... Hey :( yeah I know, it's been a while since I updated and I doubt there will be a update after this. I was just going through some of my files and found this. I hadn't posted it before because I believe I had wanted it to be longer but now I think it's good where it is. I've just lost interest in this story so if someone likes this story enough to continue be my guest... but please ask first as Ashlen and Mona are my characters

~Earlier that same night~

It was a nice, quiet night. A calm silence hushed over the whole town. Not even villains plagued the town tonight. Also, being the start of summer, the teenagers were too busy having their first day of summer fun to bother with the KND. It seemed a time where all children could let their guards down and enjoy themselves. Some of those kids included Sector V of the Kids Next Door.

Sector V, which was located growing out of Nigel Uno's house, was the opposite of the town outside. Just as happy about the school year being over as the teenagers, all five kids residing inside were playing. Numbuh 3 and 4, otherwise known as Kuki and Wally, were battling each other on a video game. Numbuh 5, aka Abby, was relaxing on the other couch, listening to music. Hoagie, known as Numbuh 2, was in his room, designing new 2X4 technology. Numbuh 1, however, wasn't as relaxed as his teammates.

Unlike the rest of his sector, he continued to keep his guard up. As a KND sector leader, it was his job to make sure the town and tree house was safe at all times. He knew that it was the quietest of nights that could always be the most dangerous. The young, bald, British boy knew something was going to happen tonight, and he planned to stop it before things turned ugly.

Back in the tree house's living room, Numbuh 3 was badly beating Numbuh 4 at the video game. It wasn't much of a surprise though, since it was rare that Numbah 4 actually won against her. As expected, Wally threw his controller to the ground and began accusing Kuki of cheating part way through the game. The young Japanese girl only continued to giggle as Numbuh 5 shook her head in disapproval.

Out the five kids in sector V, Abby was the most mature and intelligent. She was also the only member in her sector to have two older siblings, an older brother and an older sister. Despite her older sister being a teen villain, Abby had some insight on what life would be like as a teenager. As an example, she knew the real purpose behind a bra and what deodorant was used for. She also, unlike the rest of her sector, knew the real place babies came from as her older brother had kids of his own. They come from New Jersey.

"Oh chill out, Numbuh 4. You know you can't beat Numbuh 3 at this game. You never do." Abby admonished, tapping her hand with the beat of her music, to the angry Australian boy. Wally simply glared at the TV screen and huffed.

"Oh, this whole game is just stupid. Eh, I'm going to see what Number 2 is doing." Wally, giving up on the game, slid off the couch. Finally noticing that her video game partner was leaving, Number 3 poked her head over the couch.

"Aw, come on Wally, I want to play again. Pleeaaassse?" Kuki begged, her eyes becoming wide. However, having a weakness for Number 3's puppy eyes, Wally didn't even bother look back.

"No way! I refuse to lose to a girly-girl anymore." Wally snapped, as he pushed his way into Hoagie's private bedroom. Abby, who had watched the whole thing, simply laughed.

"Heh, heh. Don't you worry, Numbuh 3. Numbuh 5 will play with you." Abby said, as she leaped over so she'd be beside Kuki. Even though she was slightly upset Wally didn't want to play anymore, the Japanese girl brightened up at Abby's offer to play with her.

"Alright, Numbuh 5. Here, I'll get the controller." Kuki happily said as she slid off the couch. Walking over to the thrown controller, the Japanese girl grabbed it through the sleeve of her over sized green sweater.

However, before the Numbah 3 could stand up, the ground beneath her feet began to shake. Crying out in shock, Kuki attempted to keep her balance, but failed as she fell on her butt. Abby, also crying out, was gripping the couch, and had a better time keeping her balance than Kuki. The three boys were just as surprised about the earthquake as the girls were. Both Wally and Hoagie fell to their butts, but Nigel managed to keep his balance. He had activated his rocket shoes and hovered in the air until the shaking stopped.

"Uh, what happened?" Kuki asked groggily. Abby, who was climbing off the couch to get her fallen hat, frowned thoughtfully.

"Numbuh 5 doesn't know, but she knows it can't be good." She answered, rubbing her chin. At that moment, the three boys of Sector V came rushing into the room.

"Is everyone alright?"

"Whoa, what in the world was that all about?"

"Attention, everyone, it seems we have a problem."

