Poppy of Love
Chapter Two ~ Of Protection details, found keys, and car crashes
~(^.^)~
Poppy's P.O.V.
I opened my door, and threw my coat on the coat rack. Because of Hotch's orders for me not to be left by myself till Ashton was found Spencer had come back to my apartment with me for protection. He was currently walking around the whole apartment making sure it was safe. I rolled my eyes and turned the T.V. on as Spencer made his way back into the living room.
"Go ahead and sit down I'm going to make something to eat. You want anything?" I asked, walking into the kitchen.
"No," He replied, sitting down.
I pulled open the fridge and looked in. What to get to eat? Hmh. Ah cereal. I pulled the jug of milk out grabbed a bowl and a box of captain crunch. I walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. Spencer's phone rang and he glanced down at it. Rossi. Hmh. He put the phone to his ear and walked into the kitchen. When he was done he walked back into the living room.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"Someone saw Ashton near you're car earlier today. Then they said that they saw him go into the building across the street, and he didn't come back out until almost two hours later," Spencer replied. I shook my head and took a bite of cereal.
"How are you so calm?" Spencer asked.
"Because I know him... or I thought I knew him. Right now he's just toying with me, trying to freak me out. He's not ready to actually try anything...yet. I refuse to let him make me nervous," I mumbled, getting up and putting my bowl in the sink.
"Night," I said. I left him sitting on the couch reading a book.
I walked into my room. I put my P.J.'s on and sat on my bed. I can't believe Ashton blew up my car. I'll kill him, when I see him. Why did Hotch have Spencer and Morgan watch me? Not that I mind. It's nice having them hanging around… I guess, but I've always taken care of myself. I guess I'll just have to get used to them hanging around watching over me. I mean they could have easily said no to watching me. I looked out my window, and could just barely see Morgan sitting in his car outside my apartment. I sighed and grabbed my book. I could hear the T.V. in the living room. I opened my book and started reading. I flipped the page and a picture of me, and Ashton in uniform fell out. How'd that get there? I picked it up and flipped it over. My old house key was taped to the back of the picture.
What the hell! How... how did Ashton get this here? He probably got a copy of my apartment key when I left it on my desk. He's just trying to freak me out by letting me know he could get into my apartment. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath trying to calm down. He's just trying to freak me out... he's just trying to freak me out. And damn it all to hell if he hadn't of succeed in freaking me out. I slammed my book closed and threw it down onto the bed. I took the picture and raced out into the living room...

Spencer's P.O.V.
Poppy had gone into her room a few minutes ago and I was still sitting on the couch reading a book that Poppy had given to me to read. It was some book about a girl who gets stuck in a virtual reality video game and has to win the game in order to get out of it. So far it was a pretty good book. I was half way through the book when Poppy came racing out of her room.
"What's wrong?" I asked looking up at her.
"This," She stated, shoving a picture at me. I looked down at it. It was of her, and Ashton.
"So?" I asked.
"It was in my book, and I didn't put it there. Look at the back," She explained. I flipped it over. There was a key taped to the back.
"It's my missing keys, I'd left my keys on my desk the other day, when we left and that key was on my key chain at the time but when we got back it wasn't on my key chain. I didn't really think much of it at the time, but now... I mean that means he was in the office the other day," She said.
But how did he get into the office? I pulled out my phone, and called Rossi. I moved into the kitchen and Poppy sat down on the couch. When I was done talking to Rossi, I went back into the living room, and sat down next to Poppy. She was staring blankly at the T.V. And I couldn't help but feel bad for her. She moved here to get away from this man, and he follows her here. I could see tears forming in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. I wasn't really sure what to do, J.J. Is better at these kinds of things than I am. I wonder if I should call her and ask her to come over? I'm sure Poppy would love to meet J.J.
"You okay?" I asked hesitantly.
"Yeah. I'm fine," she mumbled.
She glanced over at me for a second, tears in her eyes, then before I could ask her if she'd like to meet J.J. She quickly stood up and walked back into her room. I sighed and shook my head. It's probably for the best, it is late after all and J.J.'s probably in bed by now. I sighed again and sat down on the couch, and closed my eyes...

(The next day)
I was in the kitchen trying to find the bowls. Where does she keep them? I pulled open a cabinet. There were dozens of cups, and behind the cups where the bowls. Of course she practically hide's the bowls. I grabbed a bowl and poured some cereal into the bowl and sat down at the table. Poppy was still sleeping. It was only 9:00 and we go to work at 10:30. We still have an hour and a half.
"Good morning," Poppy exclaimed, walking into the kitchen.
"Morning," I said, taking a bite of cereal. Poppy looked out at the balcony.
"Hm. Morgan's car isn't out there. Where'd he go?" I stood up and looked outside.
"Not sure. Didn't even know he left," I replied, sitting down.
Poppy shrugged her shoulders and went into the bathroom. I heard the shower turn on, so I decided to read the book she lent me while I waited for her. When she finally came out it was 10.
"Okay ready to go," poppy said. I grabbed my gun off the coffee table.
"Let's go," I exclaimed, opening the door. She grabbed her keys and followed me out the door...

