucy told him, placing the tray down the table on his room, and opened her bag after getting his.
"Small?" Natsu snapped at her. "How were 30 minutes a 'small chat'? They barely even noticed me that I was injured! Even my little sister who loves me so dearly, gave her full attention to you! And who are you to them? A stranger First Aid girl, who is supposed to care and give attention to the injured. Not get the attention of his parents!" He gave an annoyed look, jealousy written all over. Never in his life did his parents give him attention like that. As if she was the only one in the whole world! As if their world revolved around her and not him!
"Oh, come on, Natsu. Stop being such a baby." Lucy answered, rolling her eyes. "Anyway, just come here and study! I have to go by 7—and right now, it's 5."
. . .
"Ugh, please just give me a break!" Natsu groaned, making a big 'thump' when his head fell flat on the table. "I've been doing this, since, forever! I can't believe I'm even alive! Are you caring or killing me?!"
Lucy sighed. "I guess we could continue tomorrow." She replied, making Natsu mumble 'Halleluiah'. "I'll come here at 5 am," which Natsu replied with a horrified expression. Lucy began packing her things, and wearing her shoes. She said, "Bye," and left the room, with Natsu twitching.
He fell to his bed. "Why is my life so horrible?!" he yelled, a pillow covering his face. "I'm never ever going to survive this…"
. . .
"Natsu…?" Natsu's mom (A/N: Name her Grandine since I no like saying persons' mom :P) said. Natsu groaned and opened his eyes, giving her a 'what?!' expression. "Lucy is here to bring you to school! Isn't she sweet?"
Natsu bolted up, eyes wide. "What?! No, she is not! I can go to school myself! I can ask dad to come with me or something! Please, anything but that demonic angel!" he begged, practically kneeling in front of his mother, clasping his hands together.
"Natsu, I think this is a wonderful way to get your grades up, and for me, your father and sister to not worry how you're doing, since you would be alone." Grandine explained. "Besides, Lucy is a nice young lady. She's smart, nice and beautiful." She exaggerated. "If she asks for anything, grant it. You owe her for being there for you, you know? She's the one who brought you to the clinic!"
Natsu grumbled. He had no fight there. 'I guess I do owe her a bit…' he told himself. 'It's only a few months anyway! She'll be gone soon enough!' he reasoned. He sighed and gave Grandine a smile. "I guess you're right…"
"Good. Now, Lucy is waiting downstairs in the dining room." Grandine said, and left the room, not closing the door behind her.
Natsu slumped into his bed and groaned. "Well, I guess I just have to find out how to live with it… One month, Natsu… Around one month or two before she'll be gone. Then you can go back to your life. Your life. Come on, you can do this!" After his little pep talk, he rushed to the shower. A twinge of something else other than determination got to Natsu. What was it?
. . .
"I give up!" Natsu said, limping away to the front door of school, Lucy following behind. "You know what? I appreciate your help in studies and such, but this has crossed the line! Math?! Seriously?! Everybody smart knows I will never ace math. I cant understand a word you are saying!"
"Natsu, these are problems for a 7th grader. You're 1st year high school!" Lucy exclaimed behind him, holding his and her stuff with some difficulty. "All you have to do is just—"
"No. No, don't—don't complete that sentence. I know what you're going to say: base time height divided by 3 or something. I have to multiply the length and width or side to side if it's a square to get the base, then get the height of the prism or pyramid, and if it is a pyramid, I divide it by 3, because if I don't I only get the surrounding prism." I said, annoyed.
Lucy's eyes widened for reason I don't know. "Natsu, you finally got it right!" And it was my turn to get surprised. We both stared at each other in shock, then started to laugh a bit. The a bit more. Then more. We were both really, really strange right now. "Oh my gosh, I never thought you would get it through that thick head of yours!"
"I know me too—Wait. What do you mean 'that thick head of yours'?! Are you calling me stupid?!" I exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at her. My face filled with irritation once more.
"Hey, Natsu." A voice said behind me, catching my attention and making me turn around. It was Gray Fullbuster, someone I utterly did not want to meet this following month. "Who's the chick?"
