Chapter 2 - Unexpected News

~Two Months Later~

SVU was currently work on a case involving a large family from a small town, abusing their childern. Rollins was sitting at her desk looking on her laptop.

"Find anything?" Liv came out her office and walked over to Rollins' desk.

"Not much. Hopefully Fin and Carisi are doing better than me." Rollins looked up from her laptop, and at the corner of her eye, she saw an attractive pale skinned long haired burnette women wearing a red waistcoat, black pants, and black boots. She was carrying a black bag on her shoulder. She looked like a model. Something about her seemed familar.

"Hi, I'm Lieutenant Benson, how can I help you?" Liv approached her.

"Um, hi. Is Detective Dominick Carisi here?" She asked as she looked around.

Once Rollins heard Carisi's name she stood up from her desk and apporached her.

"He's out of town at the moment working on a case. He'll be back later today." Said Rollins.

"Oh," The woman nodded. "I didn't want to call him because I thought it would be best to tell him in person."

"Tell him what?" Liv asked. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name miss..."

"Hendrickson. Arielle Hendrickson is my name." She held out her hand to shake their hands.

"Miss Hendrickson." Rollins shook her hand. "That name sounds familar. I think I heard that somewhere before."

Arielle smiled as she tucked a piece of hair behind her right ear. "I'm not surprised. I get that a lot. I used to be a beauty pageant queen."

Rollins snapped her fingers. "That's why you looked familar." She nodded. Then remembered her asking about Carisi. "You know Carisi? How?" She raised an eyebrow.

"That is a good question. I had no idea Carisi was friends with a beauty queen." Said Liv.

Arielle slightly chuckled. "We met last year in a coffee shop in Janurary. We went out for almost a year before we broke up back in October."

Her words caused Rollins to widen her eyes.

'So this is Miss Raw Foods, aka Miss 34B, aka Carisi's ex-girlfriend who works for the Ledger and dumped him on the phone'

"You're Carisi's ex-girlfriend?" Liv said in a surprised tone.

"Yes, that's correct." Arielle nodded. "The last time we saw each other was back in November, and I found out something important today and that's why I came looking for him."

"What is it?" Rollins asked.

"I came to tell him that he should know that I'm...pregnant."

Both Liv and Rollins widen their eyes, but not as wide as Rollins.

"He's the father?" Liv asked.

Arielle nodded. "He's the last person I've slept with. It has to be his. I just came back from the doctors and they told me that I'm two months pregnant, and..."

"And what?" Liv asked.

"I'm having twins." She placed a hand on her stomach and smiled.

"Twins? Well, congratulations!" Liv wrapped an arm around Arielle.

"Thank you, Lieutenant!" Arielle then looked at Rollins who was still in shock. "You must be Detective Amanda Rollins."

Rollins shook her head a bit to get out of her state of shock.

"Huh? Yes, that's me."

"Dominick talked about you so much. It's so good to finally meet you."

"Likewise." Rollins nervously nodded. "Um, Arielle?"

"Yeah?"

"I was in the same room when Carisi was on the phone with you when you broke up with him. What happened that.." She couldn't finish her sentence.

"Oh that. Well..." Arielle looked down. "Dominick came to my apartment back in late November. He was upset and wanted some advice from me."

"Advice about what?" Liv asked.

"Just about what a woman said to him. He wanted my advice about what she said to him. I knew something was wrong because he looked so heartbroken and devestated."

"When was this?" Liv asked.

Arielle looked up and started to think. "I believe it was November 23, I think. I knew it was around Thanksgiving."

Rollins widen her eyes.

'That's when he and I came back from West Virginia.'

"Did he say what happened?" Rollins asked.

'Please tell me he didn't say exactly what happen to her!'

"He said he went to a bar with this woman he's been crushing on for a couple of years. He didn't explain in details what happened there, but he took her back to her place and thought things were going good for them and tried to kiss her, but she backed off. Next morning, he went to see her and saw the bartender from the bar coming out of her place. He said that she didn't even see him and then he left. He wouldn't tell me who she was, or what she even looked like. Probably because he's protecting her from me finding out who she is."

Rollins looked away.

'He told his ex what happened?! At least he didn't say it was me, and it was out of state, and work related. That's good...But, I didn't know that last part! So, that's how he found out I slept with Buck!'

"Anyway, Dominick was really sad. And, I can't blame him. I mean, if I went somewhere with a guy I've been crushing on a for years and then tried to kiss him, but backs off and I come see him the next morning, only to find out he slept with some random stranger; I would be pissed and heartbroken too. He said he really liked her too."

Rollins looked back at Arielle when she said those words.

'I knew Carisi had a thing for me, but...I didn't think it was like that! No wonder he was acting that way towards me. Now I feel like shit. Wait a minute..'

"Did he come see you that night because he wanted to hook up to make himself feel better because he couldn't have sex with this woman he's been crushing on?" Rollins wanted to know exactly what happened.

Arielle shook her head.

"No. After he told me what happened, he looked even more heartbroken, and I start telling him the great things about him, and that woman is nothing more than just some bitch who doesn't see what a great guy he is-"

"He's one of the best guys I know!" Rollins blurted out.

Liv and Arielle both paused at her outbrust.

"Sorry, go on." Rollins apologized.

"I didn't realize how close I was to him, or how good his cologne was, then I looked into his eyes, and...I kissed him."

Rollins felt her chest become heavy.

