You have no idea how much I love you for reviews, guys! I know, there's only two, but for me it means a lot ;) And I am also so sorry for such long "break". High school is really taking away from me my free time :v I hope that this will never happen again.

DISCLAIMER: first chapter

Enjoy!

My heart was biting extremely fast. I couldn't got my eyes off Amelie. I haven't seen her for something like seven years, we have never been close friends, but seeing her now pale and dead made me shocked.

Jane put her hand on my shoulder and said quietly "I am so sorry, Maur."

"That's okay" I closed my eyes for a second and tried to control my breath. "Actually, I am not sure if that's her. You have to check her fingerprints." Of course they would do that, you stupid.

"But you recognize her face, didn't you?" Jane gave me her come-on-Maur-agree-for-once.

"I-I am full of hormones now, Jane. It was too quick reaction. Unprofessional." In respond Jane only sighed heavily, so I continued to examine the body. I didn't notice any suspicious objects, stub wounds, which was really weird because she was all covered in blood. So I decided to turn her around to see her back.

"Oh my…" I murmured when I saw something like ten knives pushed into her spine.

"So now we can be sure that this is not a coincidental death" said Korsak and we all agreed with him.

When we got back to the police station, I went straight downstairs to my office. I left my bag and coat on the couch and took my scrubs from wardrobe. Actually, navy-blue trousers fit perfectly, as usual, but t-shirt? No way. Since I found out I was pregnant, I was excusing myself for not buying larger scrubs. Honestly, the 'no time' excuse was the real one. But scrubs are my smaller problem than my terrible mother instincts. Because of my long hours at work, I didn't even had a chance to buy some baby stuff. Every evening I got home late and I am too tired to surf the Internet. When I heard doors open, I almost hit ceiling with my head.

"Jane? Is that you?" I asked loudly but nobody answered. Then suddenly someone hugged me behind my back.

"How is that possible that every time I see you, you are million times more beautiful?" My heart melted when I heard his voice.

I turned around and whispered "Ian…" I kissed him on lips. Oh God, I couldn't even describe how much I've missed him. I haven't seen him in four months and since then my every day was full of fear, that in any moment someone from the US army would call me and tell me that he died.

"Why are you here?" I asked. "I mean – you were supposed to be in Boston next week. And I was supposed to pick you up from the airport."

"Are you hiding lover in your house?" He raised his eyebrow and then smiled. "I just couldn't wait to see you. And our baby." Ian put his hand on my huge belly and I felt some movement inside me. He hugged me tight, when another person came in.

"I am sorry to interrupt that beautiful family moment, but we have another murder, Maur" Jane announced without even looking at Ian.

"Sorry" I said and grabbed my coat and purse.

"That's okay. You have to work." Ian winked at me and kissed me on my forehead. "I'll wait for you at home."

I only smile in respond, because I could actually see Jane vomiting with rainbow.

"You are going in you dead suit?" she asked when we head towards elevators.

"I will change in the car."

"So you are going with me." She looked at me like on some irresponsible child.

"I am not an invalid, Jane." I growled.

"You are eight months pregnant and you are going with me" she insisted.

"Okay, as you wish" I sighed heavily.

As soon as we got out of the elevator, Angela ran to us.

"Here, loves," she handed me and Jane paper bags, "I made you both some sandwiches for lunch."

"Yay, thanks, Ma" Jane said without even a bit of enthusiasm.

"Yes, thank you, Angela" I smiled and hide lunch bag in my purse.

"No more chatting, we have to go!" Jane grabbed my arm and pulled me towards main doors.

"Remember to eat this!" Angela shouted behind us. "Especially you, Maura! It's important in your condition!"

I only waved to her. Outside we were welcomed by cold October wind. Winter in California is the only thing I truly missed. When we hide in Jane's car, she said "You wanted overprotective mother and now you got one. How does it feel?"

"Really annoying sometimes." Jane only laughed. "But I don't really mind. She is doing this because of her kindness. And I think that she will be the most perfect half-grandma in the whole world."

"Half-grandma? Don't ever say that to her." Jane burst into laughter again and all I could do was rolling my eyes.

After thirty minutes we finally pulled over. We were somewhere between nowhere. There was only one building in the area – old, green barn. And that was probably the crime scene. We went there, checked in and were guided right to the barn. Smell inside was horrible. I had to be strong, even then. I wanted to ask someone where is the body. But then I saw it. In bloody pool there was woman's naked body. I got closer and almost passed out. Her face was all in small cuts but on her forehead there was one engraved word. Flèche.

It's not long (again), I know. But next chapter will probably be longer. I hope you enjoyed it!
