AN- Another redo on one of my one-shots. I really liked this one-shot and I felt like I could've written way better than I original did. So here goes nothing.

The night was clear and the stars shone like fireflies in the night. The night was an exceptionally perfect night. Except for one small thing. Down below in a dry creek bed, two Clans viciously fought for that piece of territory. Cats' cries of pain and snarls of victory echoed throughout the small creek. Medicine cats rushed in and out of the fray patching up wounded warriors so that they could jump back into the worsening battle.

A dark brown tabby tom that looked especially battle worn, but not even the least bit weary was Fangheart. The deputy was fierce in battle and could not be stopped when it came to defending his Clan. Forest green eyes locked on a calico she-cat that had a golden tabby she-cat down by the neck. This calico had given him trouble in the past back when he was an apprentice and even into his earlier warrior moons and he didn't take her bullying his mate very well.

With a snarl of pure rage, Fangheart charged the calico. The she-cat looked up, releasing Gorgefeather. Fangheart connected with the calico and they both went flying across a stretch of battle open ground. He sank his unusually long canines into her shoulder as they fought. The she-cat howled in pain and with a quick swipe to the head, knocked him lose.

"Fernsky, AshClan does not belong in the forest!" Fangheart snarled as they circled each other, just waiting for the other to make a move. Fernsky let out a snort and shook her head as she glared up at him.

"That's the thing I was going to say, SnakeClan does not belong on my moor!" She cried with outrage and leaped. Fangheart lunged and the two connected in the air. Claws flashed and soon each cat was covered in fresh blood. Fangheart landed away from her, panting. Fernsky was a strong fighter and obviously more refreshed than he was because she arrived with AshClan's reinforcements long after the battle had started.

Taking a deep breath, Fangheart lunged at her again, but the lithe she-cat dodged and left Fangheart with dirt. He staggered slightly and Fernsky took the chance to grab his scruff and jerk him off his unsteady feet. Het let out a hiss of surprise and tossed his head back. It connected harshly with hers and Fernsky yelped in surprise, letting him go. The tabby fell to his feet and spun away to see her shaking her head as if to clear it. He took the opportunity and charged.

But Fernsky was prepared. The calico heard his paw steps and suddenly pained filled his face. He screeched in agony backing away from her. He couldn't feel the left side of his face. Blood blinded his vision on the left and he cast a glance up at Fernsky. Her paw was coated with a thick liquid. His blood, Fangheart blanched and stumbled back a few tail-lengths. That's when he realized it wasn't his blood that blinded his vision; he had completely lost sight in his left eye. He cried out in shock.

"You-you how dare you!" Fangheart snarled in fury as he returned his gaze onto her. Her sky blue eyes had widened at what she'd done. She had bullied him for far too long and this just pushed him over the edge.

"I- Fangheart, it was an accident! I didn't mean-" She stumbled over her words in shock. Fangheart blinked back dizziness. If he didn't get her back soon, he would pass out before he could strike. Taking a deep breath, Fangheart steadied his feet and lunged.

"An eye for an eye, Fernsky," he snarled. His long claws unfurled and Fernsky barely dodged his oncoming swipe. Fangheart let out a satisfied snarl as he felt his claws rip through flesh. Fernsky only heightened his pleasure by yowling in pain. He spun around and swung his head until he could see her face. Four beautifully placed claw marks marred her face. Blood dripped from the wounds.

"Fangheart! I will-" Fernsky had started to snarl, but her leader's call for retreat stopped her. Cats fled past them.

"Run, Fernsky, run and don't come back," Fangheart snarled, but his own leader's call for retreatment made him turn. The two rivals locked eyes with each other before they left each other. Fangheart managed to stumble a few fox-lengths before collapsing from blood loss. The last thing he saw before blacking out was Gorgefeather.

Seasons later

The dark tabby tom led his Clan, SnakeClan into the hollow of the gathering. It had taken Fangstar many moons to heal for his injury and in that time he had not let go of the grudge seated deep within him for his rival and newly appointed leader of AshClan, Fernstar. The two squabbled every single time a gathering happened and the ridiculousness of it was starting to drive a few cats up a tree. Fangstar spotted Fernstar and the moment they locked eyes, the tabby bristled.

"Fangstar, love, please," a soft voice murmured in his ear He cast a glance over to his right. The beautiful golden tabby known as Gorgefeather gave him a pointed look, "do not start another fight." His features softened considerably. This she-cat had helped him through his trials and he was extremely grateful.

"I will try," he sighed in resignation. She gave a small nod before walking off to a RabbitClan she-cat. The tom bounded up to the High Rock. He gave a nod to Rabbitstar, the oldest leader out of all of them. She had founded RabbitClan seasons ago and still was its leader today. The leader's brown tabby pelt had thinned and her muzzle was spotted with gray, but the she-cat was still as fierce as a badger. Rabbitstar gave him a small nod back. His next greeting was to Lilystar the successor of Jaggedstar, her former mate. She led BranchClan better than he had in his opinion. The pretty calico smiled back. Next was Salmonstar of FireClan. He had gained the position after his leader lost all of his lives to an unknown illness. The story was shady at best, but his medicine cat backed him and it had happened moons ago when he was still an apprentice. Fangstar still didn't trust him. Finally, his single green eye locked onto Fernstar. The four scars that marred her face once again raised the fury in his belly.

"Fernstar," he spat.

"Fangstar," she spat back.

"Alright, this is enough. There are supposed to be Clan rivalries, but this is just plain stupid," Rabbitstar snapped, causing both young leaders to look at Rabbitstar in shock

"She blinded me! That is irreversible. I have every right to act this way!" Fangstar defended angrily.

"Actually, you do not. Jaggedstar, moons ago, marred me with this," Salmonstar limped forward and his back left leg was destroyed beyond repair. "You can still hunt and defend your Clan, but I can barely run or walk without cringing in pain." Fangstar wanted to ask why he still was FireClan's leader if he couldn't even defend them, but Salmonstar's fierce amber eyes told him to hold his tongue.

"The point Salmonstar is trying to get across is that just because some cat has wronged you in anyway, doesn't mean you should not hold grudge against them. Fernstar was defending herself and an accident happened, You are the one who acted out of line, Fangstar," the graying leader of RabbitClan meowed quietly Her soft green eyes were now cold and for once, Fangstar was ashamed of himself. His mother always chastised him, but was never this quiet about it and having it come from some cat he looked up to stung.

"Now, let's get this gathering in order," Lilystar finally meowed and took a step forward. Fangstar sat back and let the words sink in. Maybe, maybe he might just let go of the past and look forward to the future Yes, he was partially blind, but at least he could care for his Clan and that's what mattered.
