Author's Note!
Okay, so this is my first ever story, and I'd like to ask you to just read, become obsessed, ask for more, love me, love the story, and live your life like that. But, that wont happen, so I'll just ask you to read, enjoy and review instead! Thank you to anyone who does, and I hope you enjoy it! The more feedback I get, the more I'll be inspired to write!
Please give the story a chance, it gets better as it goes on! I promise! Thank you! And I usually write a little question, or comment, at the end, so if you could respond to that as well, it would be great! Thank you again!
A quick thanks to 'AnotherJilyShipper' for reading it through and helping me out!
Please excuse any mistakes!
Disclaimer: I do not own anything in this story. J.K Rowling is a Goddess, and she owns all of the characters, places and other thingys in this story, unless you notice something you don't recognise. If so, that is mine.
Enjoy!
I woke up very early the next morning, as my weird sleeping habits make me do, and just sat there, looking around.
The room I'm was staying in hadn't changed much since my last visit. Obviously, the wall separating mine and James' room had disappeared, leaving one giant bedroom, with two double beds in the opposite corners, but other than that, it was the exact same room. It was decorated in bright red and gold colours, just as we had decorated in our Hogwarts dorm, and everything was Gryffindor themed; the beds, the carpet, the lighting, the walls, and even the wardrobe and drawers!
James' side of the room had brooms and other Quidditch equipment hanging on the walls, posters of the Chudley Cannons (his favourite team), and photos of him and the rest of us Marauders, which made me smile. It had clothes thrown across the floor, a habit which had proved difficult to stop, and empty sweet packets everywhere. My best friend truly was a messy git.
My side of the room, was quite similar in the fact that it had clothes and sweet packets thrown across the floor (despite me being there only a day!), but the decorations were slightly different. I had plastered the walls with many posters! I had a poster of the Chudley Cannons (insisted upon by James), and posters of motorbikes and Page 3 Girls everywhere. I grinned at my slight obsession with the female gender, and thought this would be the year that I would finally take them down.
At school, I had the record of being with the most girls in a year, not a record I'm particularly happy with, but a record all the same. I just couldn't find anyone that gave me goosebumps, or made my heart beat fast every time she came near me (cheesy as it sounds).
However, there was Olivia Rose… But she was the Lily to my James! We argued, we fought, we teased each other, played pranks on each other, but the arguments! You couldn't beat them! They made me tingle with excitement, and I can never wait for the next one! Actually, I feel like writing a letter right now, just to display my undying hate for her!
I walked over to James' side of the room, where he kept his ink and parchment, and started writing away!
Dearest Rose,
You may be unaware of this, but currently, Hogwarts Number 1 Hottie is writing to you, just to display my undying hate for you, you know, as you do!
If you hadn't guessed yet, it's me, your favourite person! Sirius Black! I'm staying at the Potters, and was bored out of my mind, so decided to write to you, to tell you that you look funny.
Bleeaurghhh… I can't be asked to write any more.. If Evans is there, tell her she looks like a pile of Hippogriff dung, and that James still loves her (for some reason that is completely weird in my brain).
Anyways, can't wait to not see you in the next few weeks, it's peaceful and calm without you, which is great!
From Black.
I laughed at my immaturity, and woke up James' sleepy white owl, called 'Poof'. James had got the owl halfway through our first year at Hogwarts, and all I had called it was Poof, leading to that being the only name it responds to, to James' dismay.
Poof nipped at my fingers, angry at being woken this early, and I attached the letter to his leg.
"Take this to Olivia Rose, Poof. I'm sure you'll find her. Peck her for a reply until she bleeds." I told him.
I opened the window and let out Poof, sending him unwillingly on his way.
I walked over to James' bed, and laughed to myself a little, looking at his sweet and innocent face. I walked up to the side of his bed, positioned myself an inch away from his ear, and shouted.
"JAAMEESSSS!"
"ARGH!" James flew out of his bed, and landed directly on the floor next to it. I doubled over in laughter, looking at my friends scared and puzzled face.
"You bastard! You scared the living hell out of me!"