"He kissed back, one thing lead to another, we ended up in my bed having sex. Really good sex. He's a REALLY GOOD kisser. Man, that bitch missed out on those lips. Each time I felt the touch of his lips, I felt like I was on cloud 9. He's that good, especially in the bed."

"Okay, I think we heard enough of that." Liv waved it off with her hand.

'He slept with her that night?! Is he really a great kisser?! And great at sex?! I mean, I do have a crush on him, but...'

"But, the point is. I think what really crushed him was what that woman said to him afterwards." Arielle spoke causing Rollins to widen her eyes as she stared at the woman.

"What did he tell you?" Rollins gulped.

"He said, "If a person said, "You know I'm human, right? And human people have sex. Sometimes with people they love, sometimes with people they don't even know. And sometimes with people who are pains in the ass.", what do you think they mean by that?" Is what he told me. And from the where he was acting, he seemed lost and confused on what to think about that." Arielle looked at both of them.

Rollins looked away as she stared at Carisi's desk, remembering the memory of that day.

'I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. I was just telling him the truth. I didn't do anything wrong. But, now that I hear those words coming from another person's mouth, I guess I was a little bit harsh on him.'

"He's a sweet guy. So kind and good. But people take advantage of that. Especially when he was young. From bullies, Casey Griffen-" Arielle was cut off by Liv.

"Who's Casey Griffen?" Liv asked.

Arielle looked at both of them with a confused and surprised look on her face.

"You two don't know who he is? Did Dominick never tell you that he was kidnapped for five years as a child by a serial killer?"

Liv and Rollins widen their eyes at the reporter's words.

"Wait, Carisi was kidnapped as a child?!" Rollins exclaimed.

"Yeah, he was." Arielle nodded. "He told me when we were discussing what a child feels when they're taken away from their families. And he brought up his story."

"When did he tell you this?" Rollins asked.

Arielle looked at the side, thinking. "I think it was four months after we met when he told me."

'I've known him for 4 years and he tells a woman he met after 4 months that he was kidnapped instead of me!' Rollins scolded in her mind.

"Did he say how old he was, and how long he was kidnapped?" Liv asked.

"Five years. He was only 8, and the FBI and US Marshals found him when he was 13, in Alaska." She shook his head. "He told me what happened, and it was just...terrible and cruel." She shivered. "It's a miracle that he even survived something as cruel as that man. Thank god he's dead now."

Liv and Rollins had concern looks on their faces.

"Would you mind telling us what happened to him?" Rollins asked.

Arielle looked up to see their facial expressions, then shook her head.

"If he didn't tell you this, maybe I shouldn't tell you his story." She slightly nodded. "It's best for him to tell you. Afterall, it's his story to tell, not mine. Just ask him to tell you."

"We will." Liv nodded. "We're SVU, we deal with terrible stories everyday. We're train for this."

Arielle nodded then looked down at her watch. "Well, I better get back to work now. I've taken enough of your time as it is. When Dominick comes back, just tell him I stopped by looking for him and just tell him to call me, or head to my apartment. I'll be waiting for him. Have a nice day you two." She smiled and walked away.

"You too!" Liv spoke as they watched her leave. Once the reporter was out of sight, Liv turned to Rollins.

"Do you mind telling me what happened between you and Carisi in West Virgina?"

Rollins jumped a bit as she slowly turned her head to face her.

"What do you mean?"

"I saw the way you were acting when Arielle was telling us about her hook up with Carisi and why he was upset." She took a step forward. "You're that woman, aren't you?"

Rollins was slightly as she stared at her boss.

"I was...being professional and tried not to ruin our relationship. I didn't mean to hurt him, Liv."

"Judging from what she said, Carisi was only hurt because you chose a stranger over him, and what you said to him afterwards."

"I already knew he liked me, and I have feelings for him as well. I was just...afraid."

"Well, you did the right thing about not getting involved with another co-worker. Nick, Declan."

"Nick was just a friends with benefits, because we both got hurt by others. Declan was a drunken hook up during a storm."

"And Carisi? Were you afraid that if you slept with him, something bad was going to happen? Because of your past with men?"

She shooked her head. "He's different from them, and other guys I met. He's a good guy, a great guy. One of the bests I know. Any woman would be lucky to have him. But, I just didn't want him to get hurt because of me. But I did hurt him." Rollins frowned. "I thought he just shrug it off, cause things went back to normal the day after, but really; the reason why was because his ex-girlfriend took advantage of his depress state to sleep with him. To make him feel better."

Liv nodded as the blonde talked and placed a comfort hand on her shoulder.

"I know the way you feel. It was like that with me and Cassidy long ago."

Rollins looked up at her.

"We had a drunken hook up, and he wanted to go out with me. But I said no because we were co-workers. Things got hard afterward, and then after a case, he decided to quit SVU. Years later during that Genzel case, when he got shot in front of me. I practically died. Then all of those memories with him came back in an instant, and I realized that I did infact liked him. Of course you know how the story goes."

"I doubt Carisi is gonna end up like him." Rollins had a small smile.

Liv chuckled, "That's foresure. But the point is, if you really like someone but just too afraid of getting hurt, or the other person getting hurt, that's normal. But one day, you may regret it because you didn't take your chance with the person. And then, they're gone forever."

"Because they're already starting a family with someone else." Rollins spoke softly.

Liv and Rollins now know about Carisi's hook up, and he got his ex pregnant. And with twins.

Looks like Rollins isn't taking the news very well

What is Rollins going to do when she sees Carisi when he gets back?