All three boys said at once. However, it was Nigel that got the most attention. He was already at the large window that showed the yard and street below the tree house. An angry frown was on his face, as he was looking down at something in his yard. It was even amazing he could see that far down while wearing his dark sunglasses, but he was Nigel Uno, no ordinary operative. With the others exchanging looks, the four remaining Sector V kids rushed over to see what their leader was looking at. There, down in the grass, was a teenage girl.

"What the... what's a cruddy teenager doing here?" Wally demanded angrily. Nigel backed away from the window, and rubbed his chin in thought.

"I don't know, but it can't be good." He stated, and turned to his teammates. "Everyone, grab a B.L.A.Z.E.R and report outside. I knew something was going to happen tonight." Nigel then ordered. The others, at the threat of a possible attack, all sprung into action.

Rushing to grab their 2x4 laser guns, Sector V rushed into their pods that would take them to their docking bay. From there, the group of kids, avoiding their 2x4 air crafts, ran for a stairwell that would take them outside. It only took the KND about half a minute to make it out of the tree house, and onto the front yard of the Uno house. There the teenager was, sitting only a foot away the road. It looked like she was holding something but, as her back was to the kids, they couldn't be sure what it was. It didn't really matter though and the five children surrounded the teenager.

"Alright, teenager, you got five seconds to explain what you're doing here. I advise you to start talking!" Nigel ordered as he pointed his B.L.A.Z.E.R at her. Instead of answering, the teenage girl just shielded her eyes from the bright lights from their weapons as she looked at them.

"What? Teenager? I'm not a teenager. Where are we?" The girl asked, confusion found in her face and voice. The kids weren't convinced that the confusion was real, and readied their weapons to attack.

"We're asking the questions here, teenager. You think we really believe you're a kid?" The bald, British kid said again. The woman frowned and gave the boy a look of disappointment.

"I'm twenty, kid. I'm a legal adult. Now can you please tell me where Mona and I are?" The woman asked. The five kids exchanged glances, before turning their attention back at the woman and slowly creeping closer.

"Don't play stupid with us, so-called adult. Start answering if you wish to get out of this burn free!" Nigel threatened.

"Who's this Mona person?" Wally demanded, his finger twitching to press the trigger. The woman sighed, seemingly exhausted, and moved her other arm to reveal the humanoid cat that was clutching her chest.

The others gasped in surprised and lowered their weapons. The humanoid cat was a child, a young one at that. Besides having a tail, which had been hidden moments ago, this girl looked like she could be the granddaughter to the crazy old cat lady. However, she was still a child, and it was their duty to protect her. It only took them seconds to regain their composure and aim their guns at the woman.

"Release the girl, adult! Slowly." Nigel ordered, having gotten close enough to hear the woman's breathing. Now, mixing with her confusion, the woman was becoming annoyed.

"Excuse me, but who are you to tell me what to do? All I want to know is how I got here and we will leave you be." The woman snapped, her temper slipping. Numbuhs 1-3 and 5 glared, but Wally was grinning.

"Big mistake talking to Numbuh 1 like that, cruddy adult." He said, before turning his head in Nigel's direction. "Come on, Numbuh 1, lets just take the kid and teach this adult a lesson about not messing with us." Wally commented, a small, impatient whine in his voice. Before Nigel could even begin to consider the idea, the small humanoid cat turned their way and she was shown glaring.

"Stop being so mean to my mom, jerk." Mona hissed, showing off her slightly sharpened cat teeth. Nigel, Hoagie, Kuki and Abby gasped in surprised, but Wally didn't pay attention to what the little girl actually said.

"Jerk?! I'm trying to..."

"Numbuh 4, you idiot. She just said that this woman is her mother." Abby chided, hitting the boy with her hat. Wally simply grumbled and rubbed his arm as Nigel continued to look confused and unconvinced.

"Wait a moment, how can she be your daughter? You don't even look alike. I mean, it's more believable that she's the granddaughter of the Crazy Old Cat Lady." He pointed out the obvious differences between the two. The woman and Mona exchanged looks and smiled.

"Mona's adopted. Her real parents died two years ago and I've been taking care of her since." The woman explained calmly, despite being confused and irritated only moments before. Hoagie and Abby lowered their weapons, Nigel was still unconvinced, Wally still wanted to beat the woman up, but Kuki did something completely different.

"Aw, she's sooo cute!" The Japanese girl said, dropping her weapon and grabbing the Neko girl in a hug. Mona tensed, weirded out, and the woman laughed.

"Mom, what's going on?" She asked, slightly uncomfortable as she had her head stroked. However, the parts of her that were feline, to her embarrassment, were enjoying it.

