Part Two:

The sun shined across the horizon, Ireland yawned. She slowly stood to her feet and walked into her brother's room. He was still fast asleep. She walked to him and shook him awake. "Hmm?" He quietly woke up. "I'm leaving. If England asks, I'm at the western coast," Ireland smiled bending down kissing a farewell on his forehead. North smiles and turns. Ireland sighs walking out of his room. Was she really going to go through this? She shook her head. "I cannot be doubting myself now. I'm going to do this," She silently whispered to herself. Heading to the restroom, she started to comb her hair. Once she finished combing her long ginger hair, she tied it up into a bun. She wore her best dress and shoes. Ireland heard a blare of a boat's horn. "You're going to be late!" North shouted. "I know!" Ireland shouted running out of the house. "Bye! Take care!" North shouted as his sister ran. Ireland looked back waving. Ireland was ready to leave the island. She was healthy and had all her documents in checked, none were expired, because of this she was able to go onto the boat quickly without any issues. She settled in a room with other Irish woman. The blare of the horn signal their departure. Ireland felt the boat move. "Please do not let this be a worthless trip," Ireland whispered.

The boat swayed too much. Ireland could not get in a comfortable position to sleep. "Ma, I'm feeling sick," a young child complains. "We're almost there. Please do not fret," the mother said. Ireland sighs. Soon, the child could be heard puking. Ireland stood up and helped the mother clean the throw up. "Maybe we should get the children to run around, they will not feel the swaying of the boat then," Ireland spoke loudly. The children quickly rose to their feet, they were ready to cause trouble. "Will it really?" Another mother asked. "I am sure," Ireland smiled. The mothers held their children hands as they walked out of the room. "You better be right or else we're in huge trouble," a tall lanky older woman spoke. "Trust me." Ireland walked out the room for the first time of the trip. The ocean was beautiful but felt as it was better to see it from the coast of Ireland. She leaned forward putting her elbows on the boat. "Hello," a young man voice spoke. Ireland turned to see the man was talking to her. "Oh, hello," Ireland smiled, standing up. "The ocean is beautiful isn't," the man smiled. "Indeed it is, though I find it viewed better on the coast," Ireland stated. "Ah, you're right. I wish I didn't have to leave Ireland. Once the famine is gone, I am going back." Ireland smiled. "And you?" "Oh, I'm only visiting someone," Ireland looked away from the man. "Who may it be?" "A friend of my brothers." The man nodded. "Names Seán Ó Ceallacháin." "Um, my name is Brigid Kirkland," Ireland quickly made up a name. "Ah, nice name," Seán laughed. Ireland laughed along. "Are you married? I see a lack of ring." "No and I do not intend to get married as my family does not want me to be married," Ireland lied. How can she explain that she's immortal? "Really?" Seán seemed surprised. "I have one older brother and three younger brothers so they can pass down the name." They both fell silent. "Look! It's America!" Someone yelled. Ireland and Seán ran to the front of the boat. The person was right. Land could be seen. Everyone cheered. The mother from earlier walked up to Ireland. "You were right, my child seems to be doing better." "That's good. It'll be a shame if the sea was the cause for your daughter to not enter the country," Ireland smiled. The boat landed on an island and everyone stepped off. This was Ellis Island.

Ireland and Seán both walked into the immigration building where they left their luggage and walked into an inspection booth. Ireland walked into a room where doctor checked for any signs of illnesses. In the next room over, she could hear shouting. "I am not sick! I am not!" A man shouted. "You are! Move over here!" More yelling ensued. "Do not fret. You're healthy," the doctor smiled. Ireland nodded walking out of the room. Ireland proceeded to talk to a officer. "Name and nationality." "Brigid, U.K." "Why are you here?" "I am visiting a friend." "Their name and address." "Alfred F. Jones 983 Shield Avenue." Ireland eas grateful she remembered where America lived. She was allowed to pass through. She retrieved her luggage and wait for Seán. Soon, he comes walking out as well. "Hello again," he laughed. Ireland rolled her eyes and they continued to walk out of the building. They made many jokes and were happy. Then, a man in a uniform stopped them. "You," the man pointed at Seán," need to come with me." "What for?" Before a response could be given, another uniformed man grabbed Seán and dragged him to a car. "Hey! Stop, what are you doing?!" Ireland shouted. "None of your business." The car drove off and Ireland gave chase. Luckily for her, she has the stamina and endurance to chase the car. She had to push pass many people. "Brigid! Stop chasing the car!" "No! Where are they taking you?!" "I don't know!" The car halted immediately. "Hey girl, stop chasing us! You don't want to be arrested do you?" Ireland could only heavily breathe. "Brigid, leave it be," Seán said and sat down. Ireland nodded and quietly left. She felt useless now. She lost the only friend she made so far.

