Two desks were pushed together front-to-front. Yugi Muto, and Joey Wheeler were sitting across from each other as they played a game of cards. Tyra McCain was standing next to Tea Gardener, along with their fellow classmates.
"Hey Joey! Earth to Joey!" Yugi calls, trying to get his attention. Tyra reaches out and takes his shoulder, shaking him a little.
"Joey!"
"Hey, you in there? It's your turn!"
Joey held his free hand above his cards, debating which card to play. "Hmmm."
Tristan Taylor affectionately grabs Joey in a half hearted neck lock, and looks over his shoulder to the cards. "Awww, isn't he cute when he's thinking?"
"He-hey Tristan, Yugi here's teachin me how to play Duel Monsters."
Tristan blinked a little confused. "Drooling Monsters?"
"Duel Monsters, ya nimrod!" Joey pushes Tristan away, and the tall teen stands back to stand next to Tea and Tyra.
"Sheesh!" Tristan grumbled, and Tyra laughs.
"They've been at it for hours." Tea said. "Joey's starting to get the hang of the game, but Yugi's like an expert!"
"Ok Yugi, it's time to duel!" Joey slaps down a card on the desk.
"See, each card has an attack number and a defense number. First player to eliminate their opponent's life points, wins the duel." Tea explained the game.
Tyra nods. "Yugi has this duel in the bag!"
Joey give Tyra a look. "Hey, be possitive!"
Tyra walks over to Yugi, and wraps her around his neck affectionately. "Ok, I'm possitive that Yugi's gonna win!" She smiles, making Yugi blush and sweat drop.
An irritated look crossed Joey's face. "No fair!" He folds his arms and leans backwards. "Pretty good move, huh Yugi?"
Yugi smiles. "Yep. Pret-ty good move, but not, good e-nough!" He plays a card. Blackland Fire Dragon.
"Whoa!" Tyra gasps, as Joey twitches and drops his cards.
"What!? Thanks a lot! A card that powerful totally wipes me out!"
"Whoa, you stink that this game, Joey!" Tristan said as Joey leans back in his chair looking disgruntled.
"Ahh, you did fine Joey." Yugi assured. "I just have better cards. See my grandpa owns a game shop, and I get all the best cards from him."
Joey slams his hands down on the desk and stands up, leaning over it. "You own your own game shop? What are we waitin for? Let's go!"
"Ok." Yugi agrees. "Maybe I can even get my grandpa to show us, this super rare card he's got."
XxXxXxXx
Later, the group of friends walk towards Yugi's. The bell above the door jingles as the front door opens. "Grandpa, I'm home!" Yugi smiles, he and his friends walk towards the corner in the back of the shop.
"And I see you've brought company!" Mr. Muto smiles as Joey, Tristan, Tea and Tyra stood behind Yugi.
"Grandps, could you show my friends your awesome, super-rare card?" Yugi asked.
"Rare card?" Yugi's grandfather repeated. "My special card?" He rubs his chin. "Hmmm."
Yugi claps his hands together. "Please, please!"
Joey bows. "Pretty please!"
"Hmm, haha! How can I refuse? You kids are in for a treat. I don't take this card out too often." Mr. Muto pulls out a small wooden box from behind the counter. "Ready? Here it is - Blue Eyes White Dragon, so rare, so powerful, I never let it leave my hands."
"Wow." Tyra breathed.
"A-awesome." Joey added.
"Cool." Tea finished.
Tristan plucks the card out of Mr. Muto's hand and flaps it around. "Hmmm, doesn't look so special to me."
Mr. Muto's jaw drops as Yugi, Joey, Tea, and Tyra look at Tristan with embarrassed disbelief, Yugi's grandfather snatches it back.
"Tristan, be careful with that!" Tyra scolded.
"Ahh! This card - is priceless! There's only four of them in all the world!" Mr. Muto told Tristan.
"Speakin a priceless, I'm ready to trade!" Joey smiles.
"Not for this card!" Mr. Muto held his treasure close to his chest.
"Huh? I didn't mean that card." Joey said. "I meant show me some other cool cards to get me started."
Tyra shook her head. "Nice save, slick." No sooner had she said that, the bell above the door jingles again.
"Hello, can I help you?" Mr. Muto greets.
It's Seto Kaiba. "If you can't, it certainly wouldn't surprise me."
"Seto Kaiba!?" Yugi gasped in surprise.
"Kaiba?" Joey was just as surprised.
"Doesn't he have a big fancy company to run?" Tristan asked. "What's he doing down here?"
"What are you doing here with us common folk?" Tyra growls at Kaiba. "Get lost on your way to the office?"
Kaiba gives her a glare.
"I suggest that you stay out of this McCain." Kaiba told her, he turned his back to her, and Tyra made a move to slug him with her fist, but Tristan grabbed her and pulled her back.