I wiped away a tear of laughter, and picked him up off of the floor, picking up his pillow as well, noticing something quite amusing. "James," I said, "were you dreaming of Evans again?"
He turned around and looked at me. "No!"
"You were! Your pillow is wet and you have a drool mark! You were totally dreaming of Evans!"
He walked into his bathroom, muttering to himself, something about regretting bringing me into his home.
I walked over to my side of the room, and started throwing on some clothes, deciding having a wash can wait until later, after all, it is the summer holidays!
James walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later, looking a little bit more awake and refreshed. "I swear to Merlin, Sirius, wake me up like that again, and I will kick you so hard your grandchildren will feel it!"
"Would you? I mean, I bet my grandchildren are right little rebels, they could do with a kick to put them in order!"
"We'll try it sometime, but now, I'm hungry."
I grinned at the idea of food, and followed him out of the room, ready for a for a full English breakfast!
I followed James down the maze he called a house, and sat next to him on a large mahogany table, capable of sitting more than a dozen people. I laughed to myself, remembering when we were younger, we would sit at either end of the table and attempt to throw food into each others mouths, but now, after realising it wouldn't work, we settled for sitting next to each other.
Izzy came into the room and bought us a large plate of bacon, eggs, toast and coffee, a meal fit for kings!
"Thanks Izzy," we both said.
"So…. What are we doing today then?" James asked, stuffing his mouth with multiple foods, all of which had been topped in a thick golden syrup. "It's all your choice, so name it."
I looked up at him, swallowed the bacon in my mouth, and frowned. "Since when do you let me decide what we do?"
"Umm… Since you were abandoned by your family and left on the streets with not a soul in the world who cares about you?"
I smiled at his harsh words, expecting nothing less from my best mate. "Ouch, I'll take it. How about we find your parents, and then decide what to do?"
"No need for that mate," James laughed, "I think they know you're here now." He pointed behind me.
I turned around, and Mr. and Mrs. Potter stood there, gaping at me, not the sight I expected this early in the morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Potter were both aurors, well into their late 60's, but looked younger than Mcgonagoll herself. The both had greying hair, Mr. Potter's standing up in several directions, and warm smiles. Mrs. Potter's eyes were light blue, whereas Mr. Potter had striking hazel eyes, just like his son. He also stood around 6ft, slightly taller than his son, who was only 5ft11.
I stood up and laughed, "On usual occasions, I'd accept the gaping, as I am Sirius Black, but this isn't one of those occasions, so what's with the staring?"
Mrs. Potter laughed, grabbing me into a hug. "Nothing dear, we're just completely surprised to see you! James said you weren't coming over at all this summer? Something to do with the family…?"
"Well, things didn't go as they had planned it," I sighed, "so I've left and chosen to seek refuge here for the rest of the summer, if that's okay with you guys?"
Mr. Potter smiled, "We won't ask any questions son, and you're always welcome here." He grabbed my hand, and shook it firmly, making me wince in the process. Mr. Potter and I looked at it, finding the deep red gash that spread across it.
"Care to explain son?"
"I had completely forgotten about it," I said, feeling it, "just a little leaving gift my mother decided to give to me."
Mrs. Potter pulled me into his chair, and summoned some dittany.
"This will sting, Sirius," she told me.
"Don't worry, I'm a man, I can overcome any pain the world can send out…" Mrs. Potter cut me off, and spread the dittany over my palm.
"OUCH!" I yelped. "That bloody hurts!"
James and Mr. Potter doubled over in laughter.
"You're so predictable mate, don't be a baby, it's just a bit of dittany!" James wiped away a tear, and walked out of the room.
"Where are you going!?" I shouted, standing up to follow him.
"Sit back down, Sirius, I'm not done yet! I still want to put a bandage around it, to prevent you from itching it." Mrs. Potter started wrapping bandages around my hand, whilst Mr. Potter sipped on his tea, reading his newspaper.
"Have you seen this, dear?" He asked, pointing to a spot on the paper, showing Mrs. Potter, who inhaled quickly.
