Her name was Alyssa.

She was my friend,

Even to her bitter end.

She was right,

I am sad tonight

My tears are falling

I miss her sweet voice calling

We were like sisters, Alyssa and I,

We were best friends, we didn't have to try.

A beautiful angel child carved from stone

Revels a town with a saddened tone.

Her headstone is as black as night

I believe it fits, it is right

At school all my friends stare

And the teacher's words are just empty air.

I read Alyssa's poem over and over again

So much that my heart knows it from start to end.

What kind of man would do that?

He killed his own daughter, treated her like a rat.

Her mother is gone, to where we know not

But personally, I hope it is somewhere very hot.

I used to ask my Daddy why

My best friend Alyssa lied.

Now I know the terrible secret

That Alyssa fought so hard not to keep it.

No longer does she lie in school

And no more bruises to cover so cruel.

Alyssa lies with Lord Jesus Christ

And I know that He'll love her as is right.

There was nothing anyone would do,

So we lost Alyssa so sweet and true.
