"Stand up."
The sound of the class president rang clear as everyone stood up. Kai grinned at the front of the class as they bowed and greeted him. He waited until everyone sat down and clapped his hands.
"Okay! Morning to you too, everyone!" Kai's grin widened. "Well, now without further ado, let's just get on with the test results so we can finish the class today!"
This time the students all cheered happily. Kai nodded, quite happy that his students were at least still excited with the holiday, though...
"But." Kai sighed. "Sadly, like what I've told you before, anyone with lower than the average mark will have to take supplementary lessons…"
Now the students booed, Kai just scratched his head.
"Hey, quit with it. I have no choice too, y'know? If you want to protest then do it to the headmaster." He tapped the stack of papers beside him. "I'll call your name one by one. Remember, anyone below 70 will have to take the supplementary lessons with Kurotsuki-sensei, okay? I'm not going to announce who will take it because you're already grown up, so be responsible for your own grade."
"Yes, Fuduki-sensei~"
As Kai started to hand the test result to the student, he made sure to comment on their progress. He could only nod in sympathy to all the students who groaned when looking at their grade, though.
"Next, Shimotsuki…"
"Hai~"
Kai looked at the pale student who stood up with a pleasant smile on his face. The friend next to him huffed and buried his face back to his arm. Kai shook his head.
"And while you're at it, Mutsuki, you too."
"..."
The same student groaned but stood up. For all glare he gave to Kai as he trekked behind Shimotsuki, he looked more like pouting. The fact he walked right behind Shimotsuki who was a good 15 cm taller than him probably helped. Honestly, Kai just couldn't understand why everyone called Hajime a King. While Hajime indeed had a stern face and straightforward personality, he was one of those kids who had a late growth spurt. So Kai really couldn't see what made everyone called Hajime a King as Kai only saw Hajime as the smaller than the usual high school student who came from a famous family but was actually more like a cat in human form.
Like now. See, he pouted at Kai, looking betrayed as Kai called him way earlier than he supposed to.
"Don't glare at me. Actually, be thankful as since I call you earlier then you can sleep after this."
It seemed to appease Hajime as he finally stopped glaring Kai.
"Kai is too weak to Hajime~"
"That's Fuduki-sensei to you, Shimotsuki." Kai sighed and patted Shimotsuki—Shun—with the paper stack. "But anyway… good work for you, you both tied for the first place in our class."
"Eeh, just in our class?"
Kai gave him an unimpressed stare. "You can see that in the announcement later, you know."
"Muu.."
Kai picked their test results and gave it to Shun and Hajime. He petted both of their heads, making Shun smiled, satisfied, and Hajime closed his eyes in contentment. As they walked back to their chair, they actually looked proud.
"Aah, sensei, that's not fair!" one of the female students protested. "We never get the head pat!"
"I already told you the head pat is only for the ones getting high grades, right?" Kai tsked but grinned. "If you manage to get one for the next test, I will give you head pats. Ah, but only for the first ten, okay?"
"Sensei, that's not fair. It means there just seven spots for the rest of us!" another student protested. "Mutsuki, Shimotsuki, and Yayoi will definitely get it."
"... that's fair. Fine, just for this class I will make it 13. But." Kai looked at all of them seriously. "Don't tell the other classes, okay? I don't want anyone to hound me down to get head pats…"
"Okay, sensei!"
"Good. Let's continue!"
Kai continued calling the student one by one. Hajime and Shun were already back to their desks, Hajime napped while Shun read a book. Kai perked up when he looked at the next paper.
"Yayoi!"
"Yes~"
The student named Yayoi walked to Kai confidently. He had this knowing grin as he accepted his paper.
"Congrats, you got the second highest mark." Kai petted his head. "But please do something to your Home Economic class, okay? You and Shimotsuki both, Sera-sensei already commented on it."
He winced but laughed. "No promise, sensei.."
"At least don't burn a butter roll again, okay?" Kai laughed.
"Yes~"
Once everyone had their paper, Kai dismissed the class early since it was the last class and they were supposed to just review the lessons.
"The class is dismissed, but stay quiet and in your class until the bell rings, okay?"
"Yes, sensei! Stand up!"

