Chapter 2
A/N: cranked this one out after the first one i'm praying i don't get bored of this.
Star was confused but also wore a shade of pink as she was shown out of marcos room.
She strolled out but also got a small glimpse of marco taking off his shirt wich turned her face to a shade of red.
"I knew i should have went with him when i saw that he had those weapons"
Next thing she knew she saw marco in a white tank top and blue striped pajama pants stroll out of his room." oh, and i'm gonna use my vacation days this weekend" he said strolling past her to get to the washroom.
"whait , why?" she looked at him with a confused look.
" I got something to do that's all…"
"Well… i mean, i thought me and you…could,-"
Marco smiled at her "maybe later, i mean i am your squire…so with all the work and training recently i think i deserve to take a break. "
She looked into his eyes and he smiled "alright your free for the weekend."
"Thanks star"
The latino boy hugged her tightly,( he was getting stronger and star could feel it) and proceeded to walk away, as he walked the princess felt something, it was the the same heat from the night before but there was also something she could feel in her heart… something else.
Marco walked down the steps of the castle, at the bottom he saw a did a small bow before the tall burly man in chainmail put a hand on his shoulder.
"Lad, there's no need for that, i've seen what you can do in combat with just your bare hands"
The 15-year-old, ( plus the 16 years in heckapoo's dimension) looked up and grinned as did the knight, he smiled and waved and went to the training yard.
Since marco was knight in training on top of his chores he needed to keep fit. So he started by changing into some joggers and a white undershirt and went to work. He stretched all his limbs and started running around four wooden posts which he put up around the large field. He then went on to do 100 push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, chin ups and left of with some weights.
After he was done allo of that he got two large stones and a plank of wood and began to karate chop it in half he added two boards this time and broke them both with one swing. This time he took four and brang his foot down on them breaking them wiped the sweat off his brow and spotted higgs using a bench press.
"Sup, nerd? Done already?" she said with a sneer. Higgs was in her normal leather gear for some reason even though you're supposed to wear lighter clothes. Her hair was also a little longer going down to her shoulders.
"Nah, just getting started!" marco then proceeded to sit on the bench directly next to her and grab a bar and proceeded to add 75 lb weights and lift them with relative ease ( also sporting the cockyies grin known to man or mewman kind.) after doing a few sets, he got up, cracked his knuckles, and walked away giving a wave to higgs. She smiled but flipped him the bird.
Back at the castle eclipsa sat in her tower, eating a snookers bar and sipping on a cup of tea. She heard a knock at the door, and allowed the person entry. That person was no other then star butterfly.
"star ,dear what are you doing here this late? You know you parents will be mad.."
"Eclipsa i'm confused…"
Star then began to explain the night before and that afternoon.
"Ooh, looks like somebody's in love"
"Well i know i had a crush on him and i even confessed to him that i did, but, this is different…"
" well the hearts never wrong. so listen to that, i remember when mine told me to run away with my eventual husband, already now please leave i have other things to attend to."
"but...But-"
"You'll know what you want when it's time"
Star then grumpily stalked out of the picked up speed until she found herself in front of marco room.
He was sitting on his bed with his hands behind his back and had a pair of earbuds in.
It must've listening to some good stuff because he was headbanging like crazy. Star tapped his shoulder, once he noticed he took them out of his ear and stared at her with a worried look. At this moment, her frain froze she remembered what marco and eclipsa told her.
"You okay star?"
"Yeah,um… i.. Think..i...love..you"
Marco blinked as he thought internally " what?! She's with tom and on top of that she treats me like dirt around here. but i do like her. Okay i think i what she means… as a friend right? I better play this safe and i'd rather not hurt toms feelings"
Marco stood up and grinned. "I know and i love you too.. As a friend"
As he was saying those words she was the world. But then that last part hit her like a truck and her heart sank. Instantly friendzoned. But for a brief moment she thought, at least this "won't have to get awkward like songday and i can play along to maintain this friendship and what i have with tom"
She looked up at him. She hadn't noticed that he was now slightly taller than her. He smiled and she smiled and they went into a big hug. (this time star could feel his muscular back)
"Can i have some nacho's/do you want some nachos" they said in unison
"Not again"
"Stop talking"
"Let me go first"
"Okay you go first"
"3,2,1"
"apple/banana" they said separately finally breaking the curse.
They stared at each other before hysterically laughing.
"Okay princess i'll go get those nachos" he said.
About ten minutes later he came back with a huge plate of nachos in his arms and star was sitting on his bed he handed her the plate of nachos and she put it down next to her before pulling marco into a bear hug.
"I love you marco diaz."
He grinned as he heard those word ring though his mind
"I love you too star butterfly.. So what do you want to do…"
" as your princess and commanding officer i say we sit and watch action movies and eat nachos all night!"
" your squire and best friend accepts those orders" he said with a smirk and pulled out his laptop and his face quickly going red before closing some tabs. They stayed up all night talking, laughing and watching movies.