"Who exactly are you anyways?" Nigel asked, his weapon lowered only slightly. Allowing the Japanese girl to continue hugging Mona, the woman stood up and dusted her pants off.

"My name is Ashlen. I can't really remember how Mona and I got here but it seems we are new in town." The woman, revealed to be Ashlen, told him. Nigel rose a eyebrow beneath his dark glasses.

"Do you honestly expect us to believe that?" He demanded, now crossing is arms against his chest as his one hand continued to grip the B.L.A.Z.E.R. Ashlen shrugged as she looked down at the uncomfortable looking adopted daughter.

"Weirder things have happened." Ashlen stated, rubbing the back of her neck uncomfortably. "Anyways, since we can't remember coming here, Mona and I have no where to stay." She said, frowning uneasily. Kuki, still hugging Mona, turned to look -or she would be if her eyes weren't closed- at the woman.

"Oh, you can stay with us!"

"Numbuh 3, are you crazy? We can't let an adult in our tree house." Nigel argued, unhappy with the idea. At this Kuki turned her head to Nigel, her eyes now open.

"Oh come on, Numbuh 1, please? I mean look how cute her kitty is."

"I am not a kitty!" Mona snapped and blushed in full embarrassment. This went ignored as the others, besides Wally, lowered their weapons.

"Well, she doesn't seem evil, Numbuh 1. Plus it is our duty to protect all kids, including the cat girl." Hoagie told Nigel. He, like Kuki, had started to cave in.

"No, never. I will never allow a adult in the tree house." Stubborn as ever Nigel kept his arms crossed and a straight face. There was nothing on this earth that would make him cave in.

"Oh come on, pllleeaaasss?" Kuki began to beg. Wally, trapped in the puppy dog stare, groaned and lowered his gun.

"Oh come on, mate. One night can't hurt. Besides, if this adult does try something it is still five against one." He said before leaning in close. "I don't trust her either but you know Numbuh 3 wont stop begging until we let them stay at least a night." He whispered just a little too loud. Kuki looked a little insulted as Mona wiggled out of her grip and Ashlen chuckled.

"Hey, what are you laughing at?" Nigel demanded angrily. Ashlen held her hands out in defence before helping Mona back up.

"It's nothing." she sighed a answer. Lifing Mona up in her arms, Ashlen turned around, ready to leave and only keeping her head back at the kids.

"You five have a good night. I should be able to manage something, if I have the right money for it that is." She said, a new frown coming on her face. That was a new problem that came to mind.

The only things Ashlen had on her was the pockets in her summer jacket and pants. Thanks to the help of witch friend her pockets were deeper than normal and were nearly bottomless. In them she had money, clothing -that could fit if they were folded the right way-, water bottles and baggies of food. However, as Ashlen hadn't expected to spend much time in a town, she hadn't brought more than two hundred dollars. Not to mention she had no idea if she was even in the same country... or possibly even dimension. After all she was picking up a strange vibe here.

"Numbuh 1, come on, man. I don't really like the idea of an adult staying with us as well. However we can't let a kid, younger than us never mind you, go homeless." Abby pointed out, joining the others in pressuring their sector leader. Under the pressure of his four teammates, Nigel finally broke.

"Alright already, they can stay. But for one night only." Nigel finally gave in. Ashlen, who had been inches from the road, heard everything turned her head back at the kids.

"Um, don't you need to ask your parents before you invite a strange woman into your home?" the woman asked, confused. The way Ashlen was raised one of the biggest rules was always ask permission first; not that she really did that now she was a adult.

"Why would I need permission from my parents? However getting you inside without them noticing might be a problem. My father is insistent to staying up to watch the all night fishing channel lately." Nigel said thoughtfully before shivering at a thought. "Thankfully he never asks me to watch with him."

"So, how are we going to get them inside without him noticing?" Wally questioned, his fists resting against his side. Nigel pondered over the question for a moment before he turned to his friends.

"Alright, this is what we are going to do. Numbuhs 2,3 and 4 go back inside and get the F.L.A.P.P.U.H's. You three will fly these two inside the tree house. Numbuh 5 and myself will stay out here and watch these two in case this adult does something funny." Nigel ordered his team, pointing to each one as he addressed them. Numbuh's 2-4 saluted before rushing back into the house as Ashlen rolled her eyes.

"Are all kids like this here?" She asked while patting Mona's head. The remaining two kids turned their gaze to her and raised an eyebrow, though Abby looked more relaxed than Nigel did.
