Forbidden Love

Chapter Two: The Priestess and the Wolf

(Do not Own Inuyasha)

"Hey guys!" Kouga hollered out.

"Hey Kouga's back." many voices hollered and shouted.

Many wolf demons ran out to greet their young leader. As they approached him, they stopped noticing the young woman at his side. Their stomachs rumbled ,they began growling a low growl.

"Kouga brought food!" one wolf shouted.

"Good, we were all starving!" another spoke up.

Kagome started to back up in fear, but Kouga stopped her, by placing an arm around her waist. She began to panic as the wolf demons came closer to her.

"She's not food." Kouga tightened his grip on her waist.

"What?!" they became puzzled, "what is she then?"

"Well she's my mate!" he smiled.

Kagome looked down, she realized once Kouga spoke those words, the tension between the wolves began to grow. The wolf clan became furious and began to howl in anger. They shouted one after another.

"Kouga!" his clan shouted, "This is forbidden!"

"Oh calm down I'm the leader I can pick who ever I want, demon or human."

"Your leadership has gone to your head." a wolf shouted.

"Your not fit to be our leader!" another shouted.

Kouga became enraged. Their shouts didn't stop, it continued on louder and filled with hatred.

"I'm not fit to be a leader you say!" a low growl came from deep within Kouga's throat. "Than challenge me!"

The shouting ceased and they're echoes continued on throughout the cave. They began to look around to see if any wolf would challenge there strong leader.

"Ah so that's what I thought." he chuckled.

Nobody was willing to fight their fierce leader, yet they didn't accept their leaders choice of a mate. Kagome looked around, she was very timid, moving her hands across her arms. The wolf clan struck fear into the human girl. Kagome notices some of the female members of the wolf clan gave her vicious, nasty looks. They sun began to set and nightfall peered behind the evergreen trees. The wolf clan was completely against Kouga's choice, but they stood behind him in his decision. As the sky was engulfed by darkness a fire was lit in the middle of the clan. The young wolf tykes ran around the large fire. The woman got near by to watch the youngsters play. The men grumbled and made the atmosphere uncomfortable for the most part. They played music, some laughed and told stories.

"This seems very uncomfortable." she whispered.

"Oh Kagome!" he smiled, "don't worry, they will eventually warm up to you, just give them time."

"Ok if that's what you say." she sighed.

She looked around to her new 'comrades', her new family. For the most part she was perfectly fine with it but she knew deep down that nothing would be the same from here and out. The party lasted hours, dancing and laughter continued as well as the death glares coming from the females. Kagome learned to ignore their jealousy rage.

"-yawn- its getting late." Kouga stretched, "I'm getting tired. How about you?"

"oh… um… ya… just a little." she looked around once more.

"Then lets get some rest." he smirked.

"Ya… I guess your right." she kept looking around.

Kouga grabbed Kagome's wrists and walked deep into the back of the cave. Some of the females noticed. They grew with jealousy rage.

"You need to stay calm." a man nudged one of the woman.

"That woman just comes in here and takes our leader!" she growled.

"Yeah Ginta's right." another man sighed.

"Yes that's Kouga's choice," Ginta laughed. "I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mate with any of you woman. Right Hakkaku?"

"Yeah, your all really up-tight." Hakkaku added.

"You two men don't know anything." the woman get up leaving the two laughing men.

-Morning-

Kagome stretched out her arms, making a small squeaking sound as she stretched. She noticed Kouga laying next to her sleeping like a baby. The young woman looked around to see the sleeping clan in the deep slumber, she got up from the bed she slept in, walking out towards the cave opening. As she walked out the cave, Kouga followed her out, half asleep he stood next to the young woman, who stared off into the distance.

"Are you ok?" he yawned.

"Oh I'm fine." she smiled. "just thinking."

"You look upset even when you smile."

"Oh no um that's not it." she looked the other way.

"Its because I put you through this." he sighed.

"Oh um well I guess a little… but its ok." she smiled a fake smile.

"You can leave." he spoke.

"Huh? Really?" she turned to him quickly.

"Yeah, I'll never mate again though, probably never really speak again, lose my position as leader, tough depression." he gave his puppy dog eyes.

"Your making me feel guilty." she looked at him. "Aren't you?"

"Is it working?" he laughed.

"You idiot!" she put her head to her knees. "getting my hopes up, but if that's really what would happen to you, then I would just have to stick by you side."

"Well are you or not?"

"I will," she shook her head, " well I guess we can go to old Kaede's village."

"Who?"

"A lady who took care of me you can put it that way." she laughed.