The city was large! Ireland sighed as she walked around. Ireland soon saw a park. "Oh, I can rest under the tree," Ireland thought, smiling. She look side to side to make sure if no automobiles were crossing. Once she determined that it was to cross, she started walking. BEEP! Ireland jumped and turned her head to see a man in an automobile. "Get the hell out of the way!" The man shouted. Ireland turned and ran out of the road. Ireland huffed and walked to the tree. She sat down and closed her eye. She now wished she was back in Ireland. "Hello pretty lady~." Ireland opened her eyes to see two men in front of her. "What do you want?" Ireland quickly got onto her feet. "She's not married. There's no ring." She heard one of the man whisper. "Come with us. It'll be so much fun~." Ireland now knew what these man wanted. "No, stay the hell away from me," Ireland hissed. "You're coming with us!" The second man yelled grabbing her. Ireland quickly switched from her stubborn ladylike persona to her warrior persona. She punched the man in the face and pushed him away from her. "You fucking bitch!" The man shouted. "Why do you Irish ladies have to be so harsh?!" The two man cornered her at the tree. If she was back in Ireland with her regular outfit she could've climbed the tree but with this dress it would be impossible. "Hey! Leave her alone!" Another man yelled. His voice seemed familiar. "You better not be talking to us," one of the man yelled. "I am! You better leave now!" Ireland than saw who the man was. It was America! "Alfred!" Ireland pushed through the two man. "Hey! I know you!" America boldly stated. "Call me Brigid," Ireland whispered. "You two need to leave Brigid alone," America straighten his back, making him taller in appearance. "Let's go," one of the man hissed. They walked away but not before flipping them off. "Ireland, why are you doing here?" America asked turning around. "I'm visiting but you weren't at home so I went here," Ireland lied, she hoped that he was gone. "Oh! I haven't been home for hours. No wonder you were here!" America laughed. Ireland smiled as well. "Well, allow me to show you the city of New York City, the grandest city of my country!" America grabbed Ireland's arm and proceeded to drag her around the city.

For hours, America dragged Ireland around the city. Showing every restaurant and every shops. Ireland was getting tired. For a while they walked along a store and there was a small ginger-haired man who seemed to be upset. "Hello, is something wrong?" Ireland asked. The man looked up and pointed at the sign. "I cannot find a job anywhere!" He shouted. Ireland looked up at the sign. The sign read: NO IRISH NEED TO APPLY. Anger started to boil in Ireland. "What's the meaning of this?" Ireland clenched her teeth as she turned to America. "Ire- I mean Brigid, I don't know why people do that. I wish I could help," America looked away, ashamed of what his people are doing to Ireland's people. The man chuckled and walked away. "I'll be fine. Don't worry." The man was no longer in sight. Ireland sighed looking back at America. "I'm sorry." America gave a weak smile. "Alfred! Alfred!" Someone shouted for America. Both Ireland and America turned to see a man in a uniform. "Who is he?" Ireland asked recognizing the uniform. It was the same one who took Seán away. "He's a soldier from my army." The uniformed man now stood in front of them. "We need you at the frontlines!" The man shouted. "I thought-" "No! We were wrong! The general is asking for you!" America sighed. "C'mon. Looks like we're going to the frontlines," America turned to Ireland. "Frontlines?" Ireland asked curious of the situation. "Yup! My country is at war!" America smiled, probably due to his immature thoughts of a possible victory. "With who?"

"I'm at war with Mexico."

AUTHOR'S NOTE: How did you enjoy this part? I hope you liked it. BTW: Brigid is a female Irish name, brigh meaning "powerful" or "high one" and I thought it was the perfect name for Ireland! Also Seán is an OC but don't fret, he is an important character but his character will not affect the story. You'll see
