"WAAAHHH! WAAAHHH!"
Cat's hazel eyes slowly slipped open as she heard the crying sounds of her baby daughter. The woman let out a groan as she started to get up and attend to Kiera's needs, but a hand on her shoulder stopped her from moving.
"I'll take care of it," came the voice of Kara, whispering into her ear. "You just go back to sleep." Kissing the CEO's cheek, the young superhero got out of the comfort of her bed, clad in only her panties, grabbed the dress shirt that Cat had thrown on the floor from their love making and made her way to their bundle of joy's bedroom.
But even though she was told to, Cat couldn't go back to sleep. With the combination of Kiera waking her up, followed by the kiss to her cheek and finally the nice view of her fiancée's shapely, clothed ass, the CatCo founder was wide awake. So, instead, she continued to lay in bed and listened to the sound of her lover's voice, trying to sooth their child's cry.
Kara quickly hurried to her daughter's room, the wailing getting louder. Once inside, she made her way to the cot, containing her small everything, and picked Kiera up. "Hey, hey sweetheart, Kara spoke soft and sweet. "What's wrong?" The answer she got was more crying. Knowing it'll be a long while before the baby girl could talk, there were only two options. One; she had just done her business and she felt uncomfortable. Or two; she was hungry.
Thankfully it's not the first thing she thought, her heightened sense of smell telling her exactly that. Which meant that it was the second. "Are you hungry, Kiera?" she asked, detaching some of the buttons on her shirt, exposing one of her breasts and lifting her daughter to her chest so she could have her fill. But Kiera continued to cry, not even making an attempt to suckle on the pink flesh.
There was a third reason why, but Kara hadn't want to think it possible. Kiera had her first nightmare. The heroine, covering herself up, brought her girl closer and began to sway this way and that, whispering to her, telling her that everything was okay.
But the baby wouldn't stop crying. Kara thanked Rao that Carter was at his father's tonight, otherwise he'd have been woken up by now. And with school the next day, she would have wanted for him to get all the rest he could get.
There was only one more thing she could try and if that didn't work, the woman would be out of options. Walking up to the rocking chair, Kara sat down, closed her eyes and took in a breath. She remembered the time when she and Barry Allen where stuck in the musical world thanks to the Music Meister, and because of it, she realised that she had another talent, said talent being her voice.
So she began to sing.
She sang to her baby girl, but not in English. She sang in her Kryptonian tongue. She rocked, back and forth, back and forth in the rocking chair, her blue gaze remaining on her daughter with a gentle look. The wailing of the child started to die down, Kiera's hazel eyes staring into Kara's orbs with great interest. The Kryptonian mother smiled, knowing that her singing was working, and when her bundle of joy stopped crying all together, she tried feeding her again.
This time, Kiera did begin to drink. Kara carried on her song until her daughter had her fill, and once she was finished, she detached herself from the heroine's chest and just listened to her mother's soothing voice. Hazel orbs slowly began to close, and in a couple of minutes, Kiera went back to sleep.
Kara eased out of her song once she realised that her girl had gone back to the land of dreams. She placed her back in the cot slowly, so she didn't wake her up. "Good night Kiera," she whispered, kissing her daughter's little head and prayed to Rao that no more nightmares invaded her daughter's now peaceful sleep.
Cat watched as her fiancée came back into their room, got into bed and had her back facing the CEO. The older woman shimmied closer to Kara, wrapped an arm around the Kryptonian's stomach and placed a light kiss on her neck.
"I didn't know you could sing," Cat mentioned, feeling the body in her arms tense up and could see, even through the darkness, the blush creeping up on her neck.
"Y-You heard that?" she asked, shyly. Cat gave a nod and hum. "What'd you think?"
"It was beautiful, just like you."
She couldn't see it, but she knew Kara was smiling bashfully now from the verbal affection. Not wanting to be the little spoon anymore, the superhero turned her body around and cuddled into Cat, her head beneath the CEO's chin, her ear on the woman's chest and listening to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. It was a comfortable silence between the two woman, and in that silence, Cat felt the pull of sleep coming at her like a wave.
"Hey Cat," the younger girl spoke up, bringing Cat back to wakefulness just a bit longer.
"Yes, darling."
"I love you."
Cat smiled and kissed the younger blonde's hair. "I love you too."
More one-shots coming soon.
See ya later!