At around 4 am mewni time marco finally collapsed in the middle of a good joke about a warnicon, so star being the understanding person that she was, gave his sleeping form a smirk and wrote on a sticky note and stuck it to his forehead. Star was kinda annoyed that he'd fallen asleep during their fun and she couldn't understand why humans need 8-hours of sleep.
Next morning was friday, after today marco could do anything for a weekend but he'd already given it to that lady. He got up and saw the pink note stuck to his he read he couldn't he but smile a little.
"Marco, today you gotta help lavado kill another lint monster and you need to drop off a few hundred swords to be repaired (you'll find there at the foot of your bed. P.s last night was really fun hope we can do it again, love ya bestie.- star"
As promised marco deliver all 363 swords to the smith. His only problem with that was being tripped by higgs on his fifth was already one o'clock if he wanted to be ready so he needed to kill that monster grabbed a bronze sword from the armory. The monster was fairly small then what he was used to so he finally killed it by cutting it in half straight down the middle. Its was now two, he had to grab his gear and survival bag. Finally he settled on a shortsword and the crossbow he bring out there he went to confront her in the first place. He packed two red sweaters some jeans and a leather coat.( and a sharp knife just in case)
He was just outside the castle when he saw tom sitting on the steps
" whats up tom? you look a little down."
He glanced at the armored up boy
"Nevermind me what's up with you?"
Tom looked incredibly reluctant on the subject but marco still had time before he needed to be at the forest so he pushed on.
" star didn't call me last night and had me real worried so i talked to her about it and she won't tell me what happened and is acting odd around me now"
This took marco by surprise. Why couldn't she tell tom that they hung out? Marco though fuck it and told him straight up because according to earth culture they did nothing wrong.
"Oh really? Cause me and star stayed up all night watching movies and when i woke up she was gone and then gave me my chore list"
Tom gave marco an odd look wich creeped marco out.
" alright i'm on vacation time now so see ya later tom" he said with a smile and wave.
Tom watched a slightly happy marco, ( his best human friend ) walk towards the demon had a growing sense of suspicion or jealousy that something happened that night.
"Okay star now why would he tell me but you couldn't?" he asked himself.
Marco approached his and clara's meeting spot from a few days ago. Only this time he was there first. It was quite odd that he was there first since she'd given him the date and time that they needed to meet to save some instantly,the taller girl , with black hair and green eyes emerged from behind a tree.
"You ready to go, lapdog?" she said with a smirk.
"What are talking about?" he looked at her with a questioning stare.
" well you have to listen to the princesses every command so doesn't that make you her lapdog?"
" im her squire smart one.." He rolled his eyes "can we go already i want to get this over with.
" but of course squire marco" They both chuckled and clara gestured into forest. He followed her lead. They were walking for at least 3 hours when they encountered a giant snake.
They both drew their swords. Marco a shortsword, and clara a claymore that seeming came out of thin air.
"How'd you do that?"
The huge snake struck claras weapon and made a loud clanging noise.
" well that's one of the reason why i need you, to talk to someone who can do something to a similar effect."Marco looked at her strangely before jumping up and stabbing the snake in the eye. The reptile thrashed around before hitting the ground.
Clara smugly looked at the slightly bloodied marco who just blinked
" should we keep going?''
"why? where already here"
She walked up to the snake before resting a hand on the stabbed eye. Her hand started to glow magenta before the snake rose again with a grin. Marco drew his sword . He now thought that clara was trying to get the snake to kill him.
"Calm down, boy" she snake spoke "is this the white knight?"
" according to the old man, or the idol he is."
The snake nodded before brandishing a fang. Clara pulled out a copper flask and opened it. A green fluid dropped from the snakes fang into the flask.
" i hope he's the right one.." the snake said
"The right what?" marco was still trying to process that there was a huge talking snake.
"Wait you didn't tell…" the snake gestured to marco. "marco , my names marco diaz"
"You didn't tell marco his purpose of coming here?"
" i gave him the most basic basics i'm too lazy to tell him everything" she said with a groan
"Well 'marco', my name is diamondback, im the main gatekeeper to eve."
Lots of things were going though his head right now.
"Whats a gatekeeper? Whats eve? What's the idol?"
" a gatekeeper is an immortal being that possess essence to travel to eve. Eve is a realm outside of mewni that only a select few know about and the idol you'll learn about the idol in due time" Diamondback said.
Clara proceed to mix the contents of the flask together.
" Drink this…"
Marco took the flask and sniffed the fluid that didn't small of anything. He took a short swig, The contents of which tasted of alcohol and choked it down before feeling dizzy.
" don't worry it'll wear off." she then proceeded to take a drink herself. "damn , i dont think ill ever get over that"
Next thing marco knew he was in a huge prostering city Complete with dimensional portals." if we could have gone by portal why did we have to drink that fluid?"
"Its more fun this way, and besides welcome to eve!" She said with a smile.