"Hey, are into Duel Monsters too?" Joey asks Kaiba. "This is perfect. Maybe we could duel together sometime."
"Me? Duel you?" Kaiba asked. "I would have a more challenge playing Solitaire."
"What?" Joey asked.
"I am the number one ranked duelist in the country and the favorite to win the Duelist Monsters championship." Kaiba boasted. "Heh, you wouldn't last two minutes in a duel against me."
"Whatever possessed you to even date him?" Tristan asked Tyra, who was now standing next to him, with her arms folded.
"I don't know." She grumped. "It was all my aunt's idea." In truth, she never stopped caring for him.
"Oooh, I'm shakin!" Joey had his fists ready as he faced Kaiba. "Maybe you'd like to settle this with fists instead a cards!"
Yugi quickly runs in between the two. "Whoa! Take it easy Joey!"
"But Yugi, he's askin for it." Joey started.
Kaiba ignores him. "Now, does this shop have any worthwhile cards or not?" He then sees the Blue-Eyes White Dragon card sitting in it's box on the counter. He shoves Yugi into Joey, ignoring their protests.
"Can it be, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, in a dump like this?" Kaiba asked in astonishment. "It is, the card that I've been searching for!"
Kaiba had his hand poised over the card. But Mr. Muto claps the lid on the box, breaking the tension.
"Well enough window shopping. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
Kaiba quickly recovers, and of course is not happy as he lifts his briefcase and slams it down on the counter, throughfuly shocking the elder. Kaiba opens the case and turns flips it around. "Listen to me, old man. Gimme your Blue-Eyes White Dragon and I'll trade you all of these!"
"Wow!" Tyra breathed as she looked what was inside the briefcase. A lot of powerful looking cards are in the briefcase.
"Whoa!" Yugi, Tea, Tristan, and Joey gasp.
"Ah nice. But no thanks." Mr. Muto denied the trade.
"Huh?" The teens, minus Kaiba.
"Ugh, fine. If you won't trade me, maybe you'll sell it. Name your price, I can pay anything you ask."
"I'm sure you could." Mr. Muto said. "But this card is worth more to me then you could offer, not because of power, or because it's so rare, but because of what it means to me. This card was given to me by a dear friend. So I treasure this card as I do that friend. So parting with it, is completely out of the question!"
"Excuse me?"
"You'd feel the same, even if were a common card, right Grandpa?" Yugi asked.
"Exactly! You see, this precious card has bonded with my heart."
"Fine! I've heard enough of your nonsense!" Kaiba slams down the lid of the case, before grabbing it and leaving. "Senile old fool." He sneers as he walks out.
XxXxXxXx
Tyra ran out of the game shop, just as Kaiba threw his briefcase into the waiting limo.
"Seto!" She calls, and he turns to her.
"What do you want?"
"How can you demand that of Yugi's grandfather?" She asked, walking over to him. "This is low, even for you."
Kaiba folded his arms, smirking at her. "I'm not like the other idiots, who are demanding for returns. We've been over for months now." He climbs into the limo, and rolls down the window. "Just be greatful that we still talk." With that he motioned for the driver to leave.
Tyra watched as the limo drove off. "I smell trouble."

After school the following day, the gang head to Yugi's shop.
"Man, hope he has some cool cards today!" Joey smiled as they walked.
"Me too!" Yugi agreed.
They walk up to the shop, and Yugi frowns as the door is unlocked, and he falls into the shop and lands on the floor with a yelp. Tyra and Tea knelt down next to him.
"Ok grandps, I'm back to get more cards!" Joey calls. "Hey! Hey gramps!" He calls as both girls help Yugi back to his feet.
"Where's your grandpa Yugi?" Tyra asked with a frown, but he shakes his head.
"I don't know, he didn't have anything to do today." Yugi walked towards the counter. "Grandpa! I'm home!"
"Hmmm." Tyra hummed. "He wouldn't." She muttered to herself as she thought of Kaiba.
"Maybe he ... went out?" Tea offered.
"Without locking the door, and not leaving a note for Yugi?" Tyra asked. "I smell something."
Joey sniffed the air. "You're right." He pointed at Tristan. "It was him!" He accused.
"Hey!" Tristan easily got Joey into a headlock.
"Not that kinda smell, lunkhead!" Tyra yelled at Joey, her hands on her hips as she gave him a look.
The phone rang, and Yugi hurried over to it. "Hello, Game Shop." Behind him, Joey was now freed of Tristan's headlock as the blonde rubbed his neck. "Kaiba!?" Yugi gasped in shock.
"I knew I smelt something!" Tyra sneered.
"Kaiba, what have you done?! Kaiba!" Yugi yelled into the phone.