"What?" I asked, glancing at both of them. "Is it another attack?" There had been many attacks lately, aimed at muggle borns and just muggles in general, innocent people who had done nothing wrong in the world. That was the main reason I had left my family. They agreed to that rubbish, saying it was good to rid the world of non-magical people, whereas I'm all up for apparating in there and kicking some Death Eater ass.
"Yes, Sirius, but only a small one this time, two deaths and three injured." Mrs. Potter replied. Is that really good, I thought to myself?
"When will this guy stop? He knows he can't win this war, right?" I asked.
Mrs. Potter looked at her husband, and then at me again. "That's the thing Sirius, he thinks he can. Even Dumbledore has been cautious around him. This is something different." She sighed, and Mr. Potter continued for her.
"Sirius, there have been over 30 deaths in the past three months, and nobody can track down this monster. He has something all those other dark wizards didn't, something that makes even the ministry scared."
I stood up, "You'll be able to beat him though, you and the other aurors? You helped Dumbledore take down Grindelwald, and you're the best in the department! Surely you can get him!"
Mrs. Potter smiled, "Sirius, in case you hadn't noticed, we're old now!" I laughed at the harsh reality of the truth.
"Everyone's trying their best, just focus on Hogwarts, and enjoy your last two years. Don't let this guy get you down."
I grinned, "Sure thing Mrs. P, I'll keep your boy out of trouble, and we'll have the best two years we possibly can!"
Both Potters laughed, and James walked back into the room, carrying his and my brooms.
"What happened to me deciding what we do?" I asked.
James smiled, "I got bored, and you were crying in pain, so I took advantage and decided for you. Plus you woke me up this morning."
I smiled and playfully slapped him around the head. "What if I didn't want to play Quidditch?"
"I would have hit you in the face until you said yes." He replied, rubbing his head.
We all laughed, and me and James walked upstairs to get changed.
"So, are Moony and Wormtail staying this summer?" I asked.
"I think they are both coming after we receive our OWLs, so we can compare results, prove that I'm a genius, and go to Diagon Alley together." James' voice turned into a whisper, "Also, Moony's got his 'furry little problem' to deal with in a couple of weeks, so we have to wait for that to past."
I grinned. "Can't we join him! I miss the Whomping Willow and the night's breeze."
"You know we can't, but we can go for a little run later this afternoon, if you want?"
I smiled at his idea, "You really have some great ideas, do you know that?"
"It's been known to happen." He laughed.
We walked into his room, where Poof was flying around happily, pleased he got back so fast.
"Poof?" James looked at me. "Did you let him out this morning?"
"I may have sent a quick message, yes."
"You didn't do anything stupid did you?"
I laughed at his accusations. " I'm not that thick. I sent a message to Rose, and Evans for that matter."
He stopped, and stared at me. "What did you write in that letter Padfoot. Please tell me you didn't humiliate me and blow my chances with my one true love and only romantic interest!?"
"Damn, you have it bad," I laughed. "No, I didn't write anything like that, I just did the usual, told Rose I dislike her, and Evans you loved every part of her existence!"
"Oh, good, lets see what she wrote then."
I caught Poof and detached the letter from his leg. "Thanks buddy."
Dear Black,
You are not 'Hogwarts Number 1 Hottie'! You're too much of a toad to be that!
You're definitely not my favourite person, considering you woke me up with that bloody owl, did you know he made me bleed! I can't begin to describe my hate for you Black, you're a complete idiot!
Yes, Evans is here, and I'd like to write down what she said in retaliation to you, but I fear it would stop your non-existent heart, so I wont trouble you.
She says to tell James he doesn't have a chance, not even if he and her were the last people on this planet and they were the only way to save all humanity. Not even then.
Anyway, I'd appreciate not hearing from you again, so keep that bloody bird away from me!
From Rose.
"….. Not quite the answer I wanted." James said.
"Oh shut up, she's been rejecting you for years, that was actually quite nice compared to some of the other stuff she's wrote." I patted him on the back, feeling generally happy, and started changing into my Quidditch clothes. "Now get dressed Prongs, we have a full day of Quidditch ahead of us!"
He grinned, and started changing.
Life couldn't be much better than this, I thought.