"Oi, Fuduki. Your minions are here to pick you up!"
"Wha—oh, them."
He was confused at first, but he laughed upon seeing Hajime, Shun, and Haru—Yayoi—at the teacher's room door. He hurriedly tid up his space and nodded to Shiki.
"I'll go back first, Shiki-san. Good work today!"
Shiki just shooed him before going back to finish his own work. Shun immediately reached for Kai's arm and hugged it close. Hajime also went close, demanding more pats which Kai gave him.
"Honestly, you know I am supposed to maintain some distance to you all, right?" Kai asked rhetorically. "We're still a student and teacher here."
"Don't care. After class ends, Sensei is Kai." Haru laughed and nudged Kai. "My mom made cookies for us, let's go to my house. We need to plan the holiday."
"Oh, sure then." Kai nodded. "Aah, you'll be second-year huh. Time sure flies quickly."
"You talk like an old man," Hajime commented.
"Hush." Kai petted Hajime, making him purr. "Anyway, are we going to Haru's house by ourselves or..?"
"With Sakaki-san!" Shun said. "He's already waiting~"
Like what Shun said, his personal butler was already waiting in front of the school's gate. Sakaki bowed to them and opened the door. Kai nudged Hajime so he sat at the back, while Kai himself took the passenger seat in the front.
"So Kai, where are we going this holiday?"
They met accidentally. They were the students in Tsukino Gakuen, those three were the elementary school when Kai was in his last year of middle school. He found the three of them wandering in the middle school building, apparently getting lost—which was normal considering their school had all the buildings for elementary, middle, and high school together in one place. Kai actually only escorted them back to the elementary school building, but those three got attached to him. Before he knew it, Kai already had three little boys shadowing his every step.
It didn't change even when Kai graduated and moved to high school. If anything he got even closer to the three of them, to the point of knowing their entire families as apparently Hajime, Shun, and Haru never shut up about this kind, tall senpai they met at the school.
They did throw a tantrum when Kai graduated from high school and planned to go into a university outside Tokyo. But Kai promised them he would visit them every week if he was not busy and that he would come back to Tokyo after he was done with university.
He must admit it was very satisfying when he saw their surprised face when he came to the high school as a new teacher. They all tackled him in a tight hug after class ended and they spent some time in Kai's apartment just talking about their days.
Kai looked at those three from the front mirror. Puberty was very kind to them. Haru and Shun got a nice growth spurt—though Hajime… they would have to wait and see. They also lost most of their baby fat, their face already looked more mature. Kai was not surprised to see Haru already had to wear eyeglasses though.
Their personalities, though, didn't change a bit.
Shun was still the same, fawning over Hajime. Haru still loved to poke fun at Hajime. Hajime.. Well, he was still like a cat.
"Kaiii, my parents said they want to meet you too!" Shun said. "Let's go to Kyoto too!"
"Sure, sure. We'll put that in the list."
"Ah, while we are still in Kyoto, can we go see Fushimi Inari temple?"
"Already on it." Kai laughed. "I know you will ask for that."
Haru grinned brightly. "Thanks!"
Kai smiled fondly as they talked again excitedly among themselves—though Hajime already curled up on Haru's lap, napping with his face smushed on Haru's neck. Aah, he really missed this. He was so glad he came home.

"Haru-kun, Hajime-kun, Shun-kun, Kai-kun, time for dinner!"
Mrs. Yayoi blinked when there was no response from her son's room. Curiously she climbed to the second floor, then knocked at Haru's door.
"Haru-kun?"
Still no response. She tried to open the door slowly. The room was dark, so she went ahead and turned on the lamp.
"...ara."
On Haru's bed, four people curled up on it in a cuddle pile. Kai was in the middle, Shun on his left, curled up beside him and using his arms as a pillow. Haru on the other side, pressing close to Kai with Kai's other arm circled Haru's waist loosely. Hajime was on top of Kai, head pressed on Kai's chest and curled up like a kitten. Shun's hand on Hajime's waist while Hajime held Haru's hand. All four of them were sleeping deeply.
"...My~"
Mrs. Yayoi giggled, then ran back downstairs to take her phone. She sneakily took a picture.
Another one to fill her album~