XxXxXxX
It was getting close to dusk when the gang raced into KaibaCorp, they ran to the elevator and arrive at the floor they want. When the doors open the first thing they see is Yugi's grandfather lying on the floor. Both Tea, and Tyra gasp as Yugi runs over to his grandfather.
"Grandpa! Grandpa, a -are you ok?" Yugi asks him with concern and worry.
Mr. Muto props himself up on an elbow. "Yugi. I failed. I wanted to teach Kaiba a lesson about the heart of the cards. But I lost. Ugh."
"Grandpa!"
Kaiba suddenly appears in the entrance of a doorway, across the elevator. Half silhouetted in bright white light. "How's the old man feeling, hm?"
"Kaiba! You sleaze! What have you done to him?!" Joey demanded pointing at him.
"We had a duel, that's all. with each of us putting up our most valuable card as a prize. But I guess playing against a champion like myself was just too much for the old man."
Tea points at him. "Kaiba, you should be ashamed of yourself!"
Kaiba shows them the Blue Eyes White Dragon card. "It was fair. And look at the sweet prize I won?" He then rips the card in two. Yugi, and his friends gasp in horror, But Yugi's the most deveasted of all.
"Grandpa's most treasured card!"
"Seto!" Tyra runs over to him, shoving him hard in the chest. "This is hitting way below the belt, even for you!" She tries to shove him again, but he grabs both her wrists.
"Save your breath for someone who cares." He shoves her backwards, and she cries as she falls backwards, but Tristan rushes forward to catch her.
"Tyra, your ex is a hard core sleaze ball!" Tea yelled.
"Ah! My Blue Eyes White Dragon! M- my treasure!" Mr. Muto cried.
"Grandpa, hold on!" Yugi cried, and the elder raises a shaking hand.
"Yugi! Here! Take this!"
"Huh? Grandpa!" Yugi's confused.
"I built this deck, I put my soul into these cards! And I thought you everything I know Yugi. Take them! Take my cards and teach this spoiled brat respect! Teach Kaiba respect for the Heart Of The Cards."
"But Grandpa, you need help, I've got to get you to a doctor!"-
"Sounds like an excuse." Kaiba said. "Your friends can care for your grandfather, while you duel against me! Unless your afraid."
Yugi stares Kaiba down, on the verge of tears completely terrified and on the verge of tears.
Tyra ran past them, and grabbed the two rip pieces of of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, she hurried back over to her friends.
"Take him down Yugi!"
Yugi turns to him surprised.
"We can take care a your grandpa." Joey said. "While you take care of Kaiba! That rich spoiled brat what a real duel's all about!"
"Yeah!" Tyra agreed.
"For your grandpa, Yugi!" Tea gave a firm nod.
"I don't know." Yugi said, not feeling confident.
"Trust me; you're, like, the best player I've ever seen, and you've got the Millennium Puzzle!" Joey encouraged. "You can do this Yugi! I know ya can!"
Yugi nods, and accepts his grandfather's deck. Tea then pulls out a black marker.
"Everyone, put your hands together, and I'll mark us with a special sign." Then then draws a smiley face across the backs of their five hands. The three boys are are utterly nonplussed with the back of their hands.
"What gives Tea?" Joey asks.
"It's a symbol of our friendship. so when Yugi is dueling, no matter how rough it gets, he'll know he's not alone - we're all in this together!" Tea answered firmly with confidence.
XxXxXxXx
The ambulance arrives and Tristan carries Mr. Muto on his back with Joey, Tea, and Tyra following. When they stop, Tea turns to Joey.
"Joey, Tristan, Trya, and I will take Yugi's grandpa to the hospital. Why don't you get back in there and cheer on Yugi?"
Joey nods firmly. "Ok! Take good care of im Tea!"
The ambulance soon left, and Joey raced back inside.
XxXxXxXx
An hour or three later, at the hospital, Mr. Muto suddenly opens his eyes. "Ah?"
"Grandpa's awake!" Tea told Tristan and Tyra who were standing behind her, said.
"Yugi won." Mr. Muto told them.
XxXxXxXxX
Later that night, Tyra walked down a sidewalk through a very nice subdivision. Sighing she walked over to a red brick home that has a nice car sitting in the driveway with the garage open.
Tyra walks into the garage, then opens the door that leads into the house. "Aunt Belle! I'm home!" She calls as she closes the door behind her.
A woman walks around the hall. "Hi sweaty." She walks over to her. "How are you?" She takes links her arm through Tyra's and leads her further into the living room. "I heard what Seto did today. Are you alright?"
"I still can't believe he would sink that low." Tyra said as she laid down on the couch, and rested her head on her aunt's lap. "The good news is that Mr. Muto is going to be ok!"
Mrs. McCain smiles. "That is good news."
