Hey guys! This chapter will be focused more on Ace and Blazes's friendship before delving deeper into the story where the Whitebeards will appear. This story will probably not be too long, maybe around 10 chapters or less, but I'm not sure. This chapter is significantly less than the previous one.
Disclaimer: I don't own neither Pokémon nor One Piece
It is currently January 21, a whole year after Blazes had met Ace on that fateful day when their friendship first started to take root. Now, that root had branches out into a beautiful friendship. While Blazes got along great with the crew, it was obvious that his relationship with Ace is on another level. While Blazes enjoyed curling up on crew members' legs, he always spent the night with Ace unless he feels like standing guard by the ship's helm. It was always Ace's shoes that were chewed on and Ace's food that was stolen, however, it was also always Blazes who would jump after Ace whenever he fell overboard, despite his obvious hate for the water, he would only take a bath when Ace tells him to and the respect they held for each other greatly differentiates from the relationship they have with the others.
Now, the two were stranded on a island, a rocky one filled with wind, water, and no solid ground. The rocks were somehow all near each other but not attached, the floating pieces of hard rocks and dirt simply floating near each other like clusters of islands on a map, each island only big enough to hold two people, the dirt and rocks of each island being loosely connected by the mud created by the raging waters. This cluster of islands shouldn't exist, it's very compound doesn't make sense and wouldn't have been possible if they weren't in the New World.
Ace and Blazes had gone off the ship to explore the "island" when they landed, only for the "island" to suddenly break apart and a storm to whip up, blowing the ship and the rest of the crew away, the crew had yelled and told them they would get to them as soon as the storm stopped, but that doesn't seem like it would happen anytime soon.
POV Switch...
Okay, okay Blazes, calm down, nothing bad is happening, you're on a island with no resources, no help, and absolutely no idea where the hell you are, but look on the bright side, at least you have the Fire-Human— who is asleep.
Why.
Why in the world was I paired up with a idiot with the worst timing in the world.
Arceus, why.
What did I do in my past life to deserve this?!
Why couldn't I have lived a happy, comfortable, normal Growlithe life of sleeping, eating, playing, and avoiding being captured? Maybe this is a dream, maybe it was Darkrai who paid me a visit, not Lugia, not Palkia, and definitely not Arceus, maybe Mew, 'cause this might be one of its schemes, but I am 99.9% sure it's Darkrai, which means I just need to wake up, uhhhhhh, how'd I wake myself up?
—Ow! Okay, the classic pinching myself doesn't work, not that it ever does, maybe biting myse—
Wait. What's that? A rock? A floating rock? That's flying towards me? Holy Mew—
Okay, not a dream, I'm definitely not dreaming, that rock felt too real to be a dream. Damn, are all rocks this hard? Even a floating one that is very light actually, now I know not to be hit by those rock throws the Geodudes like to hurl around to replace snowballs.
"Blazes? What the—" Ah, it seems the Fire-Human has risen from the dead, how convenient of you to do that right after a freakin asteroid just knocked my head around and give me a concussion.
I gave the human a bark, "we're stuck on a island with nothing to eat and only salt water around us, the others won't come until after the storm ended." Was what I was trying to convey, okay, it's sorta hard to fit that into one sound so I barked a bit more and growled in between.
He still didn't get it.
What the fuck?! Is he expecting me to write it down for him? Take a look around, I shouldn't need to explain.
Ace looked around a bit, "well, we won't survive this unless we can piece the pieces together, it seems, the storm only started after the islands broke apart after all."
Huh, I never thought of that, I guess Fire-Human is smarter than I give him credit for.
POV Switch...
And so they got to work, gathering and collecting vines and whatever they could find that can keep things together.
Ace was to tie the knots while Blazes had to make sure that he doesn't fall by pulling a vine tied to Ace' chest with his teeth as Ace tries to not get dangerously close to the water.
A particularly strong wave shook the tiny island that is made up of three smaller island and Blazes held back a yelp as he lost his footing and fell towards the ocean, Ace tried to catch him but puppy was falling to fast and his fingers could only brush his fur as Blazes fell past him and onto the ocean.
Ace cursed and immediately took the head of the vine that Blazes dropped and tried to throw it to him, Blazes, who couldn't swim strong enough against the waves could only futilely try to snatch the vine but with his head constantly being submerged, it wasn't working.
Finally, Ace took matters into his own hands and tied the vine to the unsteady landmass and jumped into the water, his strength being snapped by the sea as he tried to reach Blazes, as his consciousness faded, he saw the familiar orange blur that was the fire dog.
Blazes howled with rage at seeing the Fire-human harmed, he desperately tried to help the man, with another loud cry, he felt his body glow with his energy as it transferred towards the Fire-human. In his desperation to help his friend(trainer?), he had learned helping hand, something he never got a chance to learn in his previously lonesome life.
Ace woke a bit, although still feeling faint, he felt slightly better than he had ever since he had eaten his devil fruit. He found himself cloaked by a strange blue light and watched the glow trail to him from... Blazes! The poor puppy looked about to faint, he must've transferred his energy to Ace because he knew that Ace would have a better use than he would. Still, to be able to awaken a devil fruit user who was drowning in the ocean would've taken a lot of energy and willpower.
Then again, Blazes was too small to drag Ace back to land with what little energy he had so the best choice was to give the bigger Ace his remaining strength so he could save the both of them.
POV Switch...
Blazes woke to the smell of fire and salty wind, so similar to the first time he was transferred to this strange world.
He lifted his head, which was rested on the lap of the Fire-human—no, the Fire-Friend, the man was very close to him, but Blazes doesn't mind, not after he had jumped into Lugia's territory to save him despite his weakness to it.
After today, he couldn't find it in himself to mind having this man as a partner. Despite his flaws, his dense-ness, his sudden sleep-attacks, the man was loyal, and Blazes would return that same loyalty with all he could give, as the two snoozed under the stars, their crew approached the now peaceful and full-sized island and carried the two into their cabin.
Fin~ is the ending ok? Anyways, over 10 favs and over 20 follows after only 1 chapter?! I'm so proud of myself and of this story.
