"I don't know what's wrong with her," he was telling the technician. "I mean, yeah, she's been acting kind of weird, but she hasn't been really malfunctioning or anything."

The technician nodded. "I'll see what I can do."

As she was being wheeled away, he felt something of himself going with her. He thought she was saying his name. He shook his head, as if that would get rid of his thoughts. She is lucky, he mused. She's innocent. She knows a world of data; her mind, if that's what you'd call it, isn't clouded by human feelings. She will never know pain.

But she will never know love, either. Maybe that would kill her innocence, if she could feel emotion. Is it worth it?