Hotch, Rossi, Morgan, Poppy, and I were all sitting around the bull pen going over files again for what felt like the hundredth time. J.J. Unfortunately wasn't here, she'd called Hotch this morning stating that she'd caught the flew and Hotch told her to just stay home and rest till she was better.
"So where was the second body found?" Morgan asked.
"In a park, near Poppy's apartment," Rossi replied.
"Great, more good news," Poppy muttered, sighing.
"Let me see that picture," Hotch requested.
Poppy pulled the picture out of her bag and handed it to Hotch. Hotch flipped the picture over and looked at the key, then flipped it back over to look at the picture. He stared at it for a few moments then he handed it back to Poppy. Hotch and Rossi started talking, and I zoned out. I was staring at a page in Ashton's file hoping to find something in the file. But I couldn't find anything. I looked up at Poppy and noticed that she was staring at the key on the picture.
She looked up at me and smiled, and my stomach did a small flip at the sight. Her smile was actually really pretty. Actually to be honest she just looked really pretty in general. Her hair framed her face perfectly, and her hazel eyes were just stunning you could almost get lost in them. I gave her a small smile back in return, then glanced back down at the file in my hands. I could feel a slight blush rising up to my face at my thoughts. What is wrong with me, we work together? And I highly doubt she would ever think about me like that! I sighed, and attempted to focus on the file in my hand, but every time Poppy even moved the slightest bit I couldn't help but glance up at her. Today is going to be a long day...

(Three days later)
Poppy's P.O.V.
It was getting frustrating. There'd been two more murder's, and we were nowhere near finding Ashton. I was getting tenser every day that went by. I'd met Garcia two days ago when Spencer and I went to talk to her about the case. Despite her amazing computer abilities even she was having trouble tracking Ashton down. I was currently sitting on my bed, pulling my shoes on, and attempting to brush my hair at the same time. I'd woken up late because my alarm didn't go off. Spencer had assured me that it was fine and we wouldn't be late. He even said we still had time to eat breakfast, but I still wanted to get ready quickly. I jumped up off my bed, set my hair brush down on the stand, and walked out into the living room. Spencer was sitting at the kitchen table reading a completely different book than he'd been reading last night. I swear that boy can read books faster than anyone I've ever known.
He looked up at me and said, "Hungry?"
I nodded my head and sat down at the table. Spencer got up and grabbed a bowl. He poured cereal, and milk into the bowl, and handed it to me.
"Thanks," I said.
I picked up a spoon and started eating. We sat there in silence for a few minutes as I quickly ate my cereal and he read his book. When I finished my cereal I glanced down at my watch. It still said 9:05, which can't be right.
"What time is it?" I asked. Spencer looked down at his watch.
"10:15, Time to go," He exclaimed, standing up.
"Damn the battery's dead," I mumbled, pulling my watch off my wrist and setting it down on the table. I followed Spencer out to the car. I really need to get a new car. I sat down in the passenger seat, and buckled my seat belt.

Spencer's P.O.V.
I waited for Poppy to buckle her seat belt, then I pulled out of the parking spot. Poppy stared out the window the whole ride. I pulled up at a red light. When the light turned green I drove forward. I was half way through the light when a car ran its red light and slammed into the side of my car. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again the car was lying on its side. I quickly glanced down at Poppy, and immediately noticed a huge gash running across her right eye. It looked like her head had smashed into the window. There was blood running down her face. I felt my heart race at the sight of the blood on her face. Poppy wasn't moving at all and for a second I thought she might be dead, so I reached over and gently shook her.
"Poppy, are you okay?" I asked.
She groaned but didn't open her eyes, and I sighed in relief. I unbuckled my seat belt and flopped down onto the ground. Ow! I put my hand under Poppy and unbuckled her seat belt, and she fell down on top of me. I lifted her up set her on her side and pulled my jacket off and set it over the cut. I glanced out the window and noticed a bunch of people surrounding the car. Someone pulled opened the hatch on the back of the car, and a man climbed in and helped me carry Poppy out of the car. An ambulance had already arrived, so the second we set Poppy down on the ground a woman ran up to me and started examining Poppy.
After a few minutes of the woman assessing mine and Poppy's injuries we were both loaded up into the ambulance. Poppy woke up about half way to the hospital. She freaked out at first but I managed to help calm her down. When we got to the hospital the doctor's looked both of us over. I had a mild concussion and several bruised ribs, while Poppy had to get twenty stitches and the doctor informed her that her arm was sprained. The doctor was just finishing up with Poppy when Morgan ran in with Garcia right behind him.
"Are you guys okay?" Garcia asked, looking us both over.
"I'm fine Poppy's arm is sprained and she has a gash on her head, and I have a mild concussion," I replied, putting an ice pack on my head.
"What happened?" Morgan asked.
"We were on our way to work and some guy ran a red light," I explained.
"How much you wanna bet it was Ashton," Morgan stated.
"I wouldn't put it past him." I turned my head towards the voice. Poppy was leaning on the wall.
"You should be resting," Morgan stated.
"I'm fine... just a little dizzy," Poppy said.
She took a step forward and almost fell down. But Morgan caught her. I walked over and helped Morgan get her back to her room.

(The Next Day)
I looked out the window of Poppy's apartment. Morgan was sitting in his car. Poppy was lying down in her room. Rossi had questioned the witness's at the accident, and they all said the car that hit us was a black Toyota. But no one saw the license plate. I sighed and sat down on the couch. I hope Poppy's okay, she seemed a little out of it. I can't blame her though. It's not every day you're head practically goes through a car window. I couldn't get the image of her dangling from her seat blood running down her face out of my mind. She just looked so small and fragile in that moment. I grabbed my book and started reading in a vain attempt to distract myself...