"oh ok we can get going then."

-Kaede's Village-

"Kaede?" Kagome called out for the old woman.

"Kagome?" a man spoke.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome started to get mad.

"What are you doing here?" he shouted, " I told you I choose Kikyo!"

"I'm here for Kaede!" Kagome yelled.

"Is he bothering you, Kagome?" Kouga looked down at the half-breed.

"Just ignore him." Kagome walked past Inuyasha.

Just as Kagome walked past the white-haired man, he grabbed her shoulder pulling her backwards, Kouga became enraged, he grabbed Inuyasha's arm throwing him backwards into a small wobbly shack.

"Kouga?" Kagome wrapped her arm around his arms. "Don't lets just get to Kaede's!"

"I don't like the fact that he touched you." he growled.

"Don't worry I know him." her fake smile appeared once more.

Kouga's growl ceased but his glare continued to pierce into Inuyasha's eyes. Inuyasha pushed his face into Kouga's face growling at each other.

"Don't touch her again mutt-face?" Kouga growled.

"What was that wolf-breathe!" Inuyasha growled louder.

"Aye Child what is going on," an old crackly voice spoke.

Kagome twirled around, smiling towards the old lady. Kagome hopped towards the old lady giving her a large warm hug.

"Oh Kaede!" Kagome smiled. "There fighting."

Kaede spoke a few spell words, she than placed her hands on both men' shoulder, sending a shock through their bodies. Both men stopped their bickering and turned to the gutsy old woman.

"Aye now I got yer attention."

"What brings you here with such a demon, my young one."

"Oh Kouga?" Kagome put a finger to her chin.

She began to ponder, what was she going to tell the old woman. The old woman stared at the young priestess waiting for an answer.

"We're mates." Kouga grabbed Kagome.

"Mates?!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Um…Yeah…" she looked pushed herself out of Kouga's grip.

"Child!" Kaede's voice became stern. "There are consequences to being a mate with a demon!"

"Consequences?" they questioned.

"Aye" she nodded.

"Were perfectly fine." he folded his arms.

"Demons are disloyal, Kagome." Kaede spoke. "he would surely kill you if you disobeyed him."

"Would not!" he argued.

"Their untrustworthy!" she ignored the wolf's words.

"Once again not true." he tried to tell his newly bride.

Kaede stood up, standing above the couple. Her face showed disgust.

"You are just like my sister, Kikyo." she stated. "I have no concern that a human is with a demon, but you Kagome are a priestess, this is forbidden."

He looked at Kagome, she was almost in tears.

"This will be looked upon. As a priestess ye must be purified, and ye have been tainted." Kaede pointed at the teary eyes girl.

"Hey Kagome, lets go don't listen to this old hag."

Kagome stood up staring at the old priestess.

"I will be the strongest priestess! Even I f you say this is forbidden I will prove you wrong." Kagome stormed out with Kouga close behind her.

"Hey old lady." Inuyasha called out. "what was that about?"

"She has done something forbidden to all priestesses."

"She's just a copy." Inuyasha folded his arms around his head. "and Kikyo's the original…"

"That is why Kagome has done something forbidden. She copied the original." Kaede cut off the half-breed. "Kikyo choose to be with a you."

"What?!" Inuyasha stumbled, "don't blame us!"

"Both forbidden, may the Gods be with her." She sighed and walked off

-With the crying girl-

Kagome cried as she ran form the village she once called home. Kouga walked from a distance keeping a close eye on the saddened young girl. He noticed she sat under a large tree, he sighs and walks closer to her.

"Ah… never though we'd get a lecture." he spoke up suddenly.

"It's ok… really it is." she smiled once more.

"Well if you say so." he laid back in the grass.

The months began to pass slowly and the seasons past one by one. Kagome grew throughout the months, to fall and love her husband. He never once left her side. Never attacked her, never was disloyal or untrustworthy. As the months progressed, her happiness grew as well as her belly. She was pregnant with his first child. He protected her from any threats. She resumed her priestess training, concentrating on her spiritual energy. She rarely traveled to see her mother in the other world, and she hardly walked into a human village.

They days progressed and surely Kouga started to make a habit of leaving before she awakes and returns before she sleeps. Slowly but surely he sometimes left and didn't return until the next day. Another month passed and Kouga's disappearing still was frequent. She noticed each time he returned he was tired and never really talked to her. Kagome never asked why he always left, it was something he always did, so she just allowed it to be into her schedule as well. One day she noticed his departure into the morning fog. She sighed and waited his return in the evening, but day by day she waited and he never returned.
